Webbo Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Gary Dobson and David Norris were today found guilty of the murder of Stephen Lawrence in a landmark conviction which has taken 18 years to secure. The verdict is a hard-won victory for the black teenager's parents Doreen and Neville who have fought tirelessly to see justice for their son, who was 18 when he died. As the foreman of the jury of four women and eight men announced the guilty verdict, Stephen's parents began to weep. Head Honcho Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Here's hoping that other unsolved case's will have just as much money and media exposure........................or maybe not! At least we have a couple of right nasty bastards banged up now!
StanSP Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 From Twitter.... Stephen Lawrence lived for 18 years, 7 months and 9 days. It took 18 years, 8 months and 12 days to bring his killers to justice. It took way too long for justice to be brought to Lawrence and his family. But I am glad that justice has finally prevailed.
anotherwin Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Great news, agree it took too long for justice to finally prevail. I hope these killer's sing like birds naming the others involved. What about the mother of one of the killers? didn't she lie in court saying her son was at home at the time of the murder? can't she face trial for perjury?

At least now they'll have to admit their guilt before they're released.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Excuse my ignorance, but i thought these were convicted years ago and were appealing this time round. Either way, at least justice has now prevailed
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Good result, if somebody kills another person irrespective of any other issue its just wrong full stop. Best wishes to the family of Stephen
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Justice has been done at last then, good, just as StanSP has said though its just taken far too long for the family of Stephen Lawrence
Guest MattP Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 They were always going down whatever the evidence this time..
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Great news, it also made all the news networks over here.
buzzy Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 about time to now bang up the other 3 and also the bent police as well because they were a ****ing jike racists bastards
Alexikokopops Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Sentencing tomorrow at 11.30am I think. Interesting I've heard tat they will be sentenced as though they are juveniles because they were when they committed the murder over 18 years ago
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Interesting I've heard tat they will be sentenced as though they are juveniles because they were when they committed the murder over 18 years ago That does get taken in to consideration in most crimes.
Raj Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Justice wont have been done until ALL of them go down...2 down...3 to go...
Guest MattP Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Justice wont have been done until ALL of them go down...2 down...3 to go... I still don't understand how all 5 can be? It said one shouted a racist insult and one stabbed here? Surely one should be in for murder, one for racially aggraviated disorder and the other three affray?

Surely one should be in for murder, one for racially aggraviated disorder and the other three affray? Who's to say which one of the 5 thugs actually did the deed? If what you say IS correct then until the OTHER 3 are done for, atleast, affray then as Mrs Lawrence said, justice isnt fully done

Surely the blood spec on a jacket says Dobson was the one who did it as they havnt found a thing on the other three.
StanSP Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Interesting I've heard tat they will be sentenced as though they are juveniles because they were when they committed the murder over 18 years ago Yep, which means they may only get 15 years, compared to 30 which is what they would face if they committed the crime as adults.

Raj Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 Exactly....which should mean the Cops go after the other 3. They ALL went after Lawrence when they attacked him. They should ALL go down.
Guest MattP Posted 4 January 2012 Posted 4 January 2012 Surely they would be accessories? Yeah exactly, assuming both knew he had the intent to murder. The convictions today are directly murder...I don't understand that.

leicsmac Posted 4 January 2012 Posted 4 January 2012 Yeah exactly, assuming both knew he had the intent to murder. The convictions today are directly murder...I don't understand that. As far as I can tell, prearranged presence at the scene of the crime (which is true in this case, think it's pretty clear that they both made the decision to approach Lawrence) automatically makes both defendants here convictable for an accessory charge...but to actually have both convicted of murder there must have been evidence which suggested that both of them directly contributed to his death during the attack (murder), rather than one remaining passive and offering encouragement (accessory to murder)

I also think it's wrong that these people seem to be tried again for a charge that a jury already a quitted them of. Perfectly happy to accept they are guilty, but don't really think that's the important issue here. Much wider civil liberties at stake
