Beckford desperately wants to be a success here - Pearson

Thought Dyer played well today. Did well against his defender in the first half. Lacking the final product which is annoying. Gallagher, Wellens and Bamba were below average for me today. We just had no cutting edge.

It was a Dyer performance average he isn't the answer to our problems on the wing, but admit tingly we don't have any wingers except for him so NP will play him untill we get replacements in January.

Yep exactly. It wasn't good but at least he took on players. If he had a final product he'd be worth keeping he just can't cross the ball well enough for a winger. Really hope we get 2 wingers who can cross.

Ain't that the truth? Still no chemistry with Nugent, or indeed the rest of the side. At least he put the effort in today, though.

Yeah gotta be fair to him, like I said yesterday in my first post in this thread, he is putting more effort in under Pearson and he is improving, but his finishing is woeful, hopefully this changes believe me if they are in a Leicester shirt of course I don't want them to fail, but he seriously needs to work and work and work on finishing because that is what people are getting frustrated and losing patience quickly with, that may be down to lack of confidence but like other people have mentioned if he can't walk the walk don't talk the talk saying 'Only weak people feel pressure'.

Also I don't think he is lacking confidence I feel his ego is too big to be lack confidence.

I can't believe that a striker who is paid 25k per week, on a four year contract is continually lauded for 'putting in the effort'.

I think a 25k per week striker, who has played in the Prem and who is still only 28/29? should be scoring goals at this level.

His return this season is woeful

And for those people on here who are knocking Lloyd Dyer's contribution today whilst continuing to say that 'Beckford needs to be given a chance', take a long, hard look at yourselves.

Dyer tore them to bits first half, delivered some great final balls, and neither Beckford nor Nugent were anywhere near them.

What about taking a fookin gamble?

For god sake it doesnt matter if your the best striker in the world if you dont get the service you wont score goals. The only half decent ball threw to him today he hit the inside of the post

Beckford got no service at all today.

Mainly because he's making the wrong runs.

That said, if Messi was up front today ahead of Wellens and King he'd have struggled to bag.

Note for Fox92: I don't think Messi is going to sign for Leicester

Was willing to give him time but no longer bothered about the guy after today.

Beckford is the striker that people are willing to improve, to start scoring goals and to prove that he is the player that all hoped he would be... ie. the finisher, the 20 goal a season man that this City team needs. Many are also willing this because many have blown him out of all proportion and don't want to get their proverbial fingers burnt.

I've watched City for decades, like many others and think that I can recognise a decent striker.

A number come to mind... Cottee, Heskey, Dickov, Claridge, Joachim to name but a few.. All were strikers who could get on the end of chances, but, as importantly, make and take chances themselves. I remember Dickov, for example, hassling defenders, being a nuisance, and turning and spinning on the edge of the area before cooly slotting the ball into the corner of the net. If the ball dropped in the box, it was often Dickov that instinctively knew where it was gonna drop.

Believe me, from what I've seen of Beckford's all round game, he is not in the same league as these players...in fact he's miles away.

You can live in hope and overlook his limitations all you want to.

For me, we can do much better than Beckford.

The problem is that Sven has saddled us with a striker who's on big wages and a four year contract. Somehow Pearson needs to get him scoring goals cos I can't for the life of me see anyone wanting to sign him and match his salary.

I do think if anyone can, Pearson can... but Beckford is nothing special, not at all

I really do get FCUKED off with this scape goating every week . This week again it's

Insert player here.................

Try this one SVEN GORAN ERICKSON

Oh and WE ARE NOT THAT GOOD!

Money buys nothing .......Remember that!

Beckford was much improved today, I thought, with his good positioning going wasted by a lack of imagination from the midfield.

Beckford played as an individual. He made some really determined runs - and with great urgency - only to be frustrated at not receiving a pass but the bloke never gives a pass either. Times players like Nugent or Peltier make the effort to move into space or promising situations and Beckford just ignores them.

It's alright blaming the midfield but Beckford's so difficult for team-mates to gel with. In certain situations he's dangerous no question -and particularly his ability to wriggle a space and get a shot off early. But as a team player I've seen nothing. No lay-offs to oncoming colleagues, no give-and-goes, no appreciation of the opportunities around him whatsoever.

