blueredswed Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 It's the coaching set-up around the first team which i think is now starting to prove it's not good enough. Fazackerley and Stowell as the two main men is simply rediculous given all the money we've spent on players. We all know how effective Stowell was the last time he was involved in coaching more than our goalkeepers, and as for Fazackerley - he leaves Huddersfield and they start a 38 game unbeaten league run.... Anybody who thinks that this current set-up is doing anything other than a bad job given all of the resources they have had is just wrong. The fact that Eriksson doesn't seem to be doing anything different at all is even more worrying. We're going nowhere other than plodding along at about 1.3 points a game with the current managerial set-up.... AS I can seeing it we goes down here we come love to all above us 20 teams or stop worrying just 19
Schlupp Posted 22 October 2011 Author Posted 22 October 2011 something has to change though surely, losing 3-0 at home against a woeful side just isnt good enough, is it? Oh yeah I completely agree.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Sven isn't an idiot. Whatever side he put out should be beating millwall. Sometimes the players have to take the blame. Not one player played well today.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 The problem is anyone is better manager then Sven, and We WILL START THE SAME TEAM AS BEFORE! And what happens.... SVEN OFF! Soo I think every englishmen is better as a manager in Leicester then Sven or on MAN. U or else come on, we don´t like all managers in England and of course not Sven he is Swedish :scarf: I am soo too :scarf: :scarf: Looking forward April next year when we are in prem and those people who is moaning now burn in hell! Here we goes :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: I wonder if people even listened to it, his message to the fans was, "I'm sorry, that wasn't good enough from ourselves" Verbatim. Plebs. Now stop making me use Latin.
blueredswed Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 :scarf: :scarf: Trev I don´t understand appologize but? explain if it is not true... :scarf:
Bugg Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 The mistake was Sven didn't utilise the squad depth we have, he went for the same side that had played less than three days ago... Yeah what a cunt naming a unchanged side from a team that won in midweek. If he had changed it and we'd lost it would have been his fault for changing a winning team.
accessory Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Yeah what a cunt naming a unchanged side from a team that won in midweek. If he had changed it and we'd lost it would have been his fault for changing a winning team. But he didn't change it and we lost - badly. Some of the side weren't really up to playing two games in six days, let alone three. He has to take the rap. Danns's reported walkout before the game suggests not all the dressing room were convinced by his decision, and after today's non-performance, many of the fans certainly weren't either.

Yep that is what some would have said for sure not me however, playing two games in less than three days, you must change it up if the depth is there which it is.
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 For gods sake Sven picked a winning team, what the **** is he supposed to do? Once the players cross that white line it's down to them, it's what they get paid thousands to do, Sven can't hold their hands on the pitch. No complaints about team selection in this game, but there is more to managment than just picking the team.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 It's all going a little pear shaped... Danns not even on the bench, Beckford looking like a total cvnt, losing three nil (YES three-nil) at home to Millwall, Mills out for the West Ham game, a ridiculous after match interview with Sven... Who would have predicted this when everyone was so excited pre season? Oh dear.... Things have gotta get better surely?
MC Prussian Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Listen, Sven put that team out. Players were playing in their assigned positions. The players had a crap day, not Sven. Most of these guys were part of the side that beat Derby at home 4-0. Millwall were there for the taking (just like Birmingham away). You can't just blame it on the tired legs - they've had one day less to recover, but other sides have just as much of a mammoth program as we do. They've had demanding football weeks before, this is nothing new to them. Today, some players couldn't be arsed to play together and the whole setup came across as rather arrogant, lazy and disjointed. Squad rotation please. If you don't put in 100% effort, rot on the bench or make your way back up through some reserve team games or go out on loan. Can't stand the attitude of some of these players. Four CMs do work in theory (and have worked in the past at other clubs), but it appears as if Wellens and King still have a hard time accepting Johnson as one of their own. I saw hardly any cooperation between our midfield players. Disgraceful behaviour from some so-called professional football players.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Because none of the goals were schmeichels fault doesn't mean he had a good game. Every time I see a comment from you accessory its a load of crap.

