Amanda Knox

She hasn't been imprisoned wrongly. She was given the time she has served already today for trying to pin the crime on that bar owner where she claimed she had to cover her ears in the next room while he killed her before she admitted she was lying (again).

Being accused of murder will do strange things to a persons mind but until any of us go thru the same thing Amanda Knox has we will never know why she said what she said.

One year, she was handed 3 today for the slander of PL, she gets that's if innocent or not of the crime.

Sorry 'only' 1 year for a crime she didnt commit

Im pretty sure financial gain is the furthest from their minds at the moment.

However Amanda has every rite to profit from her release she spent 4 years in jail for a crime she has now been proven innocent of.

It may sound horrible but she doesnt owe the Kerchers anything

There is still another person in prison for this murder his appeal was a failed one

im sure financial gain is the last thing on the Kerchers mind, just my opinion.

But she was given a 3 years for slander(guilty) so not that innocent!

strange thing said about this by the italian high court, was that when they heard guede,s appeal, they said that he was only a part of the murder and that there where others involved hence his sentence was reduced to 16yrs, and yet the 2 other main players are now free?? so if it wasnt them then who exactly are they saying is also guilty??

personally i think she,s as guilty as can be and the reason she is free is down to italian police incompetence and her american family,s money.

Sorry but that's a ridiculous thing to say, you can't just try and blame someone else for a murder if you are questioned over it?

I just find it too strange for someone who had nothing to do with a murder to place themselves at the scene hearing someone do it when in reality they were at their boyfriends watching a DVD.

Even more so someone who was on CCTV working at his own bar at the time.

Again we dont know why she said those things she did but the main thing is that she was found not guilty of Murder.

She has been cleared on evidence not being suitable, not found not guilty.

This will go to the supreme court now where she will probably be found guilty again, but not a chance the US would extradite her.

I feel for the Kercher family, Knox is 100% guilty in their minds, must be hell for them.

Ok she is a slutty Harlot who brutally raped and murdered a woman with her boyfriend and another man. Managed to leave minute amounts of evidence that would be inadmissable in any major western court.

Got Lucky when the police managed to bundle their way thru the crime scene and completely destroy computers that had pictures of the 2 together etc.

And managed to kill Meridith with no known Motive at all

Then got unlucky when she was sentenced to 26 years in prison.

Or maybe she was a liar who tried anything to get free of the charges which tbf didnt work for 4 years lol

She didn't sit giggling through the first trial, that's rubbish. She behaved bizarrely during the interrogation, but not the trial.

PERUGIA, Italy — She grins and chats. On Valentine's Day, she sported a T-shirt that read "All You Need Is Love." And one of the first things she said in court was about a rabbit shaped sex toy.

Amanda Knox faces life in prison if convicted of killing Meredith Kercher, a British exchange student who was her roommate in this picturesque university town. However, her breezy behavior in hearings over the last three months has set tongues wagging in Italy and abroad.

Knox's family insists she has always been respectful in court and knows full well the weight of the charges against her.

The 21-year-old former University of Washington student is being tried with her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito for the 2007 killing that mesmerized Italy with its tales of sex and drugs. Both deny wrongdoing.

Knox was studying for one year in Perugia and sharing an apartment with Kercher, a 21-year-old student from Leeds University in England, when the Briton was found stabbed to death in the house on Nov. 2, 2007.

Prosecutors allege that Kercher was killed during what began as a sex game, with Sollecito holding her by the shoulders from behind while Knox touched her with the point of a knife.

They say a third man, Ivory Coast national Rudy Hermann Guede, tried to sexually assault Kercher and then Knox fatally stabbed her in the throat. Guede was convicted of murder in a separate trial last year and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The case, and particularly Knox's alleged role, has made headlines in Italy and abroad and media outlets still converge here for hearings held most Fridays and Saturdays.

Photo and TV coverage of the trial has focused on Knox's calm demeanor, her chats with the interpreter during breaks and in one case even her fashion sense, when she wore a bright T-shirt with "All You Need Is Love" scrawled in large pink letters on Valentine's Day.

In contrast, co-defendant Sollecito, 25, has appeared more tense and kept a lower-profile; he faces the cameras only when briefly waving to his family sitting in front of them.

