Sure this is a wind-up. Our owners want success,so can't believe they'll go for a divisive figure who failed so badly at Ipswich. There can be no argument that he wasn't well supported by his board at Ipswich. He failed.

Top said we want someone who the fans will get behind! Roy Keane is not the answer, some people will not even bother going to the games.

But is Top reading these boards.

Or they sat in a plush office thinking names up.

Then bingo Roy Keane he has passionnnnnn thats what our fans want?

He played for Forest , hes a horrible bloke , hes a shit manager , ...........so No

MON played for Forest. Micky Adams managed them. Both got us promoted.

I couldn't care less if Keane had served in the RA. If he has a plan to sort out the wasters and the walking egos who currently infest our club and to inspire the rest to string a few wins, he would do for me and more importantly for our owners. We need a strong character right now and no-one can deny he ticks that box.

Brian Clough was often a scumbag as a person - a bigot, a bung-taker and a bully. But he was often also a winner. Alex Ferguson is reportedly equally flawed, but still the most successful manager in the history of British football.

Both of these individuals have had a massive influence on Keane's career and life. His managerial career has been mixed to date, but even the giants Clough and Fergie have had failures on their CV (ask Leeds and St Mirren fans).

Keane has what it takes to be a giant at one of his future clubs. If that turns out to be us, then I'll be with him every step of the way.

A lot of folk aren't bothering going to the games now. Even when Sven was here gates were lower than during the Pearson era.

He's a dick and I really hope we don't get him!

So did Mr O'Neil. I would suggest it's his other two attributes that trouble you more.

Just playing Devils whang for a bit here, but didn't he get Sunderland promoted and, granted he needed a shedload of money to do it, but you have a shedload of money.

There's every chance the Thais could just get rid for a better, more high profile man once he gets you out of the division.

He did a shocking job once they were promoted. Also, we don't want to have to pay off another manager in a years time.

Just no no no no no no to Roy Keane. I couldn't give a **** if he's popular in Thailand he's an absolute willy puller and a crap manager.

Agree accessory. I think he's also a neil warnock type of character. If he's with you you love him, if he's against you you hate him.

Keane has a self-destruct button, which is scary

We need firm, but fair.... not a mad fooker, which Keano appears to be

To replace Sven with Keane would be going from the sublime to the ridiculous...from a gent to a cvnt..so to speak

Cant we find someone in the middle?

No thank-you....

Have you read Yorke's book about some of the stuff Keane used to do to his players?

It would be the biggest disaster we could put into this football club.

Cloughie used to laugh when people mentioned how his players didnt like him, Leeds (and Justin Fashanu  ) apart, they adored them, ask any of the ones who played under him. You don't get great results from your players if they dont like you, Keane has no likeability whatsoever unless you follow a certain team who play in red.

Keane is a tawt and is no my list with shearer. We get keane i wont show my face at the KP.

Or even check the papers for the result.

Keane will have learned his lessons. No football manager succeeds in every job they take on.

Thracian and others have banged on and on about getting a man in with a "winning mentality" and nobody can deny that this is something which Keane has.

He was also a key player in one of the most attractive-to-watch Manchester United sides of the last 50 years; he'll be no long-ball merchant.

A positive, if underwhelming, appointment in my view, if he gets the job.

Pretty sure you will atleast check the result. Massive over reaction. Most of you were calling for svens head, let's be honest people don't want to manage a club who have had 8 managers in 5 years, or 11 managers in 11 years.

Are we gonna get brilliant Sunderland Keane or disastrous Ipswich Keane?

That is a risk too big to take.

Definitely gonna put at least a tenner on him whilst he's at 7-1 so I feel a bit better about it happening.

I'm not sure about that, I'm pretty sure O'Neill maintains to this day that he hated him a lot of the time, but his desire to prove him wrong was what got the best out of him.

You can go over the top though, and being an arsehole on it's own isn't enough, that's Keane's problem.

"Brilliant for one season Keane"

The rest of his time at Sunderland was shite as well.

Not the words of someone who didnt like him....

O’Neill, who has often regaled us with stories about how he found it much tougher to earn a place in Clough’s affections than Robertson, was just as fulsome in his tribute.

"I wouldn’t disagree with John," said O’Neill. "Brian Clough was absolutely sensational, a truly brilliant manager. I don’t think Brian would disagree with it either, he would have been the first one to say he was the greatest of all time.

"He was England’s version of Muhammad Ali, a more charismatic man you could not meet. He had everything. We were extremely lucky to work with someone so talented and so brilliant.

"While we had some talented players at Forest when he arrived in January 1975, the club could not have dreamed of winning championships and European Cups if Brian Clough had not been there.

"He could have stepped into any given job. People are talking now about Sir Clive Woodward moving into football. If someone had asked Brian to go and manage, say, the England cricket team, it would not have been a problem to him.

"He felt he knew enough about any subject to go and coach it. One of the great myths about him was that he was a manager, not a coach, and seldom on the training ground. The truth is that every day with Brian Clough was a coaching lesson.

"People ask you to recount a Brian Clough story, but the truth is every day with him was a Brian Clough story with each one better than the last. God, he will be badly missed."

It wasn't shite, he kept them up in their first season which was a good achievement, it was downhill from there though yes.

Madness to chose him if Billy Davies is available though. If he does an Ipswich on us we'll be the laughing stock of the league (if we're not already) and things will get nasty.

I desperately hope you are right, if these rumours are true. My fear is that to win matches, you have to get players to play for you. You can't bully people into excellence, otherwise any mug would be successful - it's about managing the guys who walk on the pitch ....... and past reputations count for nothng in that department - just look at Martin Johnson and the England Rugby flops ! My major concern is that he might be a one-trick pony ...... and the novelty of him throwing a tantrum with players will wear off sooooooooo quickly for palyers. Didn't the Ipswich goalie give up the game as a result of keane's man-management ???