If the players are consistently having 'off days' it means the manager isn't doing his job properly!

Corky Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Prussian, I agree that players need to share the blame. But you were there v Watford. Do you reckon they wanted to stop playing after half-time and sit on a lead that we were very unlikely to lose? It's about being ruthless. Thracian has said we don't have a winning mentality. He's spot on.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Deary me. That doesn't mean he had a good game though does it? Is this really too hard to understand? Dyer was the only person I could say can hold their head high. Vassell can hold his head high? Really?
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Deary me. That doesn't mean he had a good game though does it? Is this really too hard to understand? Dyer was the only person I could say can hold their head high. Vassell can hold his head high? Really? OK fine he had a 'decent' game. I don't think he really deserves the stick some other players are rightfully getting though, that's the point. Vassell showed determination and made the ball his in the final 3rd. He struggled to have any real impact on a team severely lacking in confidence but I think he put in sufficient effort for him not to get a slating as well. Same with Fernandes.
MC Prussian Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Are you going to come out with this shit every time? If the players are consistently having 'off days' it means the manager isn't doing his job properly! You can only go this far as a manager, whatever happens after the opening whistle goes is pretty much out of your hands. Either the players do what they're told in their assigned positions and give a 110%, work their ass off or they decide to just give a sh*t. Today, most of them (bar Schmeichel, Bamba, Nugent and to an extent Johnson) decided to just give a sh*t.

He's spot on. I have been thinking about this myself quite a lot and can't put my finger on it. There are only three explanations for the second half against Watford: a) Sven told the players to play it safe, slow and save their energy against Millwall (three days later) b) The players decided to give a sh*t (thinking "Watford are shit and won't score in a million years") c) A combination of a) and b) Still have a hard time making my mind up. The attitude of some of these players seriously starts to grind my gears - I think they can't handle competition very well.

Either the players do what they're told in their assigned positions and give a 110% commitment or they decide to just give a sh*t. Today, most of them decided to do just that. What point are you making? Are you saying that the players are not committed? Then they need a fookin kick up the arse... Whose gonna give them that. Happy clapper Sven? If our players are not hungry and committed what's the point in having a manager? You've lost me completely?

What about inspiring and motivating them? Does Sven not have a responsibility to do those things? Do you know what a manager is supposed to do or what? What do you suggest, we keep Sven and sack all the players? You're defending of Sven is getting embarrassing now, how can in not be his fault?

All we know is what we see. And what we've seen today (just like in the second halves against Birmingham and Watford) was a clueless team lacking any sort of creativity in midfield. Thing is, King, Wellens, Johnson and Abe CAN be creative, but not all of them playing together. It's like they're neutralizing each other, unless one or two of them step back and take over defensive duties. I didn't see any clear roles in midfield, all of them, Abe probably less so, wanted to play the playmaker and as a result, stepped on each other's toes. Which is why we lost momentum going forward and why our strikers never really found into the game. Which is why Nugent, bless him, at one point simply had enough of this mess and retreated into midfield territory himself in order to get the ball. I suggest some of these players get either fined or left out of the squad for a while. I don't defend Sven, I'm attacking the players.

Yes but ultimately, the players were in the main bought by Sven, all were selected by Sven, he gave them the tactics and the formation, he had the opportunity to sort them out at half time, to make the correct sub changes etc. The 'clueless team lacking any sort of creativity' as you put it, is down to Sven.

Attacking the players is fine, but you are defending Sven by not blaming him for the whole thing. He is charge of the team and as you very well know must take responsibility for it's long term destiny. Perhaps he can't be blamed for the team having one off day, but 5, 6, 7 - when does it become more than an off day? And before you talk to me about unbeaten runs, I'm talking about performances, playing better than the opposition and preferably, winning games, because that's what top teams do. All we know is what we see, true, and from what I'm seeing, he's clearly not motivating the players and he obviously isn't doing enough on the training ground to get the best out of them.
