Phube Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Stupid Ref? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaN51Yk42dk&feature=youtube_gdata_player But really... some common sense!!! That is ridiculous! I'd be fuming if I was a fan of theirs!!
MikeyT Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Oh God! How thick can you get! Common sense indeed needed. Haha
a_k_b Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Fair play to the player. He Just walked off! I would have gone mad if that was me. Lets face it. It is the most stupid rule.
Dylan Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 I'm sure the law is under the Celebration of a Goal section of fouls and misconduct; rather than general play. Love to hear DB11's take on this?
marko Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 What a stupid decision. He's hardly doing referees any favours.

Phube Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 I'll give you that one for free. The ref is always right. "In his opinion, the ref was applying the rules" And thus you cannot say he was wrong...
lcfcadam Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 I'm sure the law is under the Celebration of a Goal section of fouls and misconduct; rather than general play. Love to hear DB11's take on this? No laws even come into it in this kind of situation - when you do the referee training the most important thing the experienced tutors keep banging on about is APPLICATION OF COMMON SENSE. Any one of the very experienced refs who gave the course I did would agree that the official has made a ridiculous decision in this instance...
gazfox9 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 what a deadhead. He must obviously love the paperwork.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Thought the law ony applied to goal celebrations... Ether that or to cover up his 'mare the ref could claim that he was delaying the start of play because he was walking off but think that would be a poor excuse
DB11 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Well it can't be for taking his top off. Maybe, not on the camera, he's said something to the referee so got a second yellow card for dissent.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 As I'm aware the law was introduced because players took too long to get their shirts back on? (I may be wrong) As he was going off, what's the problem? Thought the law ony applied to goal celebrations... Ether that or to cover up his 'mare the ref could claim that he was delaying the start of play because he was walking off but think that would be a poor excuse He can't even use that he was jogging!
Jimothy Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Well it can't be for taking his top off. Maybe, not on the camera, he's said something to the referee so got a second yellow card for dissent. Can't be for that because if he had, surely the ref, close enough to hear it, would have sent him off before he had the chance to get to the touchline. The ref is clearly, by jogging across the pitch after him, reacting to what he's doing. Also the camera follows the player from the moment he begins his walk to the touchline, and he didn't say anything during that, and if he's said anything before than, he would already have been sent off.

Well I'd hope it would be for anything but taking his top off, as he cannot possibly do that.
Jimothy Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Well I'd hope it would be for anything but taking his top off, as he cannot possibly do that. Well he can if he's got it wrong.
ScouseFox Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Well it can't be for taking his top off. Maybe, not on the camera, he's said something to the referee so got a second yellow card for dissent. Amazing.
DB11 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Amazing. Wait until you see me juggle, too! Well he can if he's got it wrong. Well yeah, he can do what he wants, but it's not necessarily correct.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Wait until you see me juggle, too! Well yeah, he can do what he wants, but it's not necessarily correct. Bet you'd have booked Billy Sharp.
DB11 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Bet you'd have booked Billy Sharp. Honestly? Yes. I'd have apologised to him whilst doing it, mind.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Honestly? Yes. I'd have apologised to him whilst doing it, mind. Ref or pariah? You don't HAVE to be a social outcast.
DB11 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Ref or pariah? You don't HAVE to be a social outcast. At that level your career has to come before any sentiment. If the shirt is raised over the head, then it's a mandatory caution. I don't agree with it, and have every sympathy for the Sharp family, but it's about the only thing that is black and white and all referees usually react the same. Same game, another player scores and takes his top off celebrating you'd caution him then. Then you'd be seen to be giving Billy Sharp a free ride.