"Appreciation of the opportunities around him?" Are you stoned? Do you watch us play completely high?

There's a complete and total lack of movement in the final third from our players, who are you expecting Beckford to pick out with some give and go?

The first half yesterday was a classic example. We were swarming all over them, pushing bodies forward, coming at them. But all they had to do was stick ten men behind the ball and we never looked like scoring, we just had to be content with passing it around infront of them, looking good. Beckford's one of our few players, Gallagher aside, who'll at least turn and ****ing hit it.

I agree entirely.

Beckford seems to have no appreciation of his teammates, instead choosing to run with the ball at feet and losing it time and time again.

From what I've read, it's only you and myself who have commented on Beckfords lack of appreciation of Danns, where a simple look up and cross to him waiting on the back stick would have won us the game.

Danns bust a gut to get into this position only to see Prima Donna try an outrageous lob that went sailing wide.

I maintain that most are in denial over Beckford. His goals tally is rubbish, his all round game dire and we are lumbered, it would seem, with an expensive, temperamental player who falls on his fookin arse all the time.

Nige... Go and get Billy Sharpe in... Novembers player of the month with four goals in four games is my shout.

Agree with you about Beckford's willingness to shoot; I think that's an admirable trait and one which should get him 2 or 3 extra goals this season that other strikers wouldn't.

I'm not sure what others are seeing off the ball though. He seems static for me, and when he does make a run it's almost invariably the wrong one.

Mate.... Really think about what you have just written....

Beckfords 'willingness to shoot'!

For fooks sake he's a striker!!!

It's a good job all of our other strikers over the years had this 'willingness to shoot'..

We wouldn't have got many goals otherwise..

God in heaven....

lol lol

Don't think he did much wrong today, did he? Had one tidy chance and was unlucky to hit the post. The header in the first half didn't quite fall for him but he only narrowly missed the target.

We seem desperate to make a scapegoat out of one of the new signings while, to be fair, it's a lot of the old guard that have been our worst players so far this season.

I'm willing to reserve judgement on ANY striker that plays for us at the moment until we actually start supplying them with acceptable service.

Only thing I WOULD say about Beckford today is that I've noticed he, to be fair, wins far more flick-on headers than Steve ****ing Howard and he does it without falling on the floor and waving his arm at the ref every two minutes.

You can't be serious?? Beckford is always falling over and then shouting at the ref!

Next time you go and watch Leicester count how many times our players get into decent shooting positions and pass the buck.

Somebody's got to shoot, and in the last two home matches Beckford has unleashed decent surprise shots which have almost got him a goal.

As I've said elsewhere, the rest of his play leaves a lot to be desired, but, with respect, I think you're looking at my point too simplistically, which is odd given that otherwise we seem to be in agreement about Beckford.

When he's tackled, yes. Not when he's going up for a header.

If Steve Howard was a horse he'd have been shot months ago. Years ago.

I will happily hold my hand up and say I do have a natural bias against Howard, he represents everything I hate in football; but he isn't as bad as I make out and I am aware of that. But he's no longer Championship quality and it's an absolute embarrassment that we're still bringing him on to be some sort of match-winning impact player. Desperate.

Col City fan i tend to agree with alot of your posts. I really want Beckford to prove me wrong big time but sadly up to present he is shite utter shite

Spot on his time is running out I hope we get rid of him come January.

With respect mate I can't really agree with you over the shooting bit.

Gally is happy to have a punt, as is Nuge and, to be fair, Beckford.. King has a decent shot of course as demonstrated in his goal tally.

And Lloyd Dyer yesterday had the most shots of all. The player that don't fookin shoot when he fookin should is Wellens IMO. And, interestingly, sooper Steve.

Agree with you completely over Beckford though.

Sorry if I sounded flippant. I get your point but don't think I agree entirely pal

As i have already stated, i hope he proves me wrong but Beckford is a waste of money and a bad signing (desperate signing if you look back)

He was a panic signing by Sven, signings like this show how inept Sven really was.

Beckford just doesnt look happy, we cant afford to keep giving him time either, it has to be soon he starts firing or never.
