Guy Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 he rejected them pre season though, seems there league postition could be a big factor, reprts today hes on 18k week there so dont sseem like its money as didnt we offer more than that he rejected them pre season though, seems there league postition could be a big factor, reprts today hes on 18k week there so dont sseem like its money as didnt we offer more than that Hmm, interesting. I was unaware that BS had turned them down during pre season. He probably saw it as a sideways move at the time though, thinking Doncaster would be doing about the same as Saints come February. Like you say, it appears to be the case that league form was instrumental in making up BS's mind at this juncture, as well as the Nigel Adkins connection of old - as I think we did offer him more dough and and Donny £2 million (or so it was rumoured), just into the New Year........
Corky Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 They are simply going all out for promotion... money no object..... Fair play to them I guess, cos they can sort out their squad when they go up.. Big gamble though..if they dont go up they are surely fooked! Maynard is apparently at Upton Park as we speak! I've no problem with their business, but will they get the same digs that we got for throwing money about? Doubt it.

Heard an interview last night with Billy Sharpe on Talk Sport. All the speculation about him wanting to stay at Donny and in the Yorkshire Area was utter bollox. Why he chose the Saints was for two reasons. Firstly, he's worked in the past with Adkins and played well for him...prrsumably at Scunny? Secondly, because of where Southampton are in the league. He called Southampton a 'big club' and obviously thinks he has more chance of Prem football with them than with Leicester. Make no bones about it... the season we have had so far appears to have had some impact on player's decisions to consider City.... However, I like the signings we have made and trust that Nige will turn it round...

Yes, more or less what I was saying re B.Sharp then and players like Maynard appear to have been "current form fiends" too as regards the league table! I perhaps thought having turned us down that BS was all set to stay on at Donny Rovers until the end of the season and help them try and stay in the Championship. For them and Cov. now though (plus Forest too perhaps, he he!), that's looking a forlorn task and it seems as if BS has come to realise this and so has decided to up sticks while the going is good. This would probably be also to avoid suffering the inevitable negative feeling that is enduced by being part of a relegated team. I'd be amazed if they stayed up now.
jimmer Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 It doesn't matter how many strikers they buy they will never get past our 8 defenders
Tielemans63 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 They've got an amazing squad - I can't see them having too many problems beating sides like Ipswich......
woznotwos Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 They've got an amazing squad - I can't see them having too many problems beating sides like Ipswich...... :P brilliant !
z-layrex Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Jesus ****ing christ reading their forums they're just as reactionary as us! Seems their fans won't accept a single loss now.
HankMarvin Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 2224: DONE DEAL Sam Allardyce has been reunited with Ricardo Vaz Te after the Barnsley striker completed his move to Championship rivalsWest Ham. Big Sam, who brought the Portuguese player to England during his spell in charge at Bolton, has paid an undisclosed fee for the 25-year-old. Another striker
sdb Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Maynard going, for £1.6. We gotta get involved. pronto!
HEGGSY Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Maynard going, for £1.6. We gotta get involved. pronto! I suppose he's worth a punt for £1.60
Guest parky0607 Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Even with their dream team they still get beat 5-1 by Ipswich
Fox 4 Life Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Their defence is plain awful, all well and good having 5-6 great strikers but they will struggle to maintain top spot without sorting that mess at the back out!
Happy Fox Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Greedy bas**rds, they couldn't let us have Vaz Te at the very least.
Guy Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 The Champioship is the strangest league in the world - which truly backs up Greavesie's old saying "it's a funny old game"! West Ham lose 5-1 to strugglers Ipswich....no wonder they're buying anything that moves, or trying to!
lemtom Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 I dont think there defence is awful before the ipswich game they had the best defensive record in the league had only conceded 24 in 27.. the 5-1 is just one of them random results that i wouldnt concentrate on too much
Jace Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 Sharp and Maynard choosing other clubs instead of us doesn't bother me if they don't want to play here Nugent and Beckford will be good enough to win the Championship with the right midfield anyway. Just laughing at Bristol for not accepting £6 million for Maynard earlier in the season and Billy Sharp good luck at Southampton your DVD of the Southampton Leicester match will be in the post later today
