ChampionFox50 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 If Carlsberg made football managers He would pick players in there best position He would create a balanced team He would know his best 11 He would have a prefered formation He would be able to get the best out of each player He would know which players to kick and which to put his arm around He would have a plan B when things arn't going your way He would command respect from the players (they don't fook him about) His team have a good disapline record on and off the pitch You don't hear any rumours about team spirit He would have a track record of success I wonder who would fit the bill I know what about Nigel Pearson ?

See I really can't disagree! Your going to get abuse, but LCFC should never have pushed him out of the club! But its gone now... Nigel <3

As mush as i agree and would love to see big nige back in charge. im not he fits entirely the carlsberg criteria youve put there... players in their best position? no, gradel out hugging the line to zero effect, grayson moves him in to the middle behind the front two and hes dynamite! get the best of players? DJ campbell. players dont **** him about? again, campbell and others. i reckon he'd be a great shout as he'll have learnt from tiny tiny mistakes made with us and hull, and his commitment to the fitness side of things would mean we wouldnt see 27 year old athletes supposedly in their prime blowing out their arses after an hours running!

Thracian Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 He would know which players to kick and which to put his arm around Yes, I remember him putting his arm round Gradel at Milton Keynes and later kicking him big time! . The qualities you mention are commmendable but they're not all we require and I don't know that Pearson's not too stubborn to change and embrace more expansive football. But if he does get the chance I wish him luck.

You can't win em all look at some of Martin O'Neill's signings and style of play at times but similar to O'Neill got most of the big things right in 2 seasons Pearson nearly got us from the worst position in LCFC history to the premier league with very limited budget question is can he overcome high morals to come back
ScouseFox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Matt Oakley as a right winger still makes me want to cry.
nuttytimmy Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Pearson coming back would be a strange turn of events, but I feel that - despite the wrongs done to him by Mandaric and Hoos - he had happy times at Leicester and could be persuaded to come back. Then again, almost the same could be said for O'Neill.

Kitchandro Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 ...and Oakley on the wing. This. Whilst I dont' disagree Pearson is a good manager and he should never have been sacked, this drove me mad. Also it musn't be forgotten about Gradel - yes Nigel got the best out of the majority of our players but he pushed the most talented one out. I'd suggest he wouldn't manage egos with some of the players here but get rid of them altogether. Whilst that is necessary in some cases, you only have to look at Gradel with Leeds, there didn't seem to be any suggestion of team spirit affected by him (apart from that game against Bristol Rovers where he almost cost them promotion. But even after that, he seemed to mature and Grayson got the best out of him through man-management. I don't think Pearson would be the right choice for this team at this point.
flowwolf Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Folk's it's only football. Step outside your front door turn off you computer and reach out and talk to people , even if they don't give a **** for football , they are probably much more interesting than anything you can read on here including me . :chant: :chant: :chant: :chant: :chant:
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Martin O'Neill fits the bill much more than Nige
Finnegan Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Yes, I remember him putting his arm round Gradel at Milton Keynes and later kicking him big time! . I can't handle it any more.
lcfcadam Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Are you guys seriously being negative about the days in which we had Robbie Neilson at right-back and Matt Oakley at right-mid? QPR away under Pearson was probably my favourite ever away day and as as far as I can remember it worked a treat that day...
David Guiza Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 If Carlsberg did football managers, a fair amount of people on here would still not take him.

lcfcadam Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 With big thanks to Radek Cerny Well yeah, Radek is to this day my favourite professional footballer of all time...

Shame he didn't choose to exercise his Plan B against Cardiff at home 1st leg. Might be sitting in the premier league right now. Pearson was fantastic for us. I'd always have time for him, but to describe him as the near on perfect manager is a bit far fetched. In fact every manager has their flaws whether they have many of them and how they impact their ability to do the job changes from manager to manager, of course. You were quite right about team spirit though. Apart from good ol' Wayne Brown . . . if the rumours were true.
