Drinkwater & Gallagher out for several weeks

Leicester City have been rocked by a double blow.

Danny Drinkwater and Paul Gallagher will be missing for several weeks after picking up injuries in Tuesday's disappointing defeat at Watford.

Drinkwater, who is cup-tied for tomorrow's FA Cup fifth-round clash at Norwich, has a foot problem.

X-rays have shown that the 21-year-old has broken no bones but he is still unable to walk.

Gallagher picked up a hamstring injury and will be missing for at least a couple of weeks.

City boss Nigel Pearson also revealed that goalkeeper Chris Weale will have to undergo surgery on a knee injury picked up while on loan at Northampton Town.

"Danny has had X-rays and they have come up clear, but he is still not able to put his foot to the floor," said Pearson.

"Obviously that is concerning and he will be out for a while but we don't know at the moment.

"Paul has a hamstring injury and again he will probably be out for a couple of weeks as well.

"It happened on Tuesday night and he was able to finish the game, but again it is disappointing to pick up injuries in what was a disappointing game for us.

"It looks like Chris is going to need an operation so that is a set-back for him."

However, there was some positive news as on-loan striker Nathan Delfouneso has been given permission by Aston Villa to face the Canaries.

Delfouneso was not allowed to face Swindon Town in the last round as Villa did not want him cup-tied.

Pearson also revealed Darius Vassell was ahead of schedule in his bid to return from a serious knee injury. Vassell joined in parts of an open training session at the King Power Stadium yesterday.

"Darius is ahead of schedule, which is good," said Pearson. "Whenever you have an open training session like we did and there are quite a few of the public there, I think people assume that players are either out altogether or ready to play.

"Clearly, he has a serious injury which he is making very good progress from. It is good to see him back, inter-acting with the players, but he still has a long way to go.

"But if we can get him back involved before the end of the season that would be a real plus for us."

Vassell is out of contract in the summer, but Pearson said it was too early to discuss his future.

"It is one step at a time," said Pearson. "The most important thing for him is that he is on track to be available. We will see how things go for him.

"I am just pleased to see him out there and I think it is a bonus for him to be able to join in even at some level with the players."

Oh well no one rates Gally on here  Looks like the Wellens thread will be getting more pages as we go back to Scapegoat A

Will be a good chance for NP to see what strength in depth we have possibility for Marshall and Kennedy to step up and be counted injuries are not always a bad thing

Looks like a start for Marshall then.

Plenty of people will be jumping for joy at the news of Gally, and may well be nursing a semi upon reading that lol

now we got paintsil back worth putting peltier on the wing?

seeing he's not the best at defending.. but alright at attacking?

Pantsil & Bamba are not back yet.

I don't think Peltier is a winger, he isn't the greatest going forward.

I can see Moussa getting another chance.

Thought they might have been, Yaya played for Man City last night.

I don't think NFP is that pleased

nursing a semi? don't be silly.

i'm nursing a full blown erection.

and gally, wellens & howard can blow it!

we have big cup game coming i think that these players on good wages have got to get together and start playing as a team and no playing when it suites and if they all play well as team i do not mind who plays

Why would we play Peltier right wing surely this is a perfect opportunity to see what Marshall can do there if Gally is injured?

Can hardly blame him when the manager goes and signs Wes Morgan, don't be fooled by Pearson he knows what he's doing and wants him out.

Christ you do utter some rubbish.

Everyone's happy then, lets see Marshall play 6-7 games on the bounce see what he can do. Shame about Drinkwater but I would only be pissed off if we were up there and challenging!

Now is a great oppertunity to use the remaining games to build for next season see what works and what doesn't

Nothing works with Wellens, but were stuck with him now since Pearsons sold all our other CMs.

Sold? :/

Fernandes didn't want to be here after Sven left.

Abe wanted to go back to Japan.

I don't rate Gallagher but it isn't nice to see players injured (especially our own!). However, this opens the gate for other players to impress.

Glad Darius is back in the mix though. Sounds like he is on track and good too, I'd like to see him back.

It's good job he is ahead of schedule, especially if he sees he foreseeable future here. He needs to be playing to persuade the club to offer him a new deal.
