Dicko Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Gents Does anyone have a link to a site that shows City's starting XI for this match? The Wikipedia page isn't there for some reason, and I need this to settle a debate! Cheers!

Babylon Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 I've done what I can to blank it from my childhood, my poor little broken heart... the tears, oh the tears.
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 I've done what I can to blank it from my childhood, my poor little broken heart... the tears, oh the tears. we were sitting right behind the goal when Speedie took his tumble.... went through the grieving process...initially shock, followed by anger, then tears, then beers on the journey home..
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 I was right at the back of the stadium and could hardly see anything. It was sweltering big time. Horrible day.
Salieri Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 We did very well not to get stuffed, Blackburn had a very good squad. Was gutted that we lost, and the circumstances in which we lost didn't help. I thought I couldn't feel as devastated after a football match as I did that day, then along came Swindon Town. <_<

Salieri Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Did the double over them in the league though. Did we? Didn't realise that. Just remember it being the start of Jack Walker pumping millions into the club and they seemed super rich at the time. Looking at their side, they did have some very good players. Our squad wasn't particularly fantastic but God did I love some of those players.
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Did the double over them in the league though. Yeah I went to the blackburn away game that season... Ticker tape and all... I think Rooster netted after Mimms had spilled the ball... We went utterly mad when that goal went in... Happy days
purpleronnie Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Hated that game, I remember just sitting down feeling depressed.
panky and our gang Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Yes remember the Blackburn fans coming in to the pub and waving lots of fake notes at us and shouting " loads of Money " Harry Enfield's catchphrase of the time . Who would have thought that this piss poor backwater club would still be in the prem all these years later ? Jack legacy I suppose ? Well maybe it's our time , and lets hope we embrace our good fortune and if we get promoted and have as long a stay as they have .

Guest Col city fan Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Didn't we wear red that game too? Really can't remember tbh... The red away strip was a nice one
Sparky Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Didn't we wear red that game too? Yes, that is also the last time City wore red.
skinnydipper Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 I had a very nice "Cheat fell over" commemorative t-shirt

Guest Bilo Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Three years after that game Blackburn won the bloomin' league as well. Eugh. Vaguely remember the match and the despair felt by the family afterwards but my memories of the Swindon heartbreak a year later are far stronger I'm afraid. As awesome a match as that must have been for the neutral, it was nothing short of horrific for a Leicester fan. I remember laughing myself limp when Swindon were relegated a year later with 100 goals shipped as we went up.
East London Fox Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Really can't remember tbh... The red away strip was a nice one If I can remember, at Wembley, we wore Blue, Rovers were in Yellow... I think
smallpauldj Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 i still dislike Blackburn and Swindon to this day for what happened at wembley. the epic that was the Swindon game was well and truly spoilt by a blatant dive by was it Bodin? I think we was still celebrating the 2nd goal when Thompson scored the goal of the game to level it up. Wembley stadium the only ground ive cried in sadness and in happiness which was when we scored the 2nd vs the sheep
taffyfox Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 It was Steve White who dived for the penalty. Rat Face Paul Bodin stuck it away just months after missing one for Wales that would have seen us taffs beat Romania and Qualify for USA 94..... maybe nexty time
Alexikokopops Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 If I can remember, at Wembley, we wore Blue, Rovers were in Yellow... I think By the looks of Rico's picture I reckon you're right One of my photos from the day
singinpete Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 first time at wembley aged 6! same age as my son now!!
