artursteppe Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Schmeichel Pantsil Mills Bamba Konchesky Peltier Abe Johnson Fernandes Nugent Beckford Fernandes to harass and chase down opposition defenders ( bit like Robbie Savage used to ) and he would be our first line of defense. Peltier, without a doubt one of our best attacking players who would be even more dynamic from midfield rather than from fullback. Could form a great partnership with Pantsil. Good defensive qualities for a midfield player. Abe and Johnson can move the ball at pace read the game and have a strong positional sense to cover when required. All in all a team full of quality that could control matches for very long periods, defend professionally and create a high number of goal scoring opportunities.
MikeyT Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I actually thought that too in regards to Peltier and Pantsil and sticking Pelts in midfield. Doubt it'll happen though.
Topman Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Quite like that team but ain't gonna happen if Pearson is the manager, he likes his home boys, wellans, king, dyer, gallergher, Howard will get the nod

And let this team playing 5 times and perhaps King can came in sometimes. And upfront not HOWARD I prefer Schlupp to be our next TOP scorer (exuse mee could not let it...) :scarf:

Libertine Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 The defence picks itself. Pearson would be foolish to change it, the only possible exception is if Tunchev were to come in.
leicesterisme Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Quite like that team but ain't gonna happen if Pearson is the manager, he likes his home boys, wellans, king, dyer, gallergher, Howard will get the nod Not really. Just that's all he had avaliable when he was with us. You seem to be forgetting we didn't have the financial resources to go out and spend £4m+ on one player.
absolutelegend Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 The teams suggested in this thread all look as equally as ineffective going forward as the ones we normally put out. I think the manager has a hard job. He totally needs to revamp the midfield, but I just can't see what he could do.

Interesting idea about Peltier, certainly worth a go whilst we're in need of some width. I'd swap Fernandes with Abe and then put King in just behind the strikers, who will rediscover his form under Pearson I have no doubt.
Jace Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Bit of a random idea I've just had but could this work? GK Schmeichel RB Peltier/pantsil CB Mills CB Bamba LB Tunchev RW Dyer CM Fernandes/King CM Wellens/Abe LW Konchesky CF Nugent CF Vassell/Beckford or have I just been playing too much football manager and not seen enough games this season??

marbelladave Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 The suggestion of playing Peltier in midfield has been put forward before but usually ignored. Not by me, I was one of the posters suggesting it. Strangely this is an idea that I no longer support, our midfield is in such chaos that I feel it would be very hard for Peltier to make an impact and given the performances of Pantsil, could unsettle our already somewhat twitchy defence. I now favour a different option, that of playing Abe wide right. However I would set them up so that Peltier continues to provide the attacking threat while Abe gets up and down and covers the gaps, we have tried something like this quite recently which I thought was working well, but if I recall, Abe got a knock and that was the end of it..... Abe is one of the few players who has actually played his position when given the wide role, everyone else tries to play down the middle so although this is clearly a temporary fix, it does have the value of giving us a decent shape, on this flank at least.
CloudFox Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 How about this? I'll admit Tunchev is a bit of a sentimental choice, but I would love to see how he fares there. It's also mainly so that Bamba can make some more marauding runs forward, and get into the box more for set-pieces with less of a risk. When we do go under pressure, however, he could drop back and clear up before it even gets to the CBs. I know it's been bandied about plenty, but I'd like to see how he did in that Defensive Midfield role. I would put Beckford up front instead of Schlupp, but until Beckford gets a bit fitter and more into the team, I think Schlupp should really be given a run as a central striker. Yay or nay?

nuttytimmy Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Of course! I forgot that Pearson's a moron and would pick a never-has-been Chris Weale ahead of one of our best signings in years. And, y'know, he'll think nothing of dropping a defensive partnership that's growing just so he can play a crocked League One player and Bruno Berner. And, of course, he won't attempt to get the best out of Nugent - who to my mind is like Fryatt, but 10x better - he'll just play Gallagher at the top instead. ****ing hell.
marbelladave Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 One thing i do not understand....... We have in our squad a player who has played the holding role in a pretty decent Premier league team, yet cannot get a game in that position for us, we have preferred Wellens in that role FFS......... We can hardly say that Sven was unaware of Fernandes' prowess as a holding player, so why did he play him in a wide attacking role? To accomodate Wellens? Simply does not make sense........

I want to see him back in that role, he hasn't played there much. I have a few doubts as to whether he's the right fit for this league, but definitely needs another shot.

Well not exactly, but when we played the 4-3-3 at the start. Though Yuki and Wellens were also there so it's debatable who was doing what. I'd like to see that, but eventually with Beckford in the middle and Nugent in place of Abe. Still need at least one winger though.

I quite like the look of that! Why not put Danns on the left-hand side of the front midfield trio (or swap Abe onto that side)? Or Gally for that matter.

kingfox Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Schmeichel Peltier Mills Bamba Konchesky Abe Fernandes King Vassell Nugent Beckford Defence has been good this season in some aspects, seems to be settling. Prefer Yuki and Fernandes in midfield, they link up very well and with Yuki drifting to the right of midfield he has been very effective this season. Vassell, Nugent and Beckford front three will be dangerous and we might aswell give it a shot.

I'm not having a go at Beckford but he is not the kind of player to lead the line in that way, Nugent has to be the man for me, best players in their best positions and all that...... Prior to the last couple of weeks I had assumed Danns would be a shoo in for the creative role, but his recent form has been very average. Then again no one in our midfield has actually stepped up consistently so it may be unfair to single any one player out......
