thybluefox Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Just a little idea I had this morning, what team would you pick if you could pick any players from any era? It might be a rubbish idea but I thought I'd see what people thought!
One Arm Babba Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 I'd go for: GK: Shilton RB: Kaamark CB: Elliott CB: Walsh LB: Nish RM: Weller CM: Lennon CM: Izzet LM: Guppy CF: Heskey CF: Lineker
One Arm Babba Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Heskey ahead of Worthington ? I think his hold up play would be awesome for Lineker. He'd get 30+ in a season.
Alexikokopops Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Ward Grayson Whitlow Willis Coatsworth Carey Gibson Blake Walsh Roberts Ormondroyd
somebum Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 GK - Tough call between Shilts and Banks DC - Stevie Walsh DC - Frankie McLintock DC - Colin Appleton WBL - Lenny Glover WBR - Graham Cross MC - Keith Weller MC - Neil Lennon FC - Arthur Rowley FC - Frank Worthington FC - Arthur Chandler Manager - Martin O'Neill
ChrisJager Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Gordon Banks Steve Whitworth, Ian King, Matt Elliott, David Nish Frank McLintock, Davey Gibson, Gary McAllister, Graham Cross Gary Lineker, Emile Heskey McLintock was a midfielder when he was with us, the driving force behind the successful team of the early 60s.
ozleicester Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 If your team sheet doesnt start with the name Gordon Banks (the finest British goalkeeper of ALL time) - then im afraid its a fail.

Does anyone think it says something about the cumulative effects that years and years of following the City has had on us all when, given the chance to name our greatest side ever .......... we imediately turn it into a nightmare 11 thread !!!!!!!!!! And anyway, you forgot Gregor Stevens ..... he really was the stuff of nightmares !!
RedHux Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 4 full backs, 4 centre backs and 2 strikers and no Franz Carr. Woeful. Did Franz carr play for you lot? ( I could look it up but ultimately I'm a very lazy man )
The Doctor Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Did Franz carr play for you lot? ( I could look it up but ultimately I'm a very lazy man ) Yes - September 94 to Feb 95. Played in 13 games and scored 1.

TrentFox Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 A glittering career then One of the first players to have his dad knacker his career....bloody fast though. What did his dad do ?????
RedHux Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 His dad was acting as his agent and during contract negotiations went to the press and generally made a nuisance of himself. Something which Mr Clough wasn't all together keen on. ...that said, there is a story where Carr was especially woeful one afternoon and Mr Clough locked him in a boiler room to think about what he'd done.

Was that why, once, someone came out and pretended to be Franz Carr in a TV post-match interview .... because the real one was locked up somewhere deep in the bowels of the City Ground ??!
RedHux Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 Haha! Wouldn't surprise me. "Best corner flag hitter in the business.." As Mr Clough once said. Anyway, No Stanley Victor Collymore in anyone's Leicester XI?
Corky Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 He had one great game, not really enough to qualify Izzet, Lennon, Elliott and Walsh in there from my time, and Arnar Gunlaugsson for some special goals and penalty shoot-out record and lovely bald head.
