Ashley Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Bristol City must be pissed that he didn't want to agree terms with us they are going to get relegated this season and no doubt he will leave in the summer for free when he is out of contract, 6 million lost which they could of really done with to finance their new stadium getting under way hope Sven puts in a cheeky 1 million bid for him in January just to take the piss We never had a bid accepted so how could we of discussed terms with him? Unless you know something else?

Oppps have I made a mistake I thought Bristol accepted an undisclosed bid (approx 6 million) but the deal fell through because Maynard did not want to agree terms? anybody know I can't be assed to troll through previous maynard threads again
Callabinho Posted 9 October 2011 Posted 9 October 2011 Heard from a friend (again how reliable I'm not sure) that a few days after the window shut that he felt like he made a mistake not pushing for a move, he will leave in January for sure but not to us west ham I reckon once cole leaves!! Once Beckford starts hitting the money we won't need him. Anyway Nugent partnered with beckford in my opinion is much More of a threat than Maynard!

Vassell would (often) kill not to score in 7 & have you noticed how many Beckford has scored & for a much better side than Brizzle. Form is temporary & how cares about another club's player's form? On just as relevant a side note, I signed Maynard in FIFA (£5.3m was the magic number) & sold Vassell have an awesome strength in depth with Nuge, Beckford, Schlupp & Maynard now. I got him for 4.5 and kept Vassell And just for laughs I make him warm the bench

Have Bristol made a mistake in not accepting our bid for him in the Summer. Almost certainly. I don't know why Bristol City fans expected him to sign a new contract. He is a footballer looking out for his career, so he's always been much better off waiting until the Summer when he can leave on a free for a very large signing on bonus, the like of which he would not receive were he under contract. For this same reason, he will not leave in January, even if Bristol accept a reduced bid. If we can get him in the Summer, we almost certainly should, but I expect a team like Everton, with little money and a good manager, to pick him up on a free, just as they did Beckford (before selling him on for a tidy profit when it wasn't working out).

Not wishing to sound arrogant but im not so sure they were ever a rival. I know they beat us but a totally new team trying to gel playing against a team familiar with themselves AND with a striker obviously fired up..
