gw_leics772 Posted 4 January 2012 Posted 4 January 2012 This is one of those that makes it onto greatest ever dvd's - it was even on Shitty BT vision under "greatest ever hat tricks" and greatest ever comebacks.. I see it as one of those I was there when moments. You had to applaud even as a spotty little oik in the Krazy Kop Korner, but the fact that we were 2-1 down on ~ 86, and 3-1 on 90 (roughly) and managed to draw makes it an unbelievable day all round. Now he was something special. I know Cantona was great but I saw more of Bergkamp first hand in that game. Almost on a par with Micky Galloway getting Vinnie Samways and Duncan Ferguson sent off in the same game with the old pinch and twist routine. OP, thanks for bringing back excellent memories.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 We never knew when we were beaten that is what I loved about those days players kept on going till the very end, magical times hopefully to be repeated in the near future. That old Analogy foxes never quit! I always look out for this game on Pay TV as the EPL Classic Matches seen it on a few times. Also love it as my brother is an Arsenal "fan" also like bringing up the Hignett equaliser in 03/04 5 days before i flew out to see City plaay for the first time so i was buzzing for days after that one.
Babylon Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Bloody hell, we've got enough to be negative about without conceding things will never be any good again no matter how successful we are! Maybe people have just forgotten what it's like to have good times? For me it's more than the winning (whilst obviously that helps). I was a different person and had a different life back then, I was 18/19/20 with no worries, going home and away to every game I could having a laugh with a big group of mates. Being able to stand up in the Kop (even though it was chairs then) and being able to throw yourself 20ft if you scored. The songs, the atmosphere, being right next to the away fans and all the agro that went on in that corner. Add to that the fact we were bloody fantastic, the almost constant trips to Wembley, European nights, winning cups, amazing games. The buzz I had about football then was about more than just results, and that's why I don't think I will ever get that back.
Babylon Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Micky Galloway Hard as nails... anyone mental enough to take on big Dunc is a legend to me. Loved him during his short spell.
MikeyT Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I wasn't even born then Gary Parker set pieces were how they should be taken. If it makes you feel any better. I was 17 then but used to hate football, so I missed all those great years too. I started following football and Leicester the season Peter Taylor took over, FFS! Haha
James. Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Was in the upper tier of the Double Decker for that. To date probably the best game of football I've ever been to. I think I cried when the 3rd Leicester goal went in. Forgot about Elliott's goal as well, reminds me of the good old days when we'd shove Elliott or Walsh up front for the last 10 minutes. Worked a few times as well!

Ike O'Noclassed Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Was it Ian Wright (unused sub) who was having a go at Walsh after the final whistle? Actually, Wrighty started the game but had been subbed earlier, when I think they were confident of closing the game out 2-1. There's a clip of him doing a high fives-style "mission accomplished" lap of honour round the Arsenal dugout. Poor, deluded fool.
philce Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I also do recognize one of the Leicester stewards - the one with blonde hair and the beard, wearing glasses. Still active 14 years on, is he? Yes he was in L block until this season, Ken Bates we called him!
whoareyaaa Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I was there great game that night, seems like yesterday those were the days!! and you still here people saying that they would rather play championship football.. what a loada bollox
The Doctor Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I was there great game that night, seems like yesterday those were the days!! and you still here people saying that they would rather play championship football.. what a loada bollox I'm sorry, what is "bollox" about wanting to play in a competitive league that hasn't been skewed beyond recognition by money, a league where, although the fans are still ripped off, you can get into a game for less than £50-odd?

So surely you want us to keep losing so we don't get promoted to the 'big bad league where all the teams have so much monies'
The Doctor Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 So surely you want us to keep losing so we don't get promoted to the 'big bad league where all the teams have so much monies' No, care to point out where I said that? I'd just rather stay in this division if given the choice, Of course I want city to do well, but I'm not too fussed if we were to miss out on promotion, because I can still fall back on the over-priced, sometimes unaffordable tickets, some decent away games and most games being 3pm Saturday - as opposed to extortionate tickets, crap away games (Wigan, Bolton and co) and fvck knows when.

We could well have those crap away games in this division next year.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I'm sorry, what is "bollox" about wanting to play in a competitive league that hasn't been skewed beyond recognition by money, a league where, although the fans are still ripped off, you can get into a game for less than £50-odd? I understand what you are saying about the prices in the prem etc... But what's the point of striving for success, to better yourself if you simply want to stay in the Championship? No point in continuing to play football is there? In fact, we could go the whole hog and try to lose in order to not be promoted?
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 As good as it was, our 3rd equaliser was just pure ****ing awesomeness.
