Joe. Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 If Wellens is fit I'd put money on him starting. Sven loves him - he's admitted as much recently - making him an almost shoo-in for us. I'd like to think that talk is largely hot air but I fear not. Bad feeling Danns, Abe/Fernandes will be sacrificed and both Johnson and Wellens will be back in. Johnson I wouldn't say no to, but Wellens is frustrating to say the least of late.
The Doctor Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 So what are you saying? Unworthy players are voted by our own fans player of the season? And last season he got more votes that Naughton so he must have done a lot right in a lot of people's eyes. Truth is that in order to appreciate Wellens you have to understand that not everyone is the on the pitch to do the glamorous things in a game. Wellens in an engine room, someone you can build a team around. He wins the ball back, always makes himself available to receive and distributes on the whole with great accuracy and vision. Any LCFC team without him is all the weaker for it. a lot of people thought weale was an amazing keeper and that waghorn should have been playing week-in week-out. Basically, a lot of leicester fans know **** all about football.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Haha I think this highlights that you're a bit of a Norris then. Do you kit yourself in full Leicester City regalia? Rattled your cage have i............ I just repeat .....unlike you and all the rest of the wonkers like you .........i never slag ANY of our players off .........and as for being what you call a "norris"....you'll know all about that.... Mr 7 year poster !!
Mack Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 a lot of people thought weale was an amazing keeper and that waghorn should have been playing week-in week-out. Basically, a lot of leicester fans know **** all about football. With all the slating on here for one of our best players I agree. By the way that first season back up in the Championship under Pearson both Weale and Waghorn had very very good seasons. So people who did rate them had something concrete to base that on. With Weale for me his drop in form is about confidence, with Waghorn I think he just does not suit Sven's tactics and will probably do well again under Pearson at Hull.
Sods Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Gutted this is an early kick off as 2000 fans should make a hell lot of noise, im going to be very hungover again.
Corky Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 So what are you saying? Unworthy players are voted by our own fans player of the season? No, it's that winning a Player of the Season award doesn't necessarily make them a quality player.
Tommy G Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Can I not open a thread and find Richie fooking Wellens' name littered around Getting on my Fu.cking tits to be honest
ousefox Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Cannot understand how people can't see what Wellens adds to the team. Anyone who has played football to a decent standard should be able to see the type of player he is. He's got the best footballing brain on the team and knows exactly what he's doing and his anticipation is second to none. He was wanted by a Premier League team last season! Hope he plays on sunday.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 No, it's that winning a Player of the Season award doesn't necessarily make them a quality player. you don't get Player of the Season for being shit...

Corky Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 you don't get Player of the Season for being shit... I didn't say he was.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 True. However, you implied that from your previous posts, which fair enough, is your opinion. But he got Player of the Season out of the whole squad? Surely he must have been pretty quality?
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Seriously cannot tell if people are joking about Wellens or being serious. He is the most consistent player we have, the only player that will battle for the ball in midfield, defends and can shoot aswell as being the one who we usually rely on for providing the defence splitting pass. One of the first names on the team sheet for me, and Sven, who i thinks knows him alot better than all of us. So we played really well without him, do you really think that if he was playing then we wouldn't have beat Derby, course we would of you fools. Pathetic.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Annoys the hell out of me when people talk about Weale and Waghorn being useless and shit, when they have achieved something for the club what the current team are yet to do. I know these haven't had a proper chance yet and it's still early in the season, but all you hear is how we're far better off without the likes of Waghorn, Weale, Hobbs etc when they took us to the play offs and if they had got promoted, (which was a really realistic chance at the time) would they really get all the shit they do now? The team always has my full support but I'm not going to have a dig at former players or those who can't make the squad saying how crap they are and how better off we are now, just because we have some new superstars who are yet to fully prove themselves, the majority of which still get no end of abuse off our fans. Players like Weale and Waghorn may not have the same status as Kasper and Nugent, but for the moment they took us to the play offs and they nearly got us there against the odds, this time the odds are in our favour and we're only just beginning to apply ourselves, hopefully we take it one step further with a big win on sunday against Birmingham.
The Doctor Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Annoys the hell out of me when people talk about Weale and Waghorn being useless and shit, Weale: Very ****ing shit and should have been gone this summer - that is just un-****ing-forgiveable.
Fox92 Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 I always said Weale was useless, and I used to get slated for it

Pathetic. he doesn't battle for the ball or defend that well, rarely shoots and often is off target when he does and where are these defence splitting passes? by the time he actually remembers to pass the ball any pace in the move has gone the players have stopped running as they had to come back from offside and never know when he is going to pass and when he does its nearly always the Hollywood ball or an impossible pass. look at how we played against Derby, full of pace, vision and creativity from midfield and Richie Wellens wasn't playing he is overrated, over hyped and often holds us back as a team
Corky Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 True. However, you implied that from your previous posts, which fair enough, is your opinion. But he got Player of the Season out of the whole squad? Surely he must have been pretty quality? My first reply about Wellens (to Mack I believe) was tongue-in-cheek. He does have qualities, I don't believe he's shit and last season had some cracking games. However, he does go missing when we are struggling (an accusation levelled at King too) and he slows down the play, which is fine when we're winning but not when we need to force the pace. And I don't believe he was POTS, Naughton should've got it.

So what honours under LCFC do Weale and Waghorn have? Losing in a play-off semi is not an achievement.
lestajigs Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 So what honours under LCFC do Weale and Waghorn have? Losing in a play-off semi is not an achievement. Coming up from league 1 to finish 5th, then go to Cardiff and play how we did, was a great achievement for us!!!
Corky Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 What has Hobbs had? I recall people were disappointed to see him go or those that weren't wished him all the best for the future.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 You can easily find videos of Weale making mistakes, where are the ones of him in the games such as Sheffield Utd (comes to mind straight away) away where he produced a string of amazing saves to ensure we walked away with 3 points, or the other countless games where he did his job to ensure we got points in the game. A mistake should see you be transfered? On what grounds, no player would ever be safe in their jobs. Fair enough when I see Kasper go to collect a cross or make a save I have that feel of confidence that he'll deal with it which I didn't have all the time with Weale, but branding him shit is far off the mark. Being an average team and reaching the play off semi finals after coming up from league 1 isn't some sort of achievement? I'm pretty sure that season if someone had said we'd finish 6th in the league we would of snapped their hand off, yes I'd call that an achievement. As for the Hobbs thing I see on numerous occasions comments saying how far we've come with out defence to the likes of Hobbs, people saying he wouldn't cut it in our team, which in fairness up until recently the majority of people on this forum were going on about how current defensive members don't deserve there place. My original comment wasn't stating that those who we used to have are better than the team we have now, I just think its pretty unfair on those to say they were shit and no good and can't believe we used to have a squad like that, when they almost got us to promotion, something that we're still yet to find out if this team can achieve.
Bert Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 So one of out biggest achievements in the past few years was losing?
Magictv Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 So one of out biggest achievements in the past few years was losing? No, but getting to the play offs was an achievement. Losing wasn't an achievement, finishing sixth was.
