General Smuts Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 If Kazilian places in this next race I may cry.
Ric Flair Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Got 33s on Son of Flicka but it's in an each way yankee with Jacks Solitairre, Village Vic and Gauvain, so I need at least one more to come in for a good return!
StanSP Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 If Kazilian places in this next race I may cry. Not sure if all bookies had e/w placings as 1-4, but Kazlian came in 4th after starting off well apparently. Sky Bet and PaddyPower had E/W places 1-4...
Bert Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Kazilan went too quick too early and faded. 40/1 winner came from nowhere.
General Smuts Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Feck it: Teaforthree (Win) Monksland (Place) Grands Crus Finian's Rainbow (Win) Get Me Out Of H' (Place) Kazlian (Place)
General Smuts Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Still showing as unsettled as well the bastard.
goose2010 Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Anyone on the 5:15 gone for Moscow mannon around 7/1
General Smuts Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Anyone know how much I would have stood to win had I stuck with my choice of Call The Police instead of Grand Crus?
Bert Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Anyone know how much I would have stood to win had I stuck with my choice of Call The Police instead of Grand Crus? Don't know how it works but there would have been a decent return!
StanSP Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 EDIT: Still more to come if Kazlian and Moscow Mannon come in E/W, Had those as part of an E/W accy with Finians and Get Me Out of Here. :chant: :chant: :scarf: :yahoo: Delighted that Kazlian and Moscow Mannan came in 4th! £4 accy returned me £103.50! So happy right now!
Matt Posted 14 March 2012 Author Posted 14 March 2012 Well in the 2 days so far I've made about £10 profit as I said yesterday i'm normally down, badly in the 1st 2 days so to be in profit, albeit small is refreshing, hoping I follow my normal trend of starting my festival and winning bigger amounts in the final 2 days though. Gutted and learnt a lesson I've failed to learn in the past though, always go with your instinct and don't believe the hype, was looking at Bobs Worth all last night and all morning but got led into the hype and followed the favourite Grand Crus. Who won? Bobs Worth. To follow that I was going to bet on Finians Rainbow but decided to go against simply because I didn't think Henderson/Gerraghty would get the hat-trick - They only bloody did! So mixed feelings today, in profit but could have been in quite abit of more if only I'd gone with instinct, didn't believe the hype and didn't follow the crowd.
adam1 Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Anyone know how much I would have stood to win had I stuck with my choice of Call The Police instead of Grand Crus? Don't know how it works but there would have been a decent return! As I am in the same 'Grand Crus' boat as you..... I took out Bobs Worth from my perm to save £9.60. Fatal mistake as I would have had 16 lines at 20p come in. To the £1 stake you would have got back £73.40 (including stake). Its quite low today I would have expected about £100 at least. I would have got £234.88 for a £19.20 bet. I love placepots. Best bet going. Although I broke the cardinal rule of having a 'banker' on a short price fave (the idea of placepots is to try and avoid faves where they can be beaten so if they are - the dividend increases dramatically).
General Smuts Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 That's a bloody night out that! That's it i'm for a tearjerk.
Ric Flair Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 £50 each way placed on Albertas Run at just shy of 10/1 on the exchange. I already have 2 other ante post bet's on this beauty at 14/1 and 11/1. As per usual, I let this machine of a horse decide my fate for me. It's the least I owe him is that amount this year, i'm over £2500 in profit on this beast and more is likely to be pumped on on the morrow. Early thoughts are that Michael Flips and Sona Sasta will go close tomorrow at 25/1 and 20/1 respectively. Can Oscar Whiskey touch Big Bucks? A lot of the sure things have been picked apart this week, i'll see how i'm positioned after The Run tomorrow. I shall have an each way double of Buena Vista and Albertas Run as well as both are going for their hat-trick and you never know, sport works like that sometimes and I want a slice of it.
Simmo86 Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Won 22.50 on a Lucky 15. Had Teaforthree, Finians, Kazlian and Moscow Mannon Gives me a bit of money to play with tomorrow
Matt Posted 14 March 2012 Author Posted 14 March 2012 2.40 tomorrow is the race of the festival for me. So much class in it, past and present. Can't choose, I want to be nostalgic and go with Albertas Run and Forpadydeplaster as they have done me well in the past, they have saved the festival for me year upon year, won me a fair bit of money, can't see them doing it again though unfortunatly (Although I thought that last year and what do you know? They did it for me!). Might have to go with a couple of small e/w's on them.
The People's Hero Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 After the first day being £130 up, I took it a bit easy day and kept the stakes small. The success stories were call the police e/w, silverhand e/w and Khun John (not Cheltenham but tipped up so I had it) Ric Flair's enthusiasm has persuaded me to go stick the odd £12 in my betting account on Alberta's run. I like the favourite in that race, but sod it. In the Gold Cup I've gone for Burton Port, Quel Esprit and What a Friend all each way. I hate betting against Kauto - but reckon if I stick it in I've backed about half the horses! Tomorrow I've got Tartak ew in the 4 o clock race, small bet, merely to retain interest. Paddy power are paying out on 5 places. I'm not far off £200 up now, not bad for starting out with a £20 budget. Hope you are all enjoying the festival and making a few £. Remember - only bet what you can afford to lose and don't start chasing lost money. And FFS COME ON ALBERTA'S RUN. Regardless of the competition, 9/1 really is a good price for the horse that has won this race for the past 2 years. Script is written (which means at this year's Cheltenham, its about to be torn up!) Was anyone on here on that 40/1 winner today?
The People's Hero Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Can Oscar Whiskey touch Big Bucks? A lot of the sure things have been picked apart this week, i'll see how i'm positioned after The Run tomorrow. Tip 1: Very difficult to call race. I think Big Bucks will win, but what do I know? Tip 2: Paddy Power are doing an offer tonight, refunding losing SINGLE bets TO WIN on any horse if BIG BUCKS wins. Can't remember wording, so not sure if your horse would need to finish second. This does make Oscar Whiskey look a slightly better bet, but I personally don't fancy it. If I was to tempted on that race, it would be the place market.
The People's Hero Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Call The Police and Carlito Brigante, i've told you already. Shame CTP has gone in to the RSA instead of the Jewson but it'll still be in the mixer. Monksland, Sizing Europe, Kaizlan and Horatio Hornblower e/w yankee Lively Baron e/w in the opener. Guivain e/w Jacks Solitaire e/w Balthazar King and Kentford Grey Lady bailed me out of the shit yesterday, ended up about £90 up in the end. All gone on todays bets. Haha! Sounds like we've had quite similar bets on the whole. Balthazar King is a beauty.
Bert Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 Big bucks has to win for money back. Somersby and Forpadydeplasterer who have done well for me are running again. This day sticks out for me as the best card. Looking forward to watching it and hopefully have some wins!
The People's Hero Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 What do we all think of the Gold Cup? I really like Burton Port. Can Kauto do it though? I don't like Longshot.
Bert Posted 14 March 2012 Posted 14 March 2012 What do we all think of the Gold Cup? I really like Burton Port. Can Kauto do it though? I don't like Longshot. Won't have a proper look until tomorrow night. Think I'll be betting Kauto.
