Babylon Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 But replays showed King clearly did get to the ball first with the toe poke and it clearly wasn't a foul. One looked like he might have, but two others looked like their player just touched it before Kings foot went in.
somebum Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Seems like you ARE the only person around here who thinks it was never a pen, but fear not; you are amongst multitudes operating with only half a brain
C.J Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Never a Penalty, from the behind view you could clearly see he got the ball, the ref must of had a simlar view because the only angle it looked like a pen was from head on. That Beausajour (or however you spell the t*ats name), was always going to go down easy, (see incident in the first half when he did about 12 rolls after a foul). Mills sending off was spot on, we should of had a pen though.
Kilworthfox Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 All the pundits are congratulating the referee for his performance and decisions. I thought he was shocking. You could tell he was going to make a pivotal "big" decision the way he came on at half time. Your having a laugh! The referees got all the decisions correct, the only one which he may have decided differently on was potentialy a 2nd yellow for Beausejour. We got what we deserved yesterday sad fact
Magictv Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 As I said in the other thread, I don't hate the ref for making the call, it was very marginal and it didn't have to cost us the game, we were just shit. But replays showed King clearly did get to the ball first with the toe poke and it clearly wasn't a foul. That Keown, after seeing multiple repeats, kept saying it was a good call was just infuriating me. Fair play to the ref, he came on not expecting to and did reasonably, but that one got away from him and the fact people are agreeing with the call is just odd. Spot on

Maths never a strong point? Or are you reading this with your head in a bucket?
Raj Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 If that was our peno call and it didnt go our way we'd be livid.
Stay Positive Posted 17 October 2011 Author Posted 17 October 2011 If that was our peno call and it didnt go our way we'd be livid. Everyone keeps saying that, but I honestly wouldn't. I'm quite often heard to be saying "That was never a penalty" when one of our players goes down in the box, and I rarely criticise the ref. Only the Forest and Brum games have made me do so, so far.
Stay Positive Posted 17 October 2011 Author Posted 17 October 2011 Come on now...Are you sure petal??? Quite certain, thanks.
Guest MattP Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Slowed it down and it looks a clear pen to me.

Hes makes full contact with the ball before he makes any contact with the player. That cannot and should not be a penalty. I dont usually dwell on these things because it whats done is done, but some people are clearly incredibly blind.
Babylon Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 I dont usually dwell on these things because it whats done is done, but some people are clearly incredibly blind. Looks clearly like their player toes it away to me. The fact even Leicester fans can't agree shows it was a difficult decision, get over it.

The ball went in the direction you would have expected had the Birmingham player touched it first. Add that to King's reaction and it's pretty clear we're clutching at straws here!

So after watching a replay(probably numerous times) you've come to the conclusion that everyone who thinks it was a peno is blind(not just blind but incredibly blind at that) Cracking stuff! The ref made his decision in a second or so,and as you can read on here,a day later even City fans are split as to it being a peno. I for one am not watching any more replays!
Kitchandro Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b016317l/Match_of_the_Day_Live_2011_2012_Birmingham_City_v_Leicester_City/ Go to 1 hour 24 minutes and 10 seconds to the FIRST replay and then come back and tell me how the hell it is a penalty. The first angle is deceptive, you're not watching it closely enough. Look at their feet not the ball. On every angle it's a penalty. Look at King's reaction as well, he knew it was a foul.
Larry_LCFC Posted 17 October 2011 Posted 17 October 2011 Well im still not convinced to be honest but its over now and we have to move on. Im sure we'll be awarded a slightly iffy penalty at some point in the season to balance it out (I hope)
Haydos Posted 18 October 2011 Posted 18 October 2011 Right, highlights are up on BBC Sport. I must have watched all the replays 10 times each and there is NO WAY it isn't a penalty. I honestly don't see how people can think King got the ball, it's not even close and the second replay shows that quite clearly. Beausejour clearly pokes the ball ahead and King stands on his foot. Someone please still claim it wasn't a penalty EDIT: This is a screenshot showing him toe the ball and King's foot still not having put the challenge in yet....

This is the behind view where the view of the ball is partially obstructed yeah? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b016317l/Match_of_the_Day_Live_2011_2012_Birmingham_City_v_Leicester_City/ Go to 1 hour 24 minutes and 10 seconds to the FIRST replay and then come back and tell me how the hell it is a penalty.
