Nocturnal Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 There are optimistic fans and pessimistic fans and downright mental fans. There are the owners and the stadium and the management and the players. There’s the badge and the kit and the colours. But none of these things really define Leicester City. What defines it is your very first home game. What define it are the relationship and the roller coaster journey that comes with it. It’s about supporting your team, the electricity in the stadium, last gasp goals and penalties. It’s the camaraderie between the fans and the banter with the opposition. It’s about the friends you made through supporting your team, the community you became involved in from your very first game. A community you are part of reading this very board. So before you complain about the owners or the management...Ian Dowie, Billy Davies, Dougie Freedman....the sacking of Sven....before you moan about the goal music and modern football... Remember what it’s all about.

PAULCFC Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 For me it's about supporting my home town club and raising my lad to do the same.Going in to work and getting the piss ripped out of me by all the manu, chelski, liverpool and just recently man city "fans" because we lost again(but i was actually usually at the match!)But it makes winning a game(or putting up a good performance all that sweeter)Chelsea, tottenham, man city.

Cropwellfox Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Great sentinement, and i agree, but at the moment what Leicester City also is, is a complete ****ing shambles. Tonight, after 14 games we are just 2 points better than where we were at this point in the Allen / Megson / Holloway season, with seemingly just as robust a strategy for picking managers in place Relegation to League One presented the chance to cut out the years of inconsistency, lack of pride, direction and focus at the club, and under NPs management things started to change. Super Steve's header in injury time against Leeds to all but take us back up saw a packed house united behind our team and manager for the first time in years, and after spending very little money really, we found ourselves ahead of expectations the following season - remember how many games Weale, Neilson, Brown, Oakley etc started. New investment was promised and surely the signs of continued progress were in place - god how wrong this was. A manager who, perhaps not charismatic and producing champagne football, was forced out, and two attempts at trying to 'play' our way out of the division have failed miserably, while Pearson is building, on a fraction of the budget we've had, a team who look a great bet for the playoffs - 3 of 'our' hopes for the future contributing to their consistency. And now what do we have, despite spending in the summer which I never dared to dream we'd have at the club after administration? We have a number of over-paid, underachievers, their final big contract, tied for 3 or 4 years on stupid money. We have absolutely no balance in the squad - having to rely on Steve Howard as our only type of plan b - a defence who just cannot cope without 1 player who will pick up suspension after suspension this year, and only 1 true wide player in the squad, who always blew hot and cold and wasn't consistent enough in his delivery even when we had other wingers in the squad. For all of our supposed stars, the togetherness in the squad has got to be questionned - how did that collection of players put in that first half performance today, after what happened against Millwall last week and everything that's happened since? Whoever gets the job needs more than this season to progress. The absolute worst thing we can do is what we tried last season - panic buying and loaning in a load of players who won't be around next season. I don't think it's any particular coincidence that if you look at the teams who are performing better than expectations this season, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Derby, Middlesborough, are in at least a second season of a similar squad of players. Us having to start yet again with wholesale changes next year would decrease our chances of success yet again. This rediculous pressure from our owners of wanting success now now now will end up in disaster - for all of the money supposedly behind QPR it was year 3 when they were actually promoted. I'd far rather somebody came in who had strong coaching support and was guaranteed at least 18 months, and had the remainder of this season to bring a team together who can really compete next season. For all of the negativity with our current situation and position, I don't doubt that a tighter unit based around Schmeichel, Peltier, Mills, Tunch, Danns, King, Abe, Dyer, Nugent and Schlupp, if reinforced by a younger battering ram centre forward, additional wide men, and strength at the back, would challenge if allowed the space to make mistakes this season and stay together for next. Excuse the mini essay, i just wish to god i didn't care so much, it should have been so different this year.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Leicester city is Ecstasy, anguish joy & despair. Also a love. Also a negative effect on the body due to us hanging on at the end of alot of games over the years.
