LcFc_Smiv Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 No, but getting to the play offs was an achievement. Losing wasn't an achievement, finishing sixth was. This. Probably far better worded than how I was trying to put it!
Joe. Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Oh right, let's get Mike Whitlow back in the side then.
lestajigs Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 So one of out biggest achievements in the past few years was losing? One of our biggest achievements in the past few years was finishing 5, and yes losing the playoff semi final!! Who do you think we are, man u, Chelsea??? If you don't think that season was an achievement for Leicester... Well......... Bert or not!! No it dosnt help we have been pretty poor in recent years
The Doctor Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 You can easily find videos of Weale making mistakes, where are the ones of him in the games such as Sheffield Utd (comes to mind straight away) away where he produced a string of amazing saves to ensure we walked away with 3 points, or the other countless games where he did his job to ensure we got points in the game. A mistake should see you be transferred? On what grounds, no player would ever be safe in their jobs. Fair enough when I see Kasper go to collect a cross or make a save I have that feel of confidence that he'll deal with it which I didn't have all the time with Weale, but branding him shit is far off the mark. Being an average team and reaching the play off semi finals after coming up from league 1 isn't some sort of achievement? I'm pretty sure that season if someone had said we'd finish 6th in the league we would of snapped their hand off, yes I'd call that an achievement. As for the Hobbs thing I see on numerous occasions comments saying how far we've come with out defence to the likes of Hobbs, people saying he wouldn't cut it in our team, which in fairness up until recently the majority of people on this forum were going on about how current defensive members don't deserve there place. My original comment wasn't stating that those who we used to have are better than the team we have now, I just think its pretty unfair on those to say they were shit and no good and can't believe we used to have a squad like that, when they almost got us to promotion, something that we're still yet to find out if this team can achieve. Not any mistake but such a mistake is unforgivable. My old pet rabbit could have saved that and it's been dead for 5 years. That match was win or bust in terms of the play-offs and that mistake + his usual long-shot **** up lead to 2 goals which handed the game to those *****. My patience with him was waning with persistent mistakes earlier that season but that was the final straw - he lost us local pride against the tree scum and killed off all hope of reaching the play-offs.
eye666 Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Coming up from league 1 to finish 5th, then go to Cardiff and play how we did, was a great achievement for us!!! Please correct me if I'm wrong but neither played in the League One season... did they?
Fox92 Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Wellens is shit Get off. You might not like him, but he isn't exactly shit. If he has more of a free role, and players are running, he'll pick them out. Just look at the season review last season, and you'll see that most moves come through him, even though he doesn't get the assist for the goal. Why do you think Premier League teams have always looked at him? He rejected Wolves to join Leicester. I don't think the diamond is the right formation to play, because no way is Wellens a defensive midfielder. Look at where all his former clubs played him, I don't think none played him as a defensive midfielder. He is type of midfielder that can drive when he has the space with the ball.

Look at where all his former clubs played him, I don't think none played him as a defensive midfielder. He is type of midfielder that can drive when he has the space with the ball. Was that ever confirmed? The fact is he's in his 30's, he's never played at a higher level than the championship and he's not as good as some are making out. He's limited in the way he plays, slowing down play and making ill-judged passes. Wellens is at his best when he keeps things simple with his passes and retains play when teams are chasing the game, he has a part to play for that matter. I'd not be starting him currently though because so far this season he's made a series of bad passes, gifting the opposition the ball time and time again and losing any urgency when we break forward. For whatever reason, our team does use Wellens as it's focal point in midfield, giving him the ball at every opportunity and this is where the problem lies. If we are relying on Wellens to make our team tick then all the opposition have to do is squeeze Wellens out, which isn't difficult. Against Derby, our whole midfield constantly moved and interchanged, which made it difficult for the opposition to compete with. It allowed King to make those ghosty runs he makes, that have been absent prior to this because the moment is lost when Wellens dithers on the balls and the chance is gone. He needs to work his way back in to the team on merit, right now he's 5th choice for me.
