You seem to think that USA is a democracy.

Shocking I know. lol

To be honest though, I don't even think I'm being particularly optimistic. Optimism would be saying that SOPA/PIPA or similar bills will never again be attempted. They will, and they'll no doubt be sneaky and underhand about it, but they stand very little chance of victory against an increasingly informed and collaborative public.

The NHS bill seems to be going ahead despite a very aware workforce being staunchly against it and having raised awareness in the public - yet a bullish Cameron is going ahead regardless.

It will end up that the public will be placed under even more surveillance and the very people its geared to stop will sidestep it as simply as breathing.

People still ignorantly believe "well if I'm doing nothing wrong I've got nothing to fear".

What's stopping them doing it anyway? They know your name, millions of people are too stupid to have their accounts on private, most employers could find you on facebook, no problems.

Think I'd prefer it if they didn't, like.

It amazes me how many people on fb openly moan about their job, count down the days to the weekend etc. My missus is a teacher and loads of her colleagues her constantly whingeing yet the headmistress is on there and 'friends' with them all.

If I was a boss (which i'm not :glare: ) and an employee of mine was forever bemoaning the fact they had to get off of their arse and drag themselves to a job they clearly didn't enjoy then I would have to call them in and question just how much they wanted to keep the job.

My work pisses me off from time to time but i'm not so idiotic to bitch about it on fb.

Couldn't care less really. As far as I'm aware my facebook hasn't changed since about 2008.

What's most worrying about this is that people are starting to see Facebook, and the internet in general, as a true reflection on real life.

The internet used to be about comedy trolling. Nobody took it seriously. Now people use the words "online" and "social" together in the same sentence without even appearing to recognise the massive oxymoron.

Being online is not being social. Mark Zuckerberg doesn't really think everybody sharing everything about their lives with anybody and everybody on the internet is actually a good, healthy idea, he just says that because it helps line his pockets.

If you've got any self respect and common sense you have a very minimal online 'profile', and you carry on about your life in the real world like people have done for thousands of years.
