tommypello Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 palace is a palace is a git to get to anyway you go road or rail as opposed to a coach going by???
Mack Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 palace is a palace is a git to get to anyway you go road or rail M25 got shut, luckily I was listening to the radio and went through town. You'd think the coach drivers would check the travel information!
Leicesterpool Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Birmingham away this season, dreadful match, crap atmosphere, no trains back had to get a coach. Plus going I had to get bus to Coventry and then get a train from Cov to Brum. Sheffield Wednesday away in 2009-10 season was pretty poor along with our trip to Swansea last season.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 M25 got shut, luckily I was listening to the radio and went through town. You'd think the coach drivers would check the travel information! Yes this was by far the worst away day I've been too, terrible start to the season stuck on a stuffy coach on the motorway for ages. Finally got back early hours of the morning had to drive back home could barely keep eyes open, driving through the centre of Leicester and got pulled over as I was so tired I forgot to put my lights on, good f***ing times!
OzFox Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 A few come to mind the 7-1 at Shef Weds,5-1 at Forest and any Wembley defeat. As for the shitting yourself bit Portsmouth in 93 and Middlesborough in i think 89,Stoke at the old victoria ground after the play off semi final and Arsenal in the league cup at highbury,i think it was 90/91, we got lost around the side streets after the game and had more than our fair share of slaps that night. We then found our minibus and thought its all over.........................Oh no we got on the north circular and bang a brick through the window and then they tried to tip the minibus over whilst we were still in it. That night tested the bowel control i can tell you Also went to Leeds the year they won promotion and they invaded the pitch at the end and started throwing seats and advertising boards at us Can anyone remember the Cov pitch invasion in the very early 80's and the buddha lads at Ipswich was also going to mention the oxford game but someone beat me to it. yeah I remember their manager (bobby gould i think) appealing for calm and crying at one point. That was a scary walk back to the station that day My worst was being headbutted by a big East End skinhead. Not Millwall or West Ham, but Orient of all places. How embarrassing
WillyBeet Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Did anyone else experience the dreadful Johnstones Paint Trophy away day at Rotherham a couple of years back? For the record - it was absolutely shite
Northants Fox 3 Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 The hell hole that is Luton Town away forget the year.....I remember our fans were taking the P*** out of their fans the whole game (We lost 2-0 i think) 5 mins from the end we were told we would be held back for 5 mins...Our fans then gave them more grief ........ we came out the ground and there were the Luton fans behind a Police line which they broke out of, all that was seen next was our fans running down the hill...
Bangkok Mick Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Can anyone remember .................... the buddha lads at Ipswich Yeah.. I was at the game. It was mental. Invaded the pitch twice when we scored. 2 ipswich lads were taking the p*** out of some city lads going into a pub... which unfortunately for them was packed full of city... one of whom promptly walked outside and nutted the Ipswich lad. and at the end of the game their whole end was run twice by a handful of Leicester. The Buddha lads were BS. Palace away... everytime because It`s sh*t to get to and also the fixture doesn`t inspire me Millwall away in the FA cup at the old den in the 80`s... game was only called on at the last minute due to freezing weather. Only about 200 of us. thank god we lost 2-0 Charlton away when they played at Upton park..... we were pushing for promotion, about 8,000 city fans, great atmosphere.. lost 2-0 & got nicked! Blackburn away in the 1/4 final of FA cup... crap game, lost to Dickov goal Plymouth away... last game of the season on a Sunday arrived at 9am to watch a dull 0-0 Oldham away... anytime.... when their away end had no roof... and always rained..... Portsmouth for the same reason Newcastle away... last game of a season when they got promotion, won 7-1 I think and lads were being pulled out and getting nicked for incidents when they came to our place Swindon at wembley Fo**es (away).... when we had to play our home leg there in the play offs against Portsmouth. They took the p*ss out of Julian Joachim for the entire game...until he sped through to make it 1-0 Too many cracking away days to mention Southend.. two late goals from oh Tommy Wright, mental night in Southend to follow Madrid... It would have been quicker to get there if we`d chartered our own jet and gone via Hong Kong... but what a laugh Blackburn on a Saturday.... because you can stay the weekend in Blackpool Middlesborough League Cup Final at Hillsbrorough Leyton Orient in the late 70s. Last game of the season in the late 70s` when we won for promotion and Leicester invaded to pitch from 3 sides
Kitchandro Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Derby away in the play-off season. When Weale let that under his foot, the speed at which the optimism drained out of me was frightening. Complete sucker punch and the match was depressingly bad from then on. Coventry away under Sousa. I hadn't slept a wink the night before so I was already irritable by the time we got there. We should have been 4-0 up at half time but conceded right on the stroke of 45. Had to endure about half an hour of non-stop stick from the Chavs, made worse by the fact that they were in the play-off places and we were bottom at the time. It was inconcievable considering we were clearly a far better team, yet somehow couldn't get near their goal in the second half, down to Sousa's terrible tactics. Then we scored and piled the pressure on, and again somehow couldn't find a winner. I was absolutely shattered on the way back and just felt completely pissed off. Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off season (no atmosphere, played poorly, lost 2-0) and Donny this season (just a horrific performance and a long journey home in a small car) come close as well.
