St George's Day on Monday people. Anyone doing anything for it? A day off work maybe?

I'm off to a St George's Day 'do' tonight down Hugglescote. A couple of live Indie bands and a Kasabian cover band too apparantley. Could get messy!

With St George in my heart keep me English!!

Not really an English thing to do though is it?National days are more for lesser nations who need to talk themselves up.

This.

We don't need National days, saint's days or any other of that rubbish.

We're English and the rest are jealous

I agree on the whole. I'm only going tonight as its a local night out. Still a time to celebrate if that's what you choose though

Like Webbo and FIF say, as English people, we don't need to make a song and dance about it like the Celts - it would be rude to rub their noses in it. St. George was Turkish, anyway.

Before I came downstairs this morning I found an England flag in a bag of rubbish when making a space in the kitchen. Just dumped it in a couple of large carriers cos my windows were being done.

I wonder if I'll get any reaction considering I live in South Highfields? Not too bothered about St georges Day anyway. I believe he wasn't even English and dragons do not and never have existed. I'll display it when England play next.

A pub I went in last night were displaying England flags (The Goose? in the market) so I don't know where this notion comes from that the English are banned from having flags.

That's a load of rubbish anyway. Coalville looks brilliant with all the flags put up by the council. There must be over 50 hanging off the shops

No.

Fuck that for a bunch of bananas.

The only good thing about having a patron saint is getting the day off work.

Why don't you English fucks do something useful for a change and lobby the govt to make St George's Day a public holiday?

I want it done by the time I move over, so you've around 2/3 years to make it happen.
