Freeman's Wharfer Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 There seems to be a lot of people failing to grasp the concept that money doesn't guarantee instant success. The same people who were booing the team off at half time yesterday and the same people no doubt that are already calling for SGE to be sacked. Yes, we've spent over £10million. Yes we've signed some players who are good enough to play at a level higher than the Championship. But come 3pm on a Saturday it's eleven versus eleven and transfer fees, achievements at previous clubs mean nothing. You might think it's an excuse or a cop out but the team does need time. Sven needs time. We're six games in. SIX. Yes it hasn't been a great start, it could have been better, but there's a long way to go yet. People seem to be forgetting that the aim this year is promotion. PROMOTION. To win the league would be great, to go up automatically would be great but if we scrape into the play-offs on the last day of the season on goal difference, scrape our way to Wembley and win the final through the most ridiculous own goal that football has ever seen, then it's job done and we'll be in the Prem. Not the way we want it to happen and far from ideal but we'll be there. I can't understand why the money that we've paid should all of a sudden change this goal to us expecting to win the league. "We're Leicester City, we're buying the league". No we're not and no we won't. Everyone at the club knows that we should go up this year and the pressure on the players must be huge. You imagine every game going out with everyone expecting you to win, with the opposition desperate to beat you and prove a point. They're paid handsomely to deal with this pressure but I don't think they need it cranking up any more from their own support. A little patience, a little encouragement they should be afforded. I had a discussion with a guy at half-time who was claiming we should get Mark Hughes in. Yeah?! So six games in we sack SGE, we bring in Mark Hughes or even MON if they could be persuaded to manage us. And what happens if they come in and decide they don't like Wellens, new central midfielder please owners. Sol Bamba, Schmeichel and Fernandes decide they don't fancy playing for another manager, that in actual fact they're only here because of Sven and they now want to leave. The £3million Beckord that Sven's just bought wishes he hasn't signed because everything that was sold to him to make him want to sign has now changed. More upheaval and more money spent. Sven's been given the money, he's spent it and now we have to sit back, hope they start playing as we know they can (and have seen glimpses of at Forest for example). I firmly believe that unless the situation is drastic i.e. we're in a relegation battle or 12 points off the play-offs, SGE deserves the season or at the very least 20 games. If it's not working then we change it then. But for now, after SIX games, we really don't need the upheaval.
eaststandtom Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Talk of Svens departure is surely far too premature, even if it meant a return of city legend, however, since QPR in early March, Sven and City have not been anything like the force they were in January and February when goals and flowing football where the order of the day. Things looked good up until QPR when all of a sudden we had yet more loanees unneccersarily in the team. The arrival of Ricardo, Bruma and even Yakubu upset the apple cart and solid, consistent performers such as Berner, Dyer, Hobbs etc where left out to dry. Those players, for example, had been part of Citys success and unfortunately Svens loan signings and team tinkering disrupting the consistency and momentum which cost us promotion. While it is only 6 games into the season and far too early for a change of management I cant help but look back to the turn of March and QPR when the rug was well and truly pulled out from under the teams feet not just because of the result but by Svens pointless loan signings (Mee excluded) and tinkering. Sven still has a CV of a top drawer manager but has yet to prove it so far at City. I hope and expect him to deliver. P.S. Andy King should be in the team. First name on the team sheet. No question. No arguments. End of.
Koke Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 There are 23 other teams in this division. People are pissing in the wind if they thought this was gonna be a walk in the park.
ta-fc Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Wasn't funny the other times you said this either. Oh and btw, your 'argument' is wrong. Typical 'blue tinter'... It is funny cause dense Fcukers like you keep responding to it... me and the lads had a great laugh at the expense of those of you that can't see any wrong with what's happening under Sven (1.5m per year for p!ss poor management)...
ta-fc Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 nah college mate good one and hmm funny but I think you called me a clown first. And hahaha...fact you need money to win leagues nowadays, also fact you need time to let the team gel. Football isn't played on paper in case you haven't noticed. So give it time and we will come good. P.S. don't call me juvenile cause that just makes you a cock for thinking I'm immature even though you started the name calling, very mature. A thousand apologies if I upset your tender little heart again feel free to correct me...
ta-fc Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Yawn... too much time on your hands... Not socially astute enough to get out the house...

ta-fc Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 I guess you're on here on your iphone from the top of everest. Nope the pub... After playing football and socializing with the lads... And p!ssing ourselves at your post I'm guessing you've pulled together that little clip art masterpiece from your bedroom in your parents house... Probably just celebrated your 40th birthday as well...

Awh, how sweet. Yet, incredibly sad and hypocritical.

So you're starting random arguments on online forums whilst being in the company of other human beings. ok....

marbelladave Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Children bickering, there's nothing like it..... Blaming each other, the players, the manager, it'll be the bloody biorythms next. We are playing poorly because our players don't know what they are doing and we do not have a proper first tean coach to tell them, simple as that. We have the players to be genuine promotion contenders, we just need the team for then to play in....
ta-fc Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 come on lads no need to take a bit of banter so personally...

If this is your 'banter' than it's of a shocking standard, especially since there is a 'group' of you and this is the best you can come up with? At least 21st's posts offer decent humour with literate comments. I for one welcome those types of posts more than yours.

ta-fc Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 NB: there's almost a dozen of us now laughing our nuts off that the ONLY decent argument you've come up with is the fact that my spelling may be off kilter typing on a Blackberry rather than a reasonable argument about why City are currently so poor...
Petchy Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Well you clearly didn't get the point I was making, but I'll let you and your 'dozen' lads try and think of what I meant... I don't hold out much hope though that the penny will drop.
