Jimothy Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 That team would get totally raped, by any team! Far, far, far to offensive. Playing with 5 strikers/wingers and one midfield. Plus Gerrard isn't a holding midfielder, you lose so much restricting him to that. You need Parker in there. If you want two out and out strikers drop one of Ox, Walcott or Young for Parker, or play Young off the striker and drop the other striker for Parker. Glad you're not manager, that team is far too open!
Guest shearfox Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 we have to win though, have to!! Worst team selection ever, Parker was good tonight and is very consistent, why you leave him out to play an attacking midfielder in that role boggles the mind. Needs to be very much the same team against France, Sweden don't have the same attacking threat so we will see a lot more of the ball and create more chances. But we need to maintain that solid, rigid system.
Jimothy Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 we have to win though, have to!! Yes but that's far too gung-ho! The only change from tonight would be Walcott for Milner to give a more attacking edge. No team in the tournament, no matter how desperate would play that open a team! Sometimes being solid can be the best form of attack. Think Liverpool in the Champions League final, took off an attacking playing in Kewell for a defensive player in Hamann and 0-3 down and got back to 3-3.
Danno Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 Hart Johnson Terry Lescott Cole Parker Gerrard Walcott Young AOC Welbeck
Tielemans63 Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 Same team for me. I'd also consider swapping Milner for Walcott though - we shouldn't need to be quite so defensive against the Swedes.
Guest MattP Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 What on earth did Parker do wrong?! Defoe is an impact player at best.
Haydos Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 Same team for me. I'd also consider swapping Milner for Walcott though - we shouldn't need to be quite so offensive against the Swedes. Maybe this actually. Milner got about well and there's a chance we'll need less cover than we did against France. Although Wilhelmsson did look pretty dangerous tonight.
Jaspa Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 Thats literally my old FM formation I'd probably go Hart - Johnson - Terry - Lescott -Cole - Parker - Gerrard - OxladeC - Young - Milner - Defoe/Carroll Pretty much the same, but think that team go do well if they got some more time together; especially the attacking mids
Bert Posted 11 June 2012 Posted 11 June 2012 Same team for me. I'd also consider swapping Milner for Walcott though - we shouldn't need to be quite so defensive against the Swedes. Agree
Fox92 Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 Same team. Look organised, worked hard and best of all; didn't loose lose.
foxfanazer Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 Hart, Johnson, terry, lescott, cole, Walcott, Gerrard, Parker, Ox, Young, wellbeck. Johnson needs to track back a lot quicker than he did against France, Stevie G had to spend too much time covering him
AyewJoking Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 Probably should stick with the players who started against France. I'm sure we wont be so defensive playing Sweden and that team should create chances and goals.
LCFC_Wade96 Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 same goalie, back four and same centre mids, but change milner if you want keep ox, more creativity needed
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 Like someone said before, same team but put a winger in for milner as we don't have to be so defensive. Also would like Carroll to come on as an impact sub instead of defoe
lc4lcfc Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 same team as versus france walcott for milner, maybe bring milner into centre mid when parker starts running out of steam?
MooseBreath Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 Same team but with Walcott in for Milner Edit: didn't read above posts. I agree.
marbelladave Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 The news this morning is that both Gerrard and Parker are suffering from their exertions the other night and might need to be 'rested'. With a combined age of about 92 and recent fitness issues, that is hardly surprising. Step up.........Jordan Henderson....
