Foreign owners 'want end to Premier League relegation'

This is pathetic, takes the excitement from out the game and means clubs without a lot of money have zero chance of getting into the premier league. I wouldn't want us to be part of that!

Just tried to Google this topic to see which forums were discussing it. I couldn't believe FoxesTalk was on the first page of search results. :giggle: So credit to the forum.

Oh, and the day this proposal happens would be the day I walk away from football.

im sick of hearing about america do this america do that i don't give a shit about them.this is our game and we must fight to keep it like it is not change it. i remember it used to be 22 teams in the top flight until the big clubs started moaning that they were playing to many games and that was when they were not getting paid 200.000 a week so lets keep it as it is because you would never see a wimbledon achieve promotion through the leagues .football is dying in this country and if this happens it will kill a lot of the smaller clubs because there will not be the pot of gold at the end of the tunnel

Wont happen. We'd lose our champions league slots.

Don't fix something that ain't broke .

If this happens fans might turn against the fact that they get ripped off every weekend but don't actually get any real say or view of the inner workings of their life long beloved clubs.

All the money in football comes from the fans. Whether directly or indirectly, every penny comes from people enjoying watching the sport. Therefore greedy owners can't 'kill' football, because they'd be killing their chances at making money.

Do you really believe that the fans of those clubs 'locked' into a PL would stop going and stop paying for TV viewing when they're already paying £40, £50, £60, £70 per game?

Money would still flow in especially from abroad clubs would take greater risks, wages would escalate and the fans would still go.

Would the fans of locked out Championship clubs stop going.

I don't think they give a fook about about the fans that's obvious already.

Glad we've got Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn and not some foreign geezer running the club

Can't see it ever being allowed to be honest. That would be a suicidal thing to do

If this ever happens and we were involved I can safely say I would walk away from supporting my club forever. The romance has already left the game where a small team can rise through to challenge at the top already.

I would rather watch a park game than ever give 1 pence to a format like that. It will truly be the death of football, certainly as a sport in this country if it happens.

If foreign owners do not like the idea of their club being relegated because of money then they should not be involved in the first place. A very sad situation to be even contemplating it.

Yes I think attendances would fall. Lots of people would walk away from the game. Not every club in the pl has the pulling power of Man Utd or Liverpool. The bigger clubs can turn into international brands and their stadiums can turn into theme parks designed for visiting tourists but your Stoke and your Swansea and your Wigan still need their domestic working class fans to go through the turnstiles every week.

A European super league break away would probably work (in terms of return on investment for owners) but this won't imo.

Just seen a fantastic interview with Harry Redknapp. He basically said that if foreign owners continue (buy clubs that are currently English owned like Everton and Norwich etc) then it will ruin football. I agree, because if they are going to do stuff like this then what would be the point in going to the football/what we be the point in football?

There would be nothing to play for.
