General Smuts Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I'm officially getting old. I'm off out tonight after an 8-5.30 shift at work and I'm definitely going to need a power nap before I go out. Another sign of my impending decline into old age is my disgust with people born in the 90's being allowed in nightclubs. Shouldn't they be inside playing Pokemon? What signs are you showing of prematurely ageing?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 At least you're still going out on a Friday. When you're in your in your early to mid 30s (for me even these are sadly behind me) there comes a time when you cannot stuff your face with the gusto you once did, as if you eat too quickly you get this weird and frankly terrifying sensation that something in your chest is blocked and you have no idea what comes next, possibly death. It always passes (well it has done so far anyway). This has happened to a number of my contemporaries, and sadly now even the slightly younger lads are reporting the same symptoms. This is most likely to happen when eating a massive Chinese takeaway, or at pretty much any kind of all you can eat buffet
Jon the Hat Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I turned from a mostly liberal view point (and vote in 1997) into a Tory. There may also be a direct causal link to the amount of Tax I pay and my general ire at seeing it wasted.
steveherbe Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Signs of getting old? When someone posts up about City v Spurs in 1963, and you can remember more about that game than the City v Cov match you attended less than a month ago! Or, someone asks about your first car and you can trot out the number plate, but lose your current car in a tiny car park because you went to work in the WIFES car instead? Or, standing in front of the fuel pump, you check you've selected the Unleaded , but still have a little bottom burp half way thru in case you're using the Diesel one. You want more? I'm sure I could come up with a few.

This is most likely to happen when eating a massive Chinese takeaway, or at pretty much any kind of all you can eat buffet I get his, a lot, and I'm 28 in August , indigestion as well, it's a killer. My digestive system is generally in a complete state. Inability to binge drink through shear fear of impending hang over, something I didn't even get in my early 20's. I never used to listen to people in their late twenties complaining about hang overs getting worse as you get towards 30. I thought they were full of sh1t, they are not, It is illness personified, and the anxiety you get with it makes you feel like you’re actually going to die. I am still just about able to play football 5 times a week but if I were a betting man I'd say my legs will be next to go in the next 2-4 years. I have complete distain for all modern music, besides being mildly "catchy" I cannot see any redeeming features in just about any track released this decade. I have started getting grey hair, not alot, and you wouldn't notice unless you were proper looking for it, but it's coming. And yes I am with Karl on the people born in the 90's being in pubs and clubs it is strange. People who were not born during Italia 90 drinking is bizarre, it'll be the ****ers who weren't around during USA 94 next and that will be mightily odd.
Captain... Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I know what you mean I was on holiday last weekend, big party in Valencia, on Saturday I was out all night and ended up going to bed as the sun came up (about 8 ish I think) then the next night we had to call it a night at 4, pathetic. Age is a mental state more than anything, and the fact is as you get older you don't want to do these things as much as you used, you don't see the point of getting so drunk you don't remember anything, and spending hours being crushed by sweaty teens in a dingy night club, to be honest I was never a big fan of that, you get settled, you nest, you would rather stay at home, because it is your home and not a dingy little shared house. There is also a huge stigma about being old in the UK, people point and laugh at the old couple in night clubs, and you have bars almost exclusively for young people and old people it is quite odd. you are almost forced to progress from drinking in the park, to the local pub that you know you can get served in, to the night club where you can use your fake id, to the student nightclub, to the late night bar, to the wine bar with the soft jazz, to the nice restaraunt, to the bottle of wine at home.

Rincewind Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Now I feel ancient. Either going out and meeting with mates who still go around the town Fridays at 70. Or going to Grace Road for the all night sleep out. Won't be partaking in that but I have offered to help out meaning I will have to stay awake. Going for a hours nap now. Come home to a page of unread threads.

I am Rod Hull Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Here`s a few of mine. Ear hair. My first piss of the morning takes ten minutes. Eyebrow hair replaced by pubes. Ear hair. There`s more but i`v forgotten, my memory aint what it was.
I am Rod Hull Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 90's child! There should be a 7pm curfew for anyone born before 1975....
StanSP Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 There should be a 7pm curfew for anyone born before 1975.... They're probably all asleep by then anyway

Zingari Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 When you go to a strip club and a girl asks you if you fancy super sex and you answer “soup please”
MikeyT Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I make groaning noises when I sit down and get up again. I also have a dodgy lower back as well and I'm only 32 in 17 days. Feel about 62 though.
Guest Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I used to prefer older women. now there are none left alive.
sphericalfox Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 You know you're getting old....when you come home form the pub and cry yourself to sleep You know you're getting old...when your eyebrows actually get in the way of seeing things. You know you're getting old...when you go for a piss, but five minutes later you feel as though you've pissed yourself, cos you can smell it. You know you're getting old...when you spend less time on grooming, as in the end it's pointless and no one cares that you look like Captain Caveman, but really it's just your own disregard, and everyone thinks you do. You know you're getting old...when you read/remember what you've typed/said just, that it didn't make any sense, and was a bit 'rambly'.

The Doctor Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 ****s sake - I'm a child of the 90's, yet I find myself agreeing with the Pubs > Clubs and modern music is poor comments. That is more than slightly depressing.
