Leicester_lad_92 Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 I do think we should give Pearson time to build his squad this summer, but IF I had to replace him, I'd go for Paulo Di Canio, he wouldn't stand for any messing and knows all about being and playing with big players, his passion and love for the fans would bring us all together I feel, worth w shout?
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 so hes proved himself already yet your saying hes no better than NP.. Yes he proved himself as he was given time.... something Nigel deserves. At this moment in time there's no questiont that MM has a better CV than NP but he's had way more time in the game..... Despite that i still dont believe MM has any better chance of getting us than NP. Previous success doesnt always work plus NP has a very good track record of signings, his scouting network is excellent
Babylon Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Hang on why bother having a poll if you are going to have some fvckwit like essexdummy being allowed to post things like named and shamed ? not exactly in the spirit of democracy is it . I have no problem in putting my name to any poll on here so why is that retard hinting I should be ashamed to have an opinion ? Why don't you ask him?
Babylon Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 so hes better because he may take a team up one day? What? Who said he was better? People keep bleating on about having a proven manager, when in fact it means almost bugger all really of late.
Babylon Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 how do you define a good manager then ?? surely they need to prove themselves before they can be deemed as good. How long do you give someone to prove themselves? 5 months? Mick McCarthy took 2 and 3 years to get Sunderland and Wolves promoted. If he'd been sacked after 5 months in both jobs, or even a year he wouldn't have promotions on his CV either. I don't have a clue if Pearson will get us promoted, but I believe 5 months and a January transfer window isn't always enough to change a clubs fortunes. For me until he'd had his pre season and summer window it's not fair to judge him and write him off, just as it wasn't with Sven.

cityfanlee23 Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Well, that's the thing, really. We don't know who's better yet. If we're served up the same rubbish, or worse, again next season I say we should look for a new manager, but until then, we don't know what's going to happen. Pearson might be able to turn the squad into something good over the summer, or he might not. I do see what you mean - a CV with a promotion on it is better than one without, but every manager who gets a club promoted has to do it for the first time at some point. I mean there was a time when Ferguson, Shankly, O'Neill and Clough all had blank CVs. I think what I'm trying to say is that you can't know how well any team will perform based on what their manager has done in the past, or how big the manager's reputation is. Looks like Brian McDermott will claim the title this season, with Nigel Atkins runner-up, beating the likes of Sven Goran Eriksson, Neil Warnock, Sam Allardyce, Steve McClaren, Chris Hughton and Paul Jewell. Who would have guessed that at the start of the season? Well, that's the thing, really. We don't know who's better yet. Babylon Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Spot on as usual... I concur Except the last part about writing Sven off...
flowwolf Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Why don't you ask him? Would love to but it seems the little shit has gone to ground.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Except the last part about writing Sven off... Don't forget that I 'conceded' over that and stated that I was willing to give him the summer and see what happened..... The rest, as they say, is history... No one will convince me I was wrong over Sven, as I don't believe I'm wrong over Beckford either.
Babylon Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Don't forget that I 'conceded' over that and stated that I was willing to give him the summer and see what happened..... I must have missed that one No one will convince me I was wrong over Sven, as I don't believe I'm wrong over Beckford either. And seenitall etc may very well be right on Pearson. When people say "the managers shit, it will end in tears" statistically they are most probably going to be correct. As many more managers fail to get promotion than those that do.
AjcW Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Im definitely not one of these who wants to see Pearson go, in fact I think a stable summer is just what we need, however...... ... What needs to change next season is Pearson's failure to admit to bad performances. Case in point, Paulo Di Canio on tuesday night called his players a bunch of useless idiots, a group of players who are currently top of the league. On tuesday night Pearson defended one of the worst performances I have ever seen and again said the players were unlucky. Thats is something I have definitely had enough of! I would also like to see us stick to more of a passing game if possible, the players we have here currently are suited to it, and the teams that are getting out of the division are playing that way, so why are we not embracing it???
coolhandfox Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Why are we even discussing this, we need stability to be successful. Judge a manager over 18-24 months not 3 months
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Why are people continuing to say Paulo Di Canio? He is ****ed in the head. Also what has he done to deserve a chance to manage at a bigger club? A lot moaning that Pearson has never got a team out of the Championship yet Di Canio has not even managed in League 1 ( a division which NP won btw).

Guest Foxin_mad Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 Some of the names suggested here are really funny and show how clueless our fans are. Give Pearson a chance at least we know he wont waste millions of overprice overated wannabes who are not good enough. The tree signings he has made so far have already looked more promising that some of the crap brought in by Sven.

This is horses for courses. Even if it is a good idea to slag off the players after a bad performance sometimes, it certainly won't apply all the time. If, like Swindon, the team is top of the league, and they put in a bad performance, then the players might have been complacent and a kick up the arse might be the best way to deal with it. However, if like us, the team is struggling in mid-table and failing to deal with the pressure of expectation, the same treatment could well be disastrous.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 I didn't say I want paulo di canio, I said I admired his honesty this week!! Was't aimed at your comment. There are people posting throughout the thread that Di Canio would be a good choice but he would be an even bigger disaster than Martin Allen, The Ginger Mourinho and Holloway combined.
Babylon Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 I didn't say I want paulo di canio, I said I admired his honesty this week!! I remember when Holloway came out and slated the players after a few performances, people on here ripped him to bits for that saying you shouldn't slate the players in public etc. Personally if the manager is going to rip them a new one i'd rather he did it in private rather than in public.
m00nie Posted 20 April 2012 Posted 20 April 2012 out of curiosity for all those wanting NP to have Time to build his squad, prove him self etc what kind of time fram do you thik he should have?? a full next season ? 2 full seasons? less than a full season ~? bearing in mind he has had a full summer and full season with us before and couldnt manage it..

I'm not saying get rid of Pearson I am backing him and think he needs time to build a young hungry squad this summer and he is a good manager BUT if the worst came to it and the owners got rid I personally would like to see paulo given the chance with his passion and drive I think he'll make a great manager in future and has been there done it as a player, he'll be west Ham manager soon IMO anyway. But get behind Pearson he deserves a summer at least to build we need consistency.
