WHY IS PEARSON STILL PICKING HIM

I am absolutely fed up with him getting a place in the team. He may make half decent runs when kasper picks the ball up but:

He has a horrendous work rate.

He has an awful first touch.

He has terrible distribution.

He doesn't even challenge for a header.

He can't finish.

I've seen him play fifteen times this season. EVERY time he's been crap.

Why not give Schlupp a go? He was terrific before he got injured and he works very hard.

I personally think now that the season is all but mathmatically over...lets give Hopper/Schlupp a chance? If Pearson is to build a "team" - it'd be healthy to give the fringe players a chance in real match situtations!

I think at the minute he doesn't have a lot of other options. When Waghorn gets fit I expect him to start; but it would seem that he might not even get fit this season. Schlupp and Hopper arn't ready yet. Howard is way past it.

I do wonder if after today maybe we might try 4-3-3 but that hasn't really worked all season.

Edit: I should clarify even though I think Schlupp isn't ready he does put in a lot more effort than Beckford, which would help the team out more. But lets be honest the only really good game he had this year was against Rotheram a league 2 team.

I'm pretty sure NP's patience with him must be wearing thin by now. I can see why he's being picked (pace, reputation, goals in the cup, potential, etc.), but I agree, his performances haven't been good. I won't be surprised to see him dropped or sold on in the summer.

Why not try something different completely? He would get alot of respect from the fans if he tried something like this.

Careful son... 'Beckford love' has become as endemic as 'Sven love'... It permeates the corridors of Foxes Talk yet can't be spoken of for fear of ridicule and criticism should you dare to question it.

You'll be hit with 'a lack of supply', 'not playing to his strengths' or 'he's putting in the effort' before you can say 'four in 27'...

I promise ya...

You're watching a different Beckford to me then however I do agree with you about his first touch an example of this was his goal at Old Trafford in the 1-0 FA Cup win for Leeds, the only reason he scored that goal because his first touch ran the ball away from Wes Brown, Beckford out paced Brown and shown him up for the actuall shocking defender he is and got to the ball to place it in before the keeper. Beckford is a confidence player and at the minute he hasn't got it. Today his work rate was shocking, I did shout abuse at Beckford which I don't normally believe in doing just not my style I prefer to praise players or try and give them the encouragement to chase back and work for the ball you seem to get better results that way. Well it certinally helped with the girls team I helped run last season...(Two different things thought I suppose)

He'd only get respect if it worked.

Its very risky and if we ended up getting hammered then everyone would have ago at him, asking why he'd picked such a young team and saying that putting them out there and getting slaughtered has done more harm than good. Plus he'd have a load of players pissed off that he'd left them out acting all smug and owners asking him what he was thinking.

I agree now is time to experiment and start building for next season but I don't think you can flood the first team with youngsters. But bringing it back on topic I would drop Beckford, this leagues to hard to carry luxury players who won't graft for the team.

Lumping the ball to Beckford isn't playing to his strengths he isn't a target man, it is criminal to do so , so we must play the ball on the floor.

There's no pace in the midfield so we can't play it on the floor. We get frustrated and try and hoof it up. Useless.

I don't give a flying f**k ,we aint playing to his strengths and you know what we never will when we have the likes of Wellens giving him scraps or any other player, yes his goal return is poor, but you know we wouldn't be having our day out to Chelsea if it weren't for his goals in the Cup, I bet you are immune to giving the love of your life Stevie Howard any criticism, he is a useless bag of shit.

Exactly.

Yeah, let's build a team around a bloke who's shown little aptitude for either goalscoring or teamwork!

I think being able to hold the ball up is a minimum requirement of any striker's play. We can't constantly play through-balls - sometimes it has to come into feet. He's not shown any knack for retaining possession even when he went through his "purple" patch of pissing on the worst Forest side in 40 years and Swindon.

Pearson will get rid in the summer.

we aint playing to his strengths

Why should we? He's part of a team.

Also, I lost count of the number of times today we lost possession trying overly ambitious through balls from midfield. We were trying to play to his strengths when possible, it's just an exceptionally low-percentage tactic. It looks great when it comes off though.

Stevie Howard? What the fook you on about?

Are you pissed?

That if we don't start Beckford we have to play that useless lump and trust me anything is better than alternative. Anyway whatever happens to Beckford it is quite clear NP will probably get rid in the summer I will despair cos I genuinely felt he could have come good. Lets hope Beckford scores the goal to knock Chelsea out and who knows he may lead us to Cup glory
