The Doctor Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 YOU DONT KNOW WHAT SKET IS!? You really are old inside. tell me about it. Mentally I'm ****ing ancient.
StanSP Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 A sket is a term for hoe/whore. Fvck knows what 'drek' is. Never heard that in my life.
Gold Coast Fox Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 A sket is a term for hoe/whore. Fvck knows what 'drek' is. Never heard that in my life. Drek: Comes from the German word Dreck meaning rubbish or dirt. So it may be used in Yiddish too, but it comes via German, and if it has been extended to mean shit this is not the original German meaning. So it means your 'dirt' basically.
The Doctor Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 hmmm, whore and dirt seem fine still to me - why with the new words?
NeilyBoy Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Because that's what happens with language. Each generation modifies it from the one that went before.
Guest Bilo Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 There's also the phenomenon of cultural cringe coming into play. Hence middle class white boys thinking they're gangstas from South Central LA.
MC Prussian Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 There's also the phenomenon of cultural cringe coming into play. Hence middle class white boys thinking they're gangstas from South Central LA. I'd love to see a mandatory excursion to Compton for all wannabe-gangstas. I'm thinking gameshow. Battle Royale-style.

Please someone kill me now, I don't want to go on living. When I read Compton the first image that came into my head was this: I am a broken man teenage girl.
21st Century Fox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I'd love to see a mandatory excursion to Compton for all wannabe-gangstas. I'm thinking gameshow. Battle Royale-style. This! They'd be pooping their overly pulled up pants and low slung jeans.
OzFox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Gardening has become strangely interesting. I find myself having disturbing thoughts like "I wonder if I could grow herbs in that pot over there", or "maybe I could irrigate those vegetables" The realisation that just about every decent pop tune has been done before, and the one I'm hearing is a cover version. Even the ones I thought were original in 1982 were in fact written in 1962. And done a hell of a lot better the first time. Spending time with young attractive girls has become as boring as batshit because they sound so immature and usually I've no idea what they're talking about. The thought that the worst is yet to come. The stiff joints, health problems, constant moaning and smelling faintly of my own urine
Daggers Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I found it helpful when others told me I was getting old. Useful signs were things like people commenting on the stench of urine in whatever shop I was in, looking confused at me if I asked for a shilling-worth of licorice or they'd often mention my age as I inappropriately touched young ladies upon being introduced at the day centre.
Daggers Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Wearing string back gloves and a flat cap for driving suddenly becomes a good look.
Daggers Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 When your entire wardrobe is various shades of grey or brown and you believe that pink is a brilliant colour for ties and wallpaper.
Zingari Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Suddenly remembering other things that make you feel old a few minutes after posting in a thread about what makes you feel old .
Daggers Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I'd have done more but for some reason I put the milk in the cupboard and my phone in the fridge.
OzFox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I'd have done more but for some reason I put the milk in the cupboard and my phone in the fridge. I once threw a cup of tea in the bin, and a crumpled can of coke in thre sink. That was when I was about 20. It was only the clatter of the coke can that brought me to my senses.

MC Prussian Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Yes Raj , but she buys them to wear herself , not for you Unless... Raj is a cross-dresser. RAJ!!!
Daggers Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Every time I put my foot in the wrong trouser leg and collapse to the floor makes me a very cross dresser.
sphericalfox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 There's also the phenomenon of cultural cringe coming into play. Hence middle class white boys thinking they're gangstas from South Central LA. I'm afraid this particular phenomenon has been occurring since the early 90's (in the States at least), I can't vouch for the UK as i didn't live here, but I did recognise it immediately when I moved and it truly was like Ali G. A literal sketch show. If even half of these muppets actually lived/ visited a true 'hood' in the US, they'd pap a brick so hard and quick that their sphincter would be sure to follow it. I can state that I wore baggies, and still occasionally do. But I'm a big tall lad, and the idea of stuffing my genitalia into paint-on skinny jeans, that are so painful, and look as though I am smuggling a sweaty farmer's loaf, doesn't really cut it for me. It helps that as soon as I get home from work I put on my trackie bottom, which my daughter calls my pajamas. It may as well be. I have no shame, nor guests to see my oldness.

MikeyT Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 Working as a teacher and being unable to understand some of the insults thrown around by the kids. Sket I just about understand, but what the bloody hell is a drek? Oh, and getting a mortgage and paying council tax. I don't know where the term "sick" has come from, but in my day, it meant you were ill, or something was gross.
jonthefox Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I know its an old one now, but ive never understood something being dope.
