Finnegan Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 What? I wonder whether you'd have posted the same thing had a different member started the thread and had put the same as me? I suppose in your view, we're supposed to 'let this go' yet continue to apologise to every citizen who's country used to be in our Empire? Were we that dominant in the past that you now feel the need to act the opposite, and play down any victory we've ever had? Despite this being a victory for mankind rather than one upmanship? I'm just glad the boys 68 years ago decided not to 'let it go' Well **** me, if that's the overall feeling about dates like today then I really am embarassed to breathe the same air as some of you. One thing that always bothers me is wondering whether the vets looking at society today believe whether it was worth doing what they did. Judging by Nicks answer and the current +1 his post has gained, I'd say I bet they wished they'd not bothered. For all your accusations of me in the past saying I'm racist may I say that I for once am genuinely embarassed to have people like you classing yourself as a City fan British Go and support Leeds. Their fans showed as much empathy as you during the last post last season. You'll be welcome there I'd steal Nick's quote here (sarcastically), but he'd come back online immediately and brand me racist Nice one, Nick.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 June 2012 Author Posted 8 June 2012 Nice one, Nick. Yeh well done. Rather than trying to wind me up on a thread of less importance he ruins one which has a fair amount of significance to everyone. Classy. Its rather sad when one only comments on the thread due to their dislike of a poster rather than their interest in the topic.

The 68th anniversary of D-Day isn't some hallowed day to be marked with hushed reverence. If hundreds die in some awful tragedy tomorrow and Nick hijacks the thread to take the piss out of you then we'll reconvene to discuss how disrespectful he is. And it's not about liking you or disliking you it's just about finding amusement in the fact that three tiny syllables can set you off, rampantly frothing at the mouth, ranting at nothing and talking to yourself without him even needing to respond. Hilarious. And he's right, you are obsessed, you do have a hard-on for war and "heroism" right down to the point where you'll completely ignore a reasoned argument and start making ridiculous assumptions about people to fit the unhealthy imaginings that are going on in Stu World. Nick doesn't lack respect for those who served in the war, nor do plenty of others. It's possible to both have an appreciation for what they did but also mourn the fact they needed to do it. It's possible to both have respect for horrors they faced and not have to come to a stand still every year, forever, at the anniversary of every major battle. We mark the end of the war, rightfully, there's no need to honour the rest. Oh and I can't remember the last time I, or anyone else in the real world, felt the need to apologize to a black person, an Indian, an Irishman or anyone else. Grow the **** up, wake the **** up and stop living your life in the tabloids.

Standing at the graves just off the cliffs of normandy anyone would be a fool to think its glorified.
Finnegan Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 I'm not assuming anything, I'm judging you on hundreds of posts about war, soldiers, respect and other cliches you've gone on about. And you've been to a war grave, whoop de do, most of us have been on a school trip before.

sphericalfox Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Who does lcfcstu argue with when its not sunny? You know, when he can't see his shadow?
Nick Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Who does lcfcstu argue with when its not sunny? You know, when he can't see his shadow? He doesn't see his shadow. He just looks at the dark patch on the ground next to him and sees me laughing at him. I should perhaps be worried. I bet there's a fair amount of military paraphernalia knocking about his house........

Zingari Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 “There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.” John Adams
Nick Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Racists? The Welsh? The E U? The BNP Muslamic Ray Gun Terrorists? Errr How many guesses do we get? “There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.” John Adams Ah Capital One, sponsors of the League Cup.
Webbo Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 “There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.” John Adams I get what you're saying and I have a bit more sympathy for this conspiracy theory than others but I think you're crediting these people with more intelligence than they deserve. I think this Euro crisis is more the result of arrogance and incompetence than deliberate design.
Zingari Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 new world order , international banking cartel, military industrial complex , give it any name you want but no doubt you'ii associate them all with lizardmen anyway I get what you're saying and I have a bit more sympathy for this conspiracy theory than others but I think you're crediting these people with more intelligence than they deserve. I think this Euro crisis is more the result of arrogance and incompetence than deliberate design. they've done it in South America for years
cambridgefox Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 “There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.” John Adams Sounds like Jerry Adams!
Webbo Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 You can't say borrowing money for infrastructure projects, ports, docks, roads, railways etc benefit only a few rich people.
Zingari Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 There's some truth in that. no, there's a lot of truth in it
Nick Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Come on now, back on track please in this thread: Where were we? Oh, LCFC Stu, patriot or sociopath?
