We Are Family!

The price hike is mainly affecting students, I thought, but I could be wrong I don't look at those age price brackets any more :(

The Stewards, the Fosse boys, again is not really about age, and is probably a bit of a hangover from football violence in the past and is catering more to make a safer atmosphere, rightly or wrongly, and they do want to attract more people and make it a more inclusive atmosphere, that includes children, women and ethnic minorities. We've all heard unsavoury abuse from opposition fans, and I guess the concern is that by allowing a group like the Fosse Boys and create a singing section and would encourage that kind of thing from ours and opposition fans.

There is more they could do, but things like unreserved seating and standing areas are viewed as a health and safety risk, as would loosening the alcohol restrictions. Recently we have managed to get a good inclusive friendly atmosphere going with the new chants and scarves. We are not going to get the same atmosphere as we had 20 years ago, for better or for worse, so what we need is to move with the times and an inclusive friendly atmosphere is arguably better than a smaller louder singing section.

As for the N block fiasco/back stabbing, I don't know about that, so I can't comment.

Too be fair I think we are looking back with rose tinted glasses, atmosphere at Filbo was't always great!

Makes you feel proud until you see 49 other clubs won the award.

The club needs to work harder on being the best alone. This is so crucial, without families attending the club will probably fold.

The price hikes will affect anyone moving up a category, regardless of whether they're a student or not.

As for alienating the young adults (some older adults will feel the same about the club), you have to look at the bigger picture. It's not just at Leicester City, it's football in general. Clubs are trying their hardest to attract fans from particular backgrounds, be it "nice" young families, to big spending corporate hospitality. Large groups standing, chanting and using "naughty words", probably beered up, is not what they want, after all, how do you sell an expensive VIP experience if those people are going to be confronted with what the authorities consider "inappropriate behaviour".

These groups have been unfairly targeted, with ejections and even arrests. In some instances, fans have been identified from CCTV and written to, and given bans for breaking ground regulations, which would be great were it not for the fact that it's one or two out of larger numbers. It's not the best way of encouraging them to support their team.

It's all very well football wanting to cash in on new supporters, but they need to keep the ones that they already have happy, or they'll never see their attendances increase.

Lisa's blog is absolutely fantastic and I agree with pretty much every word of it, you've put into perfect words my exact thoughts.

Thanks :)

All very true lisa, and I can't see how things will ever change.

They do similiar things in the states to attract families but they also try and attract as they put it the more 'rowdy' fans too.......I guess we are just too scared in England that the bad old days might return.

Lisa and davieG are spot on here. Don't the club realise they didn't need tacky pro-family gimmicks to get generaitons of young fans keen on City?

For me the sights, sounds and smells of Filbo as a five year old are what got me hooked in the first place!

I think we need to look at the game as a whole rather than individual clubs. With player wages and transfer fees at ridiculous highs and most clubs main source of income coming through gate receipts and merchandise us fans are going to have to foot the bills.

Wage capping and limiting transfer fees would keep costs low and level the field out making the game more exiting as more clubs with a good manager could compete at the top.

Maybe they are spot on , but like every other club , Leicester City is not operating in a vacuum . They are only doing what the rest of the clubs are doing , and that is being led, or rather dragged along , by rampant commercialism .

Either adapt , or give up being a supporter because there really isn't any real choice for the real fans

you can try , but i doubt if you'll have much success .the steamroller will continue on as it has done because more people will buy in than buy out

i do agree with your sentiments but not your optimism :(
