We are so lucky that their board is a bunch of idiots.

We've got a higher calibre player in Beckford who we payed much less for and soon enough they will realise what a ridiculous decision they made to turn down our offers.

While I am very happy that we have got a player of Beckfords quality, to suggest he is higher calliber is harsh. The guy is quite clearly one of the most talented in this league and has, imo played a blinder in all of this. Gets to leave for nothing next june and can pimp himself to the highest bidder.

I would have loved to have had him here but unfortunately was not to be and who can blame him for looking after himself. I will guarantee that if he stays injury free that he will be in the Prem this time next year.

I said in every Nicky Maynard thread that he really isn't that good, and that I'd much prefer it if we steered clear at that price. "Good championship striker" is where he's at now, worth maybe a million or two + add ons.

I'm far happier with the signing of Beckford, not because he was cheaper but he is a proven goalscorer and has prem experience, far better deal, Maynard was a risk too far for me, was exciting to be linked with him and all the drama that followed but at the end of the day, Bristol are gonna be kicking themselves come January, I don't care where he goes!

IMHO,

looked a good player to me earlier in the season and i,d still have him here at the right price. You have got to admire Brizzie's balls in not selling but it has all gone very wrong. The Maynard money could have got them 4/5 decent players instead if they are lucky he will go for a greatly reduced fee in Jan or free in the summer. They looked doomed even worse than Forest!!
