Churchill Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 As we all know West Ham are trying to sign any player going at the moment but i think that could be there downfall. They are after Vaz Te and Maynard they already have Cole,Carew and so on bare in mind they can only field 11 men so let them sign who they like because im sure Maynard wont want to be sitting on the bench neither will Vaz Te, so they will be paying high wages for players who half the time will be sitting around not playing. I like the way Pearson is going around this transfer window unlike Sven, Pearson is going for good players who fit into our squad not just big names who have been offerd to us. I agree Sven bought in some good players but at the same time bought some players who we didnt need and just added more to the wage bill, so i don't think we need to worry about what West Ham are doing because in the long run they will have an unhappy side and unhappy players.

Churchill Posted 31 January 2012 Author Posted 31 January 2012 If it was us you'd be jizzing your pants !! I don't think i would be tbh! The way i look at it is we need players for certain positions and who will fit in the squad which Pearson is trying to do. West ham are just taking the p**s really they already have a good squad thats why they are top of the league, there just buying for fun which for some fans might be exciting but you got to bare in mind the wages need to be paid and its wasted money if you dont need the player.
cc_star Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 I wouldn't worry either, we're well behind and hardly in competition with them, it would do us a favour if West Ham were to beat the Middlesbrough's & Reading's of this world As far as they're concerned... it's amazing short-termism, none of the players are good enough for the Prem which will mean 8/9 or so new signings again in the summer & the settling-in period could mean they're prime candidates for relegation.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Yes we would be Jizzing in our various undergarments so i don't really think we can comment. Whats annoying is for one season only they are becoming the Man city of the Championship. Finding out who all the other teams want dangle more money at them and off they pop. No research has been done it's just like they are looking over the shoulders of everyone in a test Bloody invalids

I agree some of our fans would love it if we did what they are doing but they don't see the whole picture, buying loads of players causes unrest in the team and bad morale. Like you said most of them players won't cut it in the Prem so they will either flop and get relegated or they will be selling again in the summer.
Big Ol' Bob Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 They're not paying over the odds. Piquionne and Carew are frozen out there, they are looking at offloading Piquionne to Birmingham today, and will let Carew run down his contract. Vaz Te and Maynard will join Baldock and Carlton Cole as their four main forwards. They are going up either way, unfortunate we couldn't get in for either, but I suppose there position in the league is a little more attractive.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Breaking News !!! Revolving door fitted on West Hams' Medical Room !!
Christoph Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 They still have to play some teams around the play offs, and it's unlikely we're going to be taking over them, so a stronger team more likely to beat the teams around us can only benefit us really
Jace Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 It doesn't matter how many strikers they buy they will never get past our 8 defenders
jonlcfc1990 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 It doesn't matter how many strikers they buy they will never get past our 8 defenders EXACTLY! +1
burni Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 agreed, we tried that method and it didnt seem to really work and we had to get rid of lots of players. I feel like we have a team now making identifying the right more player much more likely. Sven didnt know what his team was making any player a gamble to whether they would be any good for us. Also the important factor of wages and fees, if we can get the players without spending the cash its always good. Spending lots of money just adds pressure and any kind of failure the manager gets the chop, unless instant success is delivered. Westham do appear to be trying to buy the league even though they already have a very good squad, whats funny is though southampton and westham dont seem to get any of the money related titles thrown their way like we did with sven. Eitherway, i like the direction we hare heading in....
Fox92 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 I heared Cole was linked with a move away, never the less, Morrison is having a medical along with Vaz Te and they have bidded for Maynard. Remember, they signed Boldock in the summer for £3million. And they also bidded for Jelavic although he is having a medical at Everton. Lets face it, Sam Allardyce wants everyone.

So, you consider West Ham are merely buying for fun. I don't think so. They are an ambitious and viable business, and building a squad which will not only gain promotion, but be capable of holding their own in the Premiership.

Guest Col city fan Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 They are simply going all out for promotion... money no object..... Fair play to them I guess, cos they can sort out their squad when they go up.. Big gamble though..if they dont go up they are surely fooked! Maynard is apparently at Upton Park as we speak!
cc_star Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Maynard has completed his medical, off back to the ground to put pen to paper on 3 & a half year deal SSN
Guest Col city fan Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Its easy to fook both Sharp and Maynard off as players who didn't want to join the club. The reality is, despite money, we have missed out on signing two of the top strikers in the division, most probably due to our league position and the terrible season we have had so far, last two weeks excepted. I'd have loved either Sharp or Maynard at City...two players who have scored exceptional goals against us this season. Thats the reality
MikeyT Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 They've apparently had a bid of 6Million for Jordan Rhodes rejected too.

Thats the reality I think Sharp's decision to join Southampton was more allied to the fact that Nigel Adkins is there and they were together in their roles at Scunnythorpe of course. Obviously our league position was none too enticing at the time for Sharp's liking either when Pearson went for him. Maybe that is why Nicky Maynard looked the other way when we came "a calling" too. That said, league positions were meaningless in August when Sven tried to buy him from Brizzle City so I think he just didn't fancy it.
MrSpaM Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Are West Ham just trying to finish their Panini album or something? Sam cant get the stickers he wants, so he's just buying players to take their picture and stick it in his album!
