artursteppe Posted 7 December 2011 Author Posted 7 December 2011 If you weren't one of those then what's your problem with him? Prat. I am sorry if the fact that I have an opinion upsets you, I simply loath people who have no appreciation of the majority but get upset about a minority. What is your problem with that? Oh, wait a minute, the problem is you couldn't understand what I was saying. Don't worry, I won't abuse your inadequacies. Relax, don't try to stretch your mind.
Jace Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Remember Martin O Neill recommended Craig Levein to Leicester? Maybe that was revenge for the 200 fans at the Sheff United game?
Ambitious Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 We should have never let him go, imagine where we'd be now if he'd had stayed all this time...
Chap84 Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 Remember Martin O Neill recommended Craig Levein to Leicester? Maybe that was revenge for the 200 fans at the Sheff United game? What is with all the recommendations? Craig levein ? Roy keane? Who else ? When did Martin get this job with us recommending are next manager? Funny how he seems to do this but he carn't tell us he doesn't want the managers job again?
Jordan Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 O'Neil has stated today that he has two games to get the fans behind him because 'this is a results business'. This is the same O'Neil who in his Irish girly way never forgot the now famous 200 who voiced their dissatisfaction with him after seven poor performances during an away match at Sheffield United. Arsehole! He never appreciated that after that match he became the most adored manager in English football since Bill Shankley of Liverpool. He persistently referred to the derision, never the adoration. I really hope Sunderland get relegated and he is sacked for the first time. I think it's less of a case of O'Neill changing than it is the game itself and the circumstances his teams are facing that have changed. Of course, top-flight status has always been important for teams to have. And yes, it must have been quite disconcerting for Leicester fans to see what looked like certain promotion in the winter of 95/96 collapsing after McGhee left and was replaced by O'Neill. But despite Sunderland's large fan base, and parachute payments for relegated teams, sometimes the gap between the Premiership haves and the Football League have-nots can be massive. Premiership status is more valuable now than it was 16 years ago. Sunderland are in a precarious situation, just one point ahead of the drop zone. They really don't have much time to tinker with things, as a dropped point here or there could be the difference between survival and relegation. Plus, there's no way the Sunderland board hired O'Neill with the intentions of rebuilding the squad in the Championship.

You said he kept going on about the "200". You stated you weren't one of those. So O'Neill didn't have a problem with you because you weren't part of the 200. I think he appreciated the majority of our fans who stuck by the team.
hairy Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 I just always thought that O'Neill was a 'knob' because he never showed any appreciation for the fans who adored him. Bollox! He constantly showed his appreciation of the fans. The fans were his greatest power against the Board who had been split with his arrival.
surrifox Posted 7 December 2011 Posted 7 December 2011 I believe that he suggested that if any of the "200" wanted to debate his team selection or tactics he would be delighted to hear from them if they cared to ring him at the club. That is pretty ballsy

Buffoon !!! Martin loved his time at City ! The fans (something you obviously are an excuse for)adored him and it was mutual . When it comes to "knobs" ......you are undoubtedly the prime example (especially with chickens)

Have some people forgotten that the vacant managers job at Leeds Utd was Martins for the taking, & he later told us that the main reason that he turned it down was because of the massive showing by the City fans that they didn't want him to leave. So, yes he was upset by the demonstration at the end of the Sheffield game, but he didn't hold it against the supporters. I believe that he actually phoned some of the protesters that had written to him at the football club, & shot them down in flames! Just like his mentor the infamous Brian Clough! Good luck to him, he's gone to a potentially massive club that could eventually rival Newcastle their 'enemy'. I know that Steve (Walford???) has joined him, but has John Robertson also gone there?

Turned down Everton as well !

You sound like a bitter little man
artursteppe Posted 8 December 2011 Author Posted 8 December 2011 For fooks sake! Artur Askey is back again... You sound like a bitter little man Not really. I don't know why everyone is getting so upset. Make yourself a nice little skinny latte and curl up with your favourite cuddly toy. I loved the O'Neil era. I just don't think he ever appreciated the best support any manager has had in the last thirty years. Check out Nigel Pearson's comments after the Hull game and even you might be able to understand what I mean. I think it would be quite funny if Sunderland got relegated. I don't want to stab the bloke, he is a bit strange, but that's no reason for me to actually hate him. Maybe folks aught to chill just a little, there seems to be a lot of childish over-reaction on here lately!

You ask the question re why some people are over-reacting? With your OP are you really surprised? You may have a point or not.. I really don't know.. But to hurl that level of vitriol against possibly LCFCs best loved manager is asking for trouble. You might has well have said that Lennon was a Donkey or that Walshwas over rated.. The reaction would have been the same. The usual rule of thumb is this... Don't knock a Leicester City Legend because you won't get any change from so doing.

Corky Posted 8 December 2011 Posted 8 December 2011 I'm not quite sure what your problem is, and why you keep yawning. You don't think O'Neill appreciated the support. You gave an example of this. Others believe he did, and provided examples. So we'll never know for definite.

Artur Askey accused me of being a Coventry supporter only a fortnight ago. It appears that people who don't agree with his nonsense get branded as lovers of Coventry for some bizarre reason... lol

artursteppe Posted 8 December 2011 Author Posted 8 December 2011 Corky, I apologise to you, I do have a feeling that we have had similar views on things. As for those two chumps Colcityfan, and Wherethefoxhat, they can't even work out that my name 'Arturstep' is simply a parody on 'out of step' in a midland accent, from which those who have an IQ of more than 1 or 2 digits would understand that I like to be provocative, different and at times outrageous. I would never wish to categorise you in their dim bracket. Drop Wellens, he is crap!
