Ric Flair Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Grands Crus for the gold cup! Midnight Chase, Grands Crus and possibly Quel Esprit for me if Kauto doesn't run. If Kauto does then i'm not sure what to do. I love Midnight Chase, it fookin loves Cheltenham as well. It's profile is very much Imperial Commander-esque as well.
Ric Flair Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Giving it a miss this year...........still ain't recovered fully from last year! Tetlami to win The Supreme Novice Hurdle anyway I quite fancy Darlan as well, torn between the two.
Guest MattP Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I'm in London so can't get on Racing Post site but I'm presuming Grand Crus is going for the RSA now he's 6-4 for it ?
Guest MattP Posted 9 March 2012 Posted 9 March 2012 Spoke to a couple of journos at Leicester today, Grands Crus will go for the RSA rather than the Gold Cup. Kauto star has a decent work out at Wincanton tonight and is 90% certain to run.
Bert Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Can anyone see the finalised cards anywhere? Can't stand looking at them when each race has 40 runners in etc.
Guest MattP Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 Can anyone see the finalised cards anywhere? Can't stand looking at them when each race has 40 runners in etc. Got until 12 hours before the race for final declarations now! Just buy a racing post the day before each meeting . They get it spot on.

welck12 Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 I know nothing about the horses and dont usually bet on them but my dad's mate seems to think Simenon in the supreme Novice hurdle at 25/1 is good each way bet, what you guys reckon?

As far as the supreme goes, you tend to get some high prices placings.

I shall be on Molotov and Tetlami by the looks of things so far. Darlan is too short for me given the history of outsiders doing well in this. I have heard Vulcanite is primed to go well in this so perhaps i'll steer towards the value there and not Tetlami, the first few days at Chelts I like to keep quite tame and then go berserk on Thursday and Friday.
Guest MattP Posted 12 March 2012 Posted 12 March 2012 Oh really. I like the Suns racing pull out so I'll just get that. I don't know how anyone can pick a horse for any race without the Racing Post, most in depth form guide you can get. Done quite a few ante post today. Big double on Sprinter Sacre and Big Bucks, I've layed Sizing Europe for the QM, singles on Simonsig, Peddlers and Zarkander. Huge bet on Grands Crus for the RSA. Just rewatched his run at Chelt from the countryside festival, didn't even jump well and still saw off Champion Court (who beat half this field next time out) and Cue Card comfortably. Watching his jumping it's the right choice not to go for the Gold Cup, Kauto and Long Run would canter all over him at the minute.

I guess I'm not that big of a betting man to bother about form etc. don't go over the top on bets, I just like the occasion and a few bets for fun. Still I'm hugely looking forward to it all and what will be my first festival appearance tomorrow!
Ric Flair Posted 12 March 2012 Posted 12 March 2012 Had £25 each way on Luke Donald at 28/1 come in and also £5 e/w on Henrik Stenson at 25s and £5 e/w on Schwartzel at 22/1 so i'm wedged up for Cheltenham now. Hurricane Fly and Quevaga double I reckon, might ton up on it. Paddy Power are offering money back if Sprinter Sacre wins, so i'm all over Al Ferof as it's a class horse and surely it's between those two anyway. BUZZIN'

Sprinter Sacre is an absolute beast but if anyone will push it, it'll be Al Ferof, with the money back offer its too tempting not to stick a decent amount on it.
Simo86 Posted 12 March 2012 Posted 12 March 2012 As I'm off to Mexico tomorrow I've had to put my bets on earlier than I'd like to! I've had a four fold of Sprinter Sacre, Big Bucks, Quevega and Hurricane Fly at 8/1. Al Ferof at 9/4 in the Arkle. Grands Crus at 2/1 in the RSA. Kauto Star at 4/1 in the Gold Cup. Plus a couple with longer odds, Carlito Brigante at 16/1 in the Coral Cup and Call The Police at 10/1 in the Jewson. I won't know how I've done for the next 2 weeks but fingers crossed I'll come back to a healthy looking Paddy Power balance!!!
welck12 Posted 12 March 2012 Posted 12 March 2012 I threw a £10 e/w on Simneon, not expecting much but we'll see

Make sure at some point you walk up to the rail and see the hill on the finishing straight, it's absolutely staggering.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 12 March 2012 Posted 12 March 2012 I've gotta behave this year and not spend much so I've only done a couple of small bets I've got a 10p lucky 63 on quantative easing, binocular, sizing Australia, sizing Europe, big bucks and burton port. And a silly 10p e/w lucky 63 on Alfie Sheerin, celestial halo, kauto stone, albertas run, Oscar whiskey and offshore account. Not expecting to win anything especially with the second one but it keeps me interested.
Guest MattP Posted 12 March 2012 Posted 12 March 2012 This is a must for anyone betting on the Arkle, Paddy Power refunding everyone if Sprinter Sacre wins.

This has come direct from the Mullins and Elliot yard so it's well worth a punt!
Simo86 Posted 12 March 2012 Posted 12 March 2012 Good lad, was this on my advice from a few weeks back? This has come direct from the Mullins and Elliot yard so it's well worth a punt! I was already swaying towards Call The Police and after I saw you say something it persuaded me to go for it. I had a look into Carlito Brigante after you said something and thought he was worth a punt, so in a round about way both were from your advice

Let's hope we get the dough, would be sensational if both won but both to place is expected in my eyes.
Bert Posted 12 March 2012 Posted 12 March 2012 Paddy power offering a matched bet of up to £20 for the Wednesday if you place a bet with them on the supreme novice. New and existing customers.
