Happy Fox Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/football-hotline/2011/09/11/leicester-poised-to-make-club-record-bid-for-celtic-talisman-gary-hooper-102039-23411491/ Leicester CITY are still chasing Celtic’s Essex-born striker Gary Hooper – after failing with a club record £8million bid for him in the window. The Foxes made an official approach on deadline day, offering DOUBLE the £4m they proposed months earlier. Celtic said “no”and Hooper wasn’t interested. But Sven Goran Eriksson will make another attempt in January. By then, he hopes the prospect of promotion will sway Hooper.
dannythefox Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Maynard will be much cheaper! Would love Hooper here but he's winning trophy's and living his dream no chance!
accessory Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 If this story was true, Sven would have completely lost the plot. No way is Hooper worth £8m. But this should be treated as more media BS.
irDeano Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 But this should be treated as more media BS. It's The People, of course it should be!
Dan Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 What bollocks. £8mil for Gary Hooper, please. Laughable.
leicesterisme Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Only last week they said Sven will be gone in 5 games If it's not sorted out and now they're telling us who we want.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 The story is true to the sense that, We did make a bid for Hooper of 4million cash + 4million in alot of various add-on clauses. I thought this was common knowledge on here. But we went in for ALOT of players around deadline day. Hooper, Santa Cruz, Beckford, Maynard, Yakubu, Keane, Heskey ect ect All these clubs were being offered silly money by Leicester.

Fox92 Posted 12 September 2011 Posted 12 September 2011 £8million is a stupid price. Hooper was very good for Celtic last season, I like him as a player. But, at Scunthorpe, in this division, he looks no better than what we have in Beckford and Nugent.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 12 September 2011 Posted 12 September 2011 More to the point, if it was true WTF were Celtic doing

Sven's desperation to sign a striker was well known, and there was a story on Sky about a bid for Nikica Jelavic. I suspect sources at Celtic have spun this yarn in an attempt to convince their fans their players are just as valuable as Rangers ones.
Dan Posted 12 September 2011 Posted 12 September 2011 Such bullshit, I'd put £8mil for Hooper beyond even us. I'd also put rejecting that as beyond stupid too. Complete non-story.