Leicester_Numan Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Hull, first match of the 89-90 season. Because of Hillsborough, they'd closed one side of the ground and we were all jammed in behind the goal. It was a boiling hot day and there were too many of us in there. I was having a right go at the copper standing near our section to open up the empty part of the ground. He said he couldn't do anything. I told him he'd have another Hillsborough on his hands and just to emphasise my point, a few people were stretchered out. He was straight on his radio and the stand was opened up. A couple of hundred of us went in there and it was still rammed behind the goal. I nearly passed out from the heat in the other stand. Horrible day, but, I could see the scoreboard and that's how I found out about the only other person in the UK with the same name as me. I looked up and said What? It's not my birthday! DUH!
Leicesterpool Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Cov away's are always shit, mainly down to the crap atmosphere. The 1-0 win at the start of the season was the best game I've ever seen at the ricoh. Though I can remember 2002-03 season away to Cov at Highfield Road that was a classic also that was my first foxes away.
Kitchandro Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Oh and Scunthorpe in the play-off season. Should have won easily but showed little desire to get a second goal in the 2nd half, they got a stoppage time equaliser and I was on fox travel, which is really shit.
Guy Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Getting set up on near the Hawthorns in 1995 was the only time I've been assaulted at a game. This was by a group of disgruntled WBA thugs who I don't think had been to the game but had instead watched it in a pub nearby (as it was an ITV televised live Sunday game in the October). They were probably a bit tanked up. It was after we'd beaten them 2-3 so they were not happy! The amusing thing was that I had my Leicester attire on and was doing a bit of chanting as we returned to the car so in essence I expected a slap but my two WBA mates I was with had their WBA tops on underneath their sweaters - but were assumed to be Foxes fans also by this gang as they were with me - so they got a whack or two as well - worse than I did if anything! The air was a bit blue between us all after as we all returned to Northampton.........and I was not popular with them for a few weeks afterwards! We still talk about that day on occasions........

mrgarrison16 Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Probably Brighton Away this year. Travelled from Manchester to Leicester to travel with my brother, shit match with the inevitable late winner for the them (plus the stupid Beckford red card). Then we had to wait over an hour to get the buses they provided back to the car. Finally driving back up the M1 the snow came big style and we spent most of the journey doing 20mph and trying not to crash
purpleronnie Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 I remember going to see villa play liverpool (a bit OT I know) . We queued for ages just to get close to the turnstiles when 'sold out' sign appeared. edit: it was jan 1991.
class 1 Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Yep remember that one very well.We ended up locked in the ground after because the Hull lads were fighting with the police on the supermarket carpark after the game. Was that the weekend when a group of our lot got on the roof of a pub, i think it was called the foresters? yeah it was the foresters , had a bit of a yard at the front if i remember right , i ended up sleeping in the back of an old lorry that was left open cos we left getting digs too late good job i had my beer quilt on
James18 Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Losing to Forest 5-1. It was the first time I visited the City Ground and I was really excited for the game. Biggest let down ever.
Leicester_Numan Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Yep remember that one very well.We ended up locked in the ground after because the Hull lads were fighting with the police on the supermarket carpark after the game. . Just thought i'd mention a couple of good away trips from the 89-90 season. Anyone remember our first away win at Stoke when they locked us in forever and we just carried on singing Jingle Bells? There were 6 of us that went to Plymouth, we walked into the Walrus pub, the barman pointed at us and said 3 pints of lager, 2 pints of bitter and a white wine. I said "how did you know that"? And he replied "I remember you all from last year". That's the only time that's happened to me on an away trip. Always nice when you're remembered for the right reasons. Shame about the game but we made up for it with a quick pub crawl afterwards

You just dont get that now. Also remember the hari krishnas at Ipswich, floodlight climbing at Oxford, scrapping at Port Vale, also Swindon away first game under Brian Little chasing their fans out of their ground!
Karljohn Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 . Just thought i'd mention a couple of good away trips from the 89-90 season. banko71 Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 It wasHarry Krishna at Ipswich, hilarious when they went across executive boxes Yep spot on I can only remember the bold heads going across the exec boxes. Still one of the funniest things that i have seen at a game
Asha Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 The Wolves 4-3 was only my second away game. Was loving life at 3-0, but the second half was harrowing. Every time they went forward they looked like scoring. 2-1 defeat at Hillsborough in January 06 under Levein. Completely depressing performance and at the time we were on the verge of the relegation zone. I was at the 6-1 Portsmouth last year, and despite the obviously shit performance it was a surprisingly good night
Guest bss9401 Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Wow someone else here went to the Old Den for that FA Cup 5th round game!! One of the very few occasions when losing didn't really bother me. Scary place with lots of trashed cars and vans in a cold, lifeless, total exclusion zone around the ground. A few Millwall fans tried for ages to get at our fans during the game and a few incredibly brave (brainless) Foxes fans took them on. Coppers didn't care. The Hare krishnas at Ipswich were priceless, especially when a load ran over their old exec box roofs and jumped in with their fans. Being attacked by Hare krishna Leicester fans will never be believed unless you witnessed it . My worst is any 2-0 loss at an old style uncovered away end on a cold wet day, ie boro, Sunderland, Oldham etc. I have seen lots of them and I always get the 'I wanna go home' feeling.
