Groundshare with the Tigers ..

Won't happen, should be announced in the next few days.

Is off, kaput, end of story, no longer a consideration.

Following on from what was said at the Open Meeting.:ph34r::unsure:

Financially it would have made sense. Despite this, I'll be happy if it doesn't happen.

I'm not arsed about rugger, I don't like the idea of sharing a stadium. I'm narrow-minded, and mad as hell.

Leicester = LCFC.

I wasnt too keen on the idea but the fact that it would have generated some (and i repeat some!) cash for LCFC would have been a plus. I dont think it would have made a huge difference in terms of pitch quality so didnt see much of an issue with it..

It could have brought in a whole new customer base for the restaurant, shop, tickets, hospitality, function suites, etc. All this would have helped the club cut down on its debts and ultimately help shape our future financially. Seeing as our parachute payments arent counting for much as we move along & if we dont go up this season we will be in more of a mess, it was a gifthorse to say the least. People have been very pessimistic about the whole thing but the advantages would have far outweighted the problems in my opinion ...

I agree, in theory it was going to cut our debts by 50% so we could losen the belt a bit on wages and signings! Oh well not to be and like most clubs, we will just have to put brave face on and play with the pennies we do have!

Our non-football revenue would also be cut by 50% if the venture did not generate any extra revenue. Non-matchday income would have to increase by 100% to ensure City did not make a loss.

The main issue with the meeting was how the club communicates to supporters, and the best way to do this. It was decided that there would be a panel made up of fans who would be made publically known so that fans who wanted to make any points on issues that arose could talk to these guys who would then represent them to the Club. This would be smaller than the Fans Forum, which was felt to be 'getting a bit stale'. Open meetings was an option, but to be honest, given the turnout at these things, even the groundshare where a lot of people seemed quite emotive, certainly on the forums, it does seem to me that when push comes to shove, nobody wants to actually get up there and voice their views! The possibility of voting, like with the Fosse v City, could be used with issues which can be solved with closed questions. For example, it looks like there will be a vote now on the Club's smoking policy for the season after this one.

L1 (and N) was discussed. The police will not allow 'police-free' games; we had about 6 last season. Costs for the lowest category game are in the region of £6,000-£8,000. These are significantly higher for category A games. There is talk of reducing the allocation for Cardiff and Leeds, possibly banning them from the stadium. I just hope that the latter is not needed, as I'm sure these clubs will reciprocate. If that happens, then all those who joined in the disgraceful chanting towards the Leeds fans are happy, because it's this incident, and the disgraceful behaviour of the Leeds fans following this that will be behind this decision, and if I have to miss a game because of a minority of idiots, I will not be happy.

There are other ways of making money, we dont have to prostitute ourselves with the Tigers.

Exactly!

I can think of a few ways, firslty sign ourselves an Asian player, the potential marketing revenue and merchandise we could sell would be worth it. Secondly, develop the academy and blood youngsters through who will either be moved on for a transfer fee or be an integral part of the football team and take us back up to the premiership.

Which part of groundsharing didn't/don't you like?

is it the pitch issue or another?

Definitly! Lets make money within football. We can build a good youth squad to take us into the Premiership and stay their for a long time. The best way to succes is to have a long term plan and development on the youth system is the best way.

However, we do need patience if this were to happen. It could mean another season in the Championship but then think about 5/10 years down the line...we will be in the big league season after season and hopefully competing for Europe every season. And then with this, more money is generated and there is no need to worry about money. And all we need to do is make sure we dont employ another Peter Taylor!

But surely the club would have explored all these avenues to generate cash - without success?

If they had ideas to generate cash and found a way, then ehy would have done it by now - same administration?

Perhaps the tigers ground share might have been the last resort?

Possibly, possibly not. Football clubs come up with ideas all the time, just like businesses do. If the tigers deal falls through then they are back to square one. They can either sit on their arse and moan about not generating enough revenue, or crack their heads together and tap in to some unchartered markets. The problem that Leicester face is they have had their fingers burnt and they don't like to take risks anymore. In business it's all about risk taking, without that you haven't got enterprize which is what we need.

...Or we could spiral down the leagues like Forest and Wednesday  <_<

Its just something I dont and never have felt comfortable with, its like losing our identity, who we are within the community. I think it would have helped the Tigers more than us anyway.

Maybe and that is a risk. But what do we gain from keep going up and down with different squads every season?

Why stop there. Why not sign one from every sizeable emerging country and go the whole hog on merchandise.

How about The Simpsons while we're at it. Plenty of options on the pitch, lots of fans trooping down to the Walkers. Prospects are endless.

With any luck and with someone like Seb Coe signed up to head the campaigning we could perhaps keep one place in the side open for an English lad. Potential problems would be overcome if we could alternate the ethnic background of the English lad from week to week.

We needn't finish there. Instead of the manager selecting the side in the traditional way according to ability, why not have a weekly poll among community leaders.

M&M's might be tempted to sponsor us if we guarantee that each player on the substitute's bench hails from a different continent. Can't see why we've not latched onto the commercial possibilities of all this years ago.

Finally, there's the problem of the Walkers being in England. Not just now. Every week. Never moves does it?.

Perhaps David Bellamy could be recruited to find alternative grounds around the world. Games could be arranged according to international timetables and beamed back to any remaining English fans in the middle of the night.

And there you have another trend-setting piece of merchandise: illuminating nightcaps in blue and white.

And all from one Asian signing....

We gain a lot more than being relegated!

So you would rather sprial down the leagues (and attract no players) than go up to the prem (and try and stay up) or stay in the div below the prem?

It's harder to be promoted 2 or 3 divisions than 1!

Tried and tested that. Cannot understand why we moved so far away from it or why the Board appointed and allowed managers to do so. Anyway, Levein seems to be more astute.

On another thread I asked what the forum felt the current City squad (those given numbers that is) was worth. Their answer was around £3million.

Be interesting to put a value on the squad again say, around Christmas. It would be a good way of measuring the progress being made.

Then everyone's got to be sensible about selling some, keeping some and still completing the conjuring trick of moving forward.

Lot of this ''Groundshare is on'' ''Groundshare is off'' rumour about.

Does anybody really have any verifiable, actual facts? On? or Off?

......... I won't bother with an opinion 'cos no-one at City or Tigers gives a stuff what I think, money will talk!

In answer to a question at the Open Meeting at the club last night, the fact is that TD stated it was off & something would be announced later this week. The impression we got was that the announcement would come from the Tigers camp.
