Daggers Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Always found it an interesting alternative put forward but I don't know anywhere near enough about it Wonders never cease! I can't tolerate, insults Go and feed your chickens you fcuking bum. Can you answer post 251 first please Drags? I'm on an iPhone you pedantic twat. you're a very bright guy but unfortunately a keyboard warrior, nothing more, nothing less. I don't give a shit what you call me, carry on, but I just wonder if you can tolerate hypocrisy?
Guest MattP Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Because having enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world twice over just isn't enough. What's the actual reason given though? I mean the two main parties will do absolutely anything whatsoever to get at each other yet they both completely agree on this and that we need to keep it.
Guest MattP Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 I don't give a shit what you call me, carry on, but I just wonder if you can tolerate hypocrisy? I think you have to on here I'm sure you would agree, my insults were in reaction to yours.

They need to update the weapons system in order to combat the ever changing nature of the threat faced by the UK from external forces.
Rincewind Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Maybe on this they are the puppets not the puppeteers.
Guest MattP Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 They need to update the weapons system in order to combat the ever changing nature of the threat faced by the UK from external forces. So we could be talking quite a substantial risk to National Security getting rid of it?
FoxyPV Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 So we could be talking quite a substantial risk to National Security getting rid of it? No. The only danger that would be faced, would be the backlash from the MOD contractors who milk the system dry.
Daggers Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 I think you have to on here I'm sure you would agree, my insults were in reaction to yours. You U-turn more than a Cameron cabinet. What's your occupation? Goldfish?
Guest MattP Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 No. The only danger that would be faced, would be the backlash from the MOD contractors who milk the system dry. Fair enough, I have a friend who is actually quite high up in BAE, I'll get his opinion. You U-turn more than a Cameron cabinet. What's your occupation? Goldfish? Freelance.
Captain... Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 No. The only danger that would be faced, would be the backlash from the MOD contractors who milk the system dry. We also have a funny relationship with US over our nuclear capabilities, and by decommissioning trident we would seriously piss them off.
FoxyPV Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Fair enough, I have a friend who is actually quite high up in BAE, I'll get his opinion. You'll just get the opposite opinion of mine.
Daggers Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Freelance. Bless. If you have to make a living from writing then your kids are going to go fvcking hungry. Send me your address and I'll post you some eggs.
Rincewind Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 About as funny as being married to a woman with a passion for chopping things off with an axe.
Guest MattP Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Bless. If you have to make a living from writing then your kids are going to go fvcking hungry. Send me your address and I'll post you some eggs. Gaming industry fortunately. I'll still take the eggs mind. Can never have enough.
Daggers Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 You'll just get the opposite opinion of mine. Not necessarily. We coated circuit boards for them and made a mint out of it - and everyone in the company would have proudly told you so. The issue may come to a head if Scotland vote for independence. Which would be nice.

When in power they like the feeling of sitting at the top table with the real big boys. So they can use them to threaten other Countries that have the temerity to want what they have Because the Americans say we must have it and they wouldn't want to upset the special (one way) relationship To give us a presence in the armaments industry so we can sell arms to Countries that'll probably end up using them against us Because they still like to think we're a Super power.

Guest ttfn Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Pages 1-10 - Quite an interesting thread developing, with some familiar but nevertheless salient points about the over-saturation of the benefits system clashing with general human decency. Pages 11-15 Sphericalfox insisting that only he was allowed to use statistics, because only he understands what they mean (he works with statistics). Pages 16-21 Daggers performing the not unimpressive simultaneous feat of arguing his viewpoint well (thankfully sphericalfox lifted his ban on statistics when Daggers entered the fray; that was good news for everybody) and sticking his fingers in his ears when somebody tried to reply, seizing on what seem to be some fairly throwaway comments within a broader argument and ruthlessly exploiting them to claim "victory". It's ironic that, as somebody with a clear disdain for party politics, Daggers might just have made an excellent party politician. For what it's worth, I agree with what Matt was trying to say, even if he didn't explicitly say it. I think Michael Gove is talking a very good game, but it will be interesting to see how much of it comes to fruition. Great thread though, I feel like I've learnt a lot, even if the bickering makes me want to pick my eyes out with a spoon. Why can't we all just be friends?
Saxondale Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 I'm not going to get involved in the main argument point of this thread because a) it's not worth it and b) it's been covered in other threads several times anyway. But regarding education and educational reform, it annoys me that there seems to be a widespread consensus of opinion that the only answer to sorting out education is to throw money at it. You could triple the education budget overnight but, if curricula, assessments and policies stayed the same, nothing would improve. Building lovely modernist schools with funky piazzas and mezzanines isn't going to help thick kids learn their times tables.
The Doctor Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 All that's missing is the cap with a letter D. But could that kid wear it with their ridiculous haircut?
Guest ttfn Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 All that's missing is the cap with a letter D. For Daggers? I know you've got your fans on here, but getting your own merchandising is too far.

On the other hand cutting budgets and funding that helps develop a better understanding and helps special needs children is not going to result in a better educated society of school leavers and prepare them for their future which does not involve joining the unemployment queue because the lack of education.
Daggers Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 For Daggers? I know you've got your fans on here, but getting your own merchandising is too far. I already have a very successful range of Daggers merch.