Italian and European reports have buzzed with remarks.

"She is defiant and he, fearful," summarized Italy's respected daily Corriere della Sera the day after the opening hearing.

"The Foxy Knoxy show: Smiling murder suspect makes grand entrance as trial begins," read a title on the online version of Britain's Daily Mail, which also described Knox as walking "like a Hollywood diva sashaying along the red carpet."

Knox's behavior also raised eyebrows before the trial opened, with a witness recently testifying in court that the American turned cartwheels and did splits at the police station in the hours that followed the murder.

How can you possibly jump to that conclusion.

Her conviction was clearly unsafe. Also, in the original trial no independent expert was allowed to give a report on crucial evidence, which is pretty despicable. If you're going to deprive someone of their liberty, you better be damn sure your evidence is watertight.

Surely if she was an active participant, her DNA would be all over the crime scene?

Apparently her fingerprints were on the knife that had minute specs of blood on it.

But that isnt watertight she could have been peeling spuds for all we know

Really?!

So what was she grinning at? The article fails to address that. Do you not think in this crazy, crazy she could have been grinning while talking to Counsel while they were awaiting the hearing to proceed? Coupled with the fact she was chatting and grinning, it certainly doesn't suggest it was during proceedings. Further, I can't see any mention of her giggling through the trial

With regard to the sex toy, please put this in context. It appears that she was talking about it as part of her defence.

From an objective viewpoint, it appears that the article is an attempt at character assassination - which the Italian media have been keen to do.

Thank **** your not an Italian Juror

Out of interest what insights have you got into the case? I've watched it and read 2 books and still couldn't come to a 100% conclusion.

It's certainly a fascinating case. Seems to me that she can't quite be proved guilty but neither can she completely prove her innocence. I think that's what makes it hard for people to make their minds up, particularly when the complicating factor of the media agendas of three countries are thrown in.

Before deciding to comment either way I think that people should at the very least do a little research into the case (as Knox's family have asked all along). I read the Wikipedia page which is hardly the most extensive account of events or evidence but it does give a general overview. After reading that I came to the conclusion that she was innocent so am therefore glad that she is free.

Anything think the scenes outside the court were interesting? Thousands of Perugias chanting shame and murderer.

Small town, things get round, maybe they know more than the rest of us do.

It's a staggering local response for what a lot of people are supposed to see as a miscarriage of justice.

I first got into the case when it was originally broken by the various news agency's started reporting it. I seem to be interested in the legal system of other countries dunno why.

i like many others didnt delve too deeply into the case but watched from afar as the case unravelled only after she was granted an appeal did i start to take a more detailed look into the case.

I was extremely concerned with the conclusion that the court assigned panel of DNA experts concluded that the Dna used to convict her could have been contaminated and couldnt be retested as there was such a minute amount of it.

Ill admit i am not aware of the 2 book of which you mention.

I much prefer to look at the case myself and come to my own conclusions and when the words DNA and Contaminated are in the same sentence alarm bells start to ring

But hey she may have done it but as the Judge said tonight the Evidence used to convict her originally was unreliable and any small measure of doubt means innocence. evidence has to be watertight and you cant use the 'She laughed alot and was a clown in court excuse' that ......Thankfully isn't used as evidence

Dear god man you may be rite they better stop her before she leaves the country surely that sentence is all the evidence the court needs for a conviction.

Or maybe they have taken a dislike to an American 'Middle Class' girl being found not guilty of murder

lol No!

I'm pretty sure that in a case as big as this if something so damning/convincing can be passed around the local town it will spread further. I doubt there's some secret that has been kept exclusive to Perugias.

I think that reaction is more likely to have something to do with the way in which Knox was portrayed by the local and national media which from what I read had a pretty big impact on the initial trial and potentially the perceptions of the jury.

No I'm just putting a theory forward. Word gets round in small towns, we all know people in villages who have done things and got off with them as they cant "prove it" in court.

Like I've said, i have watched and read loads about this and I still wouldnt of been able to deliver a guilty verdict myself, not being 100% But I am just totally convinced she was involved in some way or knew far more than she was letting on.
