bluesbrothers Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 Well hey there again Foxes Talk, it's your old pal BluesBrothers. I've not been online since about October, owing to starting a new job and having less time to procrastinate. But in the new year, with the run of pretty poor results for Leicester City in my mind and doubt creeping in, I made the bold decision to become blindly loyal to Leicester City as a New Years resolution, and refuse to play on the negatives of performances. Given the immense doom and gloom that i've discovered here on my return - yes, even worse than usual - I'm even more determined to lift the mood. So come on guys! Let's play on the positives: - We're unbeaten in 2012 so far! - We're seeing different players being given a chance (Moore and Kennedy for example) - We beat a pretty tough Palace outfit and held firm in defence despite prolonged pressure. - The transfer window will give us a chance to shift some deadwood - There are still plenty of points up for grabs. - Kasper Schmeichal is a brilliant keeper! - Nugent is already on 8 for the season - at this rate he could be the "20 a year" man everybody was so obsessed with back in August. - Gallagher is scoring regularly and his set piece deliveries are great at the minute - Bamba finally scored again! So call me insane, but I think there's still plenty to cheer about.
burni Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 A new year and another new start lets hope. Agreed 8 goals for nug when were only mid table plus he had an injury, a better half of the second season and he will be our 20 goal man! Were starting to get a proper team together now who really give a dam and who have a point to prove like shlupp moore and ken. Also good to see danns finally have a full game in his position, what happens? 1 goal 1 assist and still gets moaned at by some but im very pleased and dont care about people who moan for moans sake instead of being constructive. Leicester till i die, i know i am im sure i am im leicester till i die!

OriginalRobboFOX Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 - Gallagher is scoring regularly No he isn't.
Jimmy Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 No he isn't. Only Nugent has scored more then him this season with 8 goals (all in the league) to Gally's 7 (5 in league 2 in cup)
broughtonblue Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 Blind optimism! Great thread title! Only a blind fan could be optimistic after witnessing our last two home performances
Captain... Posted 6 January 2012 Posted 6 January 2012 Blind optimism! Great thread title! Only a blind fan could be optimistic after witnessing our last two home performances Booo! This is the optimism thread, we have the strongest collection of individual talent in the championship, and the resources to strengthen, NP is already getting rid of the deadwood and negative influences, Fernandes, Johnson, Ball, SSL and more will leave this month, and we will bring in the players we need. All we need now is a more positive attitude on the pitch and in the stands and we will romp this league...

All we need now is a more positive attitude on the pitch and in the stands and we will romp this league... I've just been listening to a fascinating interview with Sir Clive Woodward on Keys and Gray this morning. When asked what his secret was to winning the Rugby World Cup, Woodward stated that the aim of his and the coaching team was to train INDIVIDUAL players up to be the best in the world in their position. Therefore, someone like Dean Richards would compare his attributes to those of another great player in his same position and then work on the things that the other player was better than Richards at. In this way, Sir Clive explained that his focus was on getting a 'team of great individuals'. Seeing as you are saying 'we have the strongest collection of individual talent in the Championship'.. Do you really believe this to be true? Do you consider Lloyd Dyer, for example, to be better than say Peter Whittingham? Or Wellens superior to Kevin Nolan? Beckford better than Lambert etc?..... It's just another way of looking at how the squad has or hasn't progressed and an interesting take on player management (albeit at a different level in this instance)... In relation to 'room for optimism'.. Perhaps to answer this is to consider where our players would come in a Championship 11? Based on current form. I'm not sure I fully agree with Woodward to be fair. Yes he won a world cup, but I don't think a 'team of great individuals' always betters 'a great team'? Anyway, just a thought...

I am not saying we have the best player in each position, but as a collection of individuals playing to how they can, then there aren't many better, we are just underperforming, this is the optimism thread, I am being optimistic, but I do believe we are just a couple of signings and an improved attitude away from being a very good team, we are playing well beneath ourselves at the moment, and are still picking up points. There is reason for optimism, now enjoy yourself until the end of Feb and then the knives can come back out.

I was merely suggesting something to consider rather than trawling out the 'we are playing well beneath ourself ' stuff.. Cos that's too simple. Who says? And why? A couple of signings IMO won't be enough. We need three or four, then I'll be more optimistic.
bluesbrothers Posted 8 January 2012 Author Posted 8 January 2012 Right, yesterdays game in an optimistic outlook: . We kept a clean sheet! . Tunchev bossed the game and is looking like getting back to his best. . Schmeichel pulled off some great saves again. . Nice to see Pearson give Taft a place on the bench - travelling with the team for a big 3rd round tie will be good for the lad even if he didn't get on the pitch . With the fixtures drying up a bit, now we have the lure of a return fixture to keep us busy and perhaps keep the fringes happy. . And given the lack of unsettled results, perhaps we'll be on the telly again.
Raj Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Take the amount of money invested in our club by our owners in proportion to our current league standing and quality of players i'd go as far to say we have taken a big step backwards. Before you all slate me, READ what i have stated band tell me if im wrong!
bluesbrothers Posted 9 January 2012 Author Posted 9 January 2012 No, you're perfectly entitled to say it, and it's true. But thats the tune of 90% of FT and because i was getting bored of hearing it, I made this thread.
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 9 January 2012 Posted 9 January 2012 Optimism, yeah, its 2012 lets go for it, couple of signings in january and we could be flying
bluesbrothers Posted 17 January 2012 Author Posted 17 January 2012 Right, quite late, but here's my optimist's take on the Barnsley game: . The pie I had at half time was the best i've ever had at the ground. Not michelin star quality, but a decent bite to eat. . Dyer actually produced a good finish for once That's about all I've got. Even a blind man could tell that was a shocking performance. But hey! If we put forest to the sword tonight, it will be a welcome distraction.
ozleicester Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Positive from Barnsley - the Stream was very clear - i didnt listen to Stringer and Young - its over Cmoonnnnnnnnn yoooooooooooooooooo Blooooooooooooooooooooooooossssssssssssss
Burbage Fox Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Positves from Barnsley My Daughter aged 7 acquired her first city shirt!! which she wore proudly although I now feel guilty as I have inflicted a life time of suffering on her following the foxes... does that make me a bad Dad?

bluesbrothers Posted 18 January 2012 Author Posted 18 January 2012 As for the forest match. Well, seeing this more times in 90 minutes than we had all season. Nuff said. And - shock horror! - Wellens put in a great performance!
