Posted a thread yesterday about Beckford. Ive noticed it ( and not just on that thread) the amount of people that whine about the thread. Isnt this a football board to talk about football?

Yeah pretty much, I got moaned at earlier for starting a thread for Wrestlemania in the general sport category section. Some toss pot moaned at me saying its entertainment not sport (even though we don't even have a entertainment section to put it in) In all there are many decent posters here but many wankers too

I've not seen your thread as I am staying away from anything football related on here until the shouting dies down, but I imagine people were moaning because there were probably already 3 threads on the front page about Beckford, and you could have just added to that one, or seeing as you were making reference to the events of the match, it could have also gone in the post match thread where people were probably already talking about it. If you make a new topic then people either have to post their views again, or read the same people making the same points over again and it all gets a bit boring/depressing.

Then starting another thread to discuss the thread you started rather than discussing it in the thread you are referring to, depsite the fact I am sure this has been discussed in that thread makes it all even more pointless. I could be cycnical and accuse you of attention seeking, but I can't be arsed, but one thing to bear in mind is that if you want to talk about Beckford and there is already a Beckford thread then people are probably already talking about him. Too many threads mean that people can't be arsed to read them all, just look at how many Pearson threads there are on the first page all utterly pointless.

I'm not having a go, I am just explaining why some people get pissed off.

Of course its a LCFC board and people will disagree with each other but the beauty is we can all say what we like, positive or more normally negative - keep posting and dont take feedback personally - enjoy the message boards some of us are quite happy its the others that are miserable :) :) :) :)

I can only echo what Captain Shrapnel said really. I just wish people would look for any relevant thread to add their thoughts to, instead of starting a new one every single time. It's really not difficult. Whatever you want to say, there's probably several appropriate threads already open for it to go in. I saw 3 or 4 threads all to do with Bamba in midfield recently. They were all at the top of the list, as well as one just called "Bamba".

It's nothing personal. So many people do this.

There's 182 Beckford threads already, people who use the forum regularly not just after disappointing results would wonder why one of those threads wasn't used.

Secondly that Beckford thread, by the title would indicate it was going to be about a potential fall-out which means it would be full of pointless Chinese whispers like the Mills thread where people dint discuss anything they just write stuff about what a mate of a mate had said their dog had said... nothing of substance or anything to debate at all.

As it happened the Beckford thread turned into general chat about Beckford so one of the other Beckford threads would have been a better place for it.

General internet rules are you only start a thread if there's not another similar one already active.

Well that depends if all those posts are criticising you for starting it then it proves nothing, other than some people have too much time on their hands, I started reading it and got bored but didn't find any posts slagging you off for starting the thread in the first few pages.

So that makes this thread also pretty redundant, anyway I hope you understand now why it may have upset people and will try and post things in an existing thread if applicable before starting a new one. Thank you.

I assume you're directing this vaguely in my direction which is fair enough, I wasn't having a dig at you per se, but it gets pretty tiresome after matches when we end up with about 10 reactionary threads that are started which all have a scatter gun approach to the exact same subject. As the good Captain mentioned that could quite easily have gone in either of the aforementioned threads. It took wading through ten pages of that thread to find anything of substance on the incident you highlighted, not saying that's your fault you couldn't help the tangents a thread takes once it's started, but It ends up just being the same people shouting the same opinions they've showed in every other 100 of the exact same threads that are based on the same subject.
