Getting Old

Recommended Posts

Getting really irritated at the sheer ignorance of today's youth. Why is it they seem to have loads of qualifications but no knowledge of absolutely anything? Ear hair, nasal hair, thinning hair, spreading waistline, wanting to stay in instead of going out, finding history interesting instead of boring

You get some good plays and comedy shows on Radio 4. A few of the TV ones started there. Although I hardly ever listen to itJust never think about it and I never have the whats on guide with me.

I once wrote to the Daily Mirror asking why they never put a Radio Guide in their weekend TV Mag. Got a reply to say there was not the demand for it. In other words it would take too much effort on their part. They said I should buy the Radio Times for the radio. I may have replied that if I bought that I would not need to buy the Daily Mirror. I think you get a listing in the 'quality' papers but don't like buying a weekly newspaper that'll take a fortnight to read.

You get a radio listing in the TV mag in the Daily Mail on Saturday. The tv mag is the best in all the weekend papers and the only reason I buy the paper. How old does that make me sound?

Not a lover of The Mail though. Keep forgetting about the radio anyway. Got a small one on my PC desk.

Sold a good radio cassetted on the market last year. Only got £10 but needed to raise cash Would have sold a load of DVD's if I'd been offered more than 10p each for them. I'll have a search later for radio listings.

I've noticed another worrying trend recently, to do with mother/daughter couples that you see in the street.

In my youth, I'd get an occasional coy glance from the daughter. These days I'm more likely to get a lingering. slightly desperate look from the mother. The sort of look that says "Please get me out of my loveless marriage and pound me to within an inch of my life".

Either that or it's "Take your eyes off my daughter you filthy, disgusting beast".

Disconcerting either way.

Know the feeling. Also worrying, if you are chatting to a mother and daughter, finding the mother more interesting and better company and having more things in common than the daughter.

Talking about the weather with mates on a Friday night in a bar full of young girls

Reading threads on message boards about cooking or foraging and finding them interesting. Being skeptical about events that happende 30 years ago and searching conspiracy sites.

This thread must make depressing reading for those people in their teens and 20s.

Unless they're out there thinking "Nah that'll never happen to me. I'm gonna be different"

Which is exactly what I was thinking 20 years ago :D

The meeting and talking to a mother ad daughter, am I the only one who thinks about the potential of a threesome rather than which one is age appropriate?

as per other thread - enjoying Eurovision is more than a sign, its an official "old certificate"

I'm officially getting old.

I'm off out tonight after an 8-5.30 shift at work and I'm definitely going to need a power nap before I go out.

Another sign of my impending decline into old age is my disgust with people born in the 90's being allowed in nightclubs. Shouldn't they be inside playing Pokemon?

What signs are you showing of prematurely ageing?

what is YOUR age exactly? I bet im older...and Im geting more trim now than i did when i was a teenager, fact. I need all the vitimin E I can lay my hands on, Its party, party, party for me.

Making a noise when you bend down to tie a Samba lace. "HOOOOAH"

I've stopped bending down and started standing on one leg, knee right up, tying the lace stood upright whilst hopping.

Bars > Clubs is a good one.

I actually enjoy a pint on my own reading a good paper now in the day, always preferred older music anyway.

Take more care over my food now and love cooking, never go to fast food restaurants.

Definately more Conservative the older in getting, amazing to think I started to lean towards the Labour Party in my teens, never again.
