Drinkwater & Gallagher out for several weeks

Both are losses, Drinkwater has settled in nicely and for all Gallagher's faults he does, on form, offer something important.

Awww please don't start with that defeatist attitude Dave !!!

Wer'e all ears on here ! Where on earth would we be wthout you to put us all straight .......not forgetting NP as well ??

I know, I know.......

It is not really defeatist, though I accept that our chances of a play off spot have now all but vanished.

It is just that with our current squad I really can't see a way forward so I find it really hard to make any suggestions or predictions, which is, mostly, what I do.

The craic about losing half a dozen midfielders was not, in any way a dig at NFP, just the circumstances that leave us without viable options.

Since I can no longer tell NFP how it should be done I find myself somewhat at a loss for words...... :dunno:

I am seriously thinking of picking a fight with ColCity over the relative merits of the 2009/10 squad compared to what we have had available this season, just to refute his assertion that (this season) our players are just not good enough.

Finding it hard to work up the enthusiasm.........

What on earth would be the point of even considering sacking Pearson yet?

He's had three months...

He's inherited an expensive squad of players who have been nowhere near as good as we all thought they would be...

He's signed some good players... Drinkwater, Morgan look to be the type of player who will make the team more solid.

He's only had a Jan transfer window.. Which is notoriously difficult to negotiate.

He's not filled the squad with tons of loanees.. Instead he seems to want to build a squad.

We've had/have some difficult injuries.

Give him the summer, a proper transfer window and then ten games and we'll see where we are.

Ie exactly what Sven got...

There is no point doing anything other for the meantime.

King is injured for the whole season, Fat Johnno isn't going to get fit anytime soon, so we have to dip into the loan market, as we will struggle to cope with teams with Danns and Wellens in the side.

Like we did at Southampton away?

One game only where they have performed, Drinkwater helped he broke up the opposition sadly I think teams will now overrun us even more now in the centre of the park. That is why I think it is imperative we get a strong defensive midfielder in the side next season alongside Drinkwater.

Oi! You and me will fall out mate!

lol lol

Sorry Col .......you know i always value your input !

My comment was aimed at foxhat's automatic defence of our Ritchie, we have a 'thing' going on about this, no longer serious though...

I'll always defend Wellens yes.......the abuse he gets on here is tantamount to slander tbh !

I'v always accepted his limitations (as he himself would no doubt),and i'd agree his influence on games this season have been somewhat diminished but,he'll always give 100% ,plays with his heart on his sleeve and can win any match at any given moment with just one pass !

Unfortunately, i'v not seen that from some of the other cm's mentioned on here too often tbh !

That's why i think that the injury to Danny is a double-edged sword as ,not only will we miss what we have already witnessed (especially last Sat ),in his own ability ,but the potential of the partnership with Wellens was so encouraging too !

Is Babylon the only person on here who speaks sense? ;)

Possibly the most sensible poster on here to be fair...

However, give him any praise and his head may explode

The 'current squad' is the injury ravaged bunch we have available for the next few games, as opposed to the players that we have had available to us at various times this season, and failed miserably to make the best of....... :(

Cannot think of too many names, that would that strong defensive midfielder description, any suggestions?

funny you should ask that cos every time I'm mentioned a 'name' I get slated...

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas..One of my workmates is an Arsenal fan and has close links with the club and he's watched Jay's career very closely.

He's a good lad... keen and eager to learn and improve.

He's big, strong, great in the air and has a good finish.

By no means the finished article but he's only 21 still I think.

Just the sort of up and coming player I'd aim to go for.

Anyway, watch this space...I called for Billy Sharp months before we were linked with him and I think I may be right about Jay too..

On that note I've also said for months I'd look at Ched Evans....

Or I could be completely wrong? I often am

Anyway, watch this space.

I like the look of JET as you say not the finished article but the boy certainly has talent and could be groomed in that defensive midfield role. If not JET than Shaun Derry is the man we should get.

That explains when someone suggests trying someone else why you shoot them down if flames then! Wellens has had his best days I'm afraid!

You didn't see the Forest replay either then?

Actually thinking about it Shaun Derry of QPR could be the answer him alongside Drinkwatwer next season would be a fantastic partnership.

Richie Wellens ....age 31 .........Scrapheap ......legs have gone.........fat and unfit ........

Shaun Derry .....aged 34 !! :trumpet:
