Pearsons replacement?

out of curiosity for all those wanting NP to have Time to build his squad, prove him self etc what kind of time fram do you thik he should have??

I'll start judging him properly around the 12-15 game mark, I'm not saying that's all I'll give him because that depends on so many things. But I will be a lot harsher on him around that time than I currently am.

I'd started to judge Sven around the same time last year, and obviously the owners did the same but were perhaps a bit more hasty.

bearing in mind he has had a full summer and full season with us before and couldnt manage it..

Couldn't manage it? You think losing on pennos in the playoffs after promotion was an under achievement or something? All whilst actually producing a transfer PROFIT during his entire tenure.

What would be a good indication? I think the playoffs ideally, top 6 for me if we aren't in those positions at that stage than I would be a bit concerned, also whether we can produce a winning run so more than 2 games ideally

Ideally we'd be in the top 8 at least but if not we'd have to be showing progress, which imo was the reason Sven got the boot things were not improving.

If we aren't looking like contenders by October then we need to consider the future.

Interesting you say that if we want to get automatic promotion next season a good indicator would be looking at this season. Southampton after 15 games had 33 points likewise West Ham with 28 points so if we could average 2 points a game we would be in a strong position this is what I would like to see but if we are in the top 6 at that stage after 15 games, it would give some confidence that we could stay in those positions throughout the whole season.

Position wouldn't concern me too much early on, you're only ever a win or two from the top. Having a clue would be a good start, under Sven we were chopping and changing the team and formations so much early on. I think it was obvious from recruitment he wanted to play 4-3-3 again, when it didn't work he looked desperate to try and shoe horn them in to a different formation and I think the lack of wingers limited him massively in what he could do.

If you are buying these players and having a preseason you at least hope he has a well thought out idea of his first 11 and how it would work. I just didn't feel like that at all.

I think also Sven realized that we didn't have the personnel to fulfill 4-3-3 efficiently, or he didn't realize the players limitations so he reverted back to the old guard and the problems were still occurring. For me he had the right intentions on the philosophy to adopt but it went horribly wrong.

After 15 games next season Ideally we would be showing some form, because I feel that the first half of the season is crucial in gathering momentum. Their shouldn't excuses for NP now he will be given a summer to implement his team for next season, the owners I feel will want results relatively quickly or that their is indication that this team is looking like having promotion credentials but that is just my opinion we don't have to be in the top 2 necessarily after 15 games but top 6 would be ideal.

Starting to look like October is gonna be the defining moment, if not for LCFC, for the fans on the board.

This season we had improved by 12 places from where we had been the previous October and were 2 points off fourth place when Sven was fired v bottom when he was hired - now that's magic, Nige is gonna need to be top 6 to be considered, top 3 to be safe I reckon.

Interestingly, the club just behind when Sven was elbowed out was Readiing with 17 points - silly old Top, he made a mistake

I really do think there was more to it than just the position.

As I have mentioned to you, we were 2 points off the playoffs on March 1st and our run of form towards the end of the season was pretty dreadful. That definitely played a part in their thinking for me, and they said as much themselves.

I would also not be shocked if they had reservations about his recruitment. Most people on here did when we were asking why we only had one winger in the squad!

NP has the chance now to get rid of the players he does not want and get others in, he has the opportunity to get them to gel before the season starts, once the season is under way the I think he should say until the end of the season whether we are top 6 or bottom 6.

This season I think we should have stuck with Sven, changing mid- season is wrong in my eyes.

I also hope if Top decides to change the Manager he has one lined up before getting rid of NP.

Now lets all get behind NP and all the team.

Building for next year starts now.

We messed up by getting rid of Sven lets not mess it up and look like clowns by getting rid of NP...support him please

If we are in the bottom half by November, he will be gone, I will give him till October/November, for judgement

Laughable that you think that Sven would have turned it around after the most inept performance against a Millwall side ever, who could not score, who could not win a game in 12. Suddenly they come to the King Power and absolutely destroy us 3-0, as did Bristol as did Reading. We also lost against a poor Birmingham side and threw away a 2 goal lead at Forest. We beat Watford at home a few days before the Millwall game, but that was exactly the same as the Burnley game except Watford couldnt defend. Other than that we had a smittering of decent results, and a host of bore drawns where we looked incapable of penetrating a paper bag. Reading had a manager of proven calibre in this division, he had made the playoffs before and he has gone one step better.

We were getting no better under Sven, in fact in the periods where he brought in his own players we got worse. Our best period was Jan/Feb last year, then he started needlessly tinkering with a good team, from then on we dropped off. And he never looked like getting into the playoffs let alone top 2. Fazakerley was an utterly inept right hand man to choose and thats probably Svens biggest error.

Reckon we'll be in a good position then so it'll be fine...if not he'll no doubt get the sack and we'll have a similar season again...can't think of a manager that could do any better being available!

Sven was appointed for his name and potential pulling power-no pun intended lol...it didn't work! but u never know what position we could of been in under him now! love to have one of those crystal balls...let's give NP a crack
