Door Policies.

I can understand it of an evening, but during the day seems a but overkill. Also not entirely sure I buy that they were only after a cup of tea. I would have had a drink in their position for sure.

What a ridiculous policy. I'd have given anyone in service uniform coffee on the house. It's not exactly expensive is it? Mr Brown, you're a miserable, disrespectful sod. Change your policy!

What is the thought process bhind this policy, refusing to serve people who are wearing a uniform that is almost universely respected and loved by nearly everyone. Cant't ever recall going into a pub and thinking oh no theres a few army lads in here, there's going to be trouble.

Posted

Stupid.

I've heard that if you're serving at RAF Wittering, it is advised not to go into Peterborough's centre with uniforms on.

But, yes it is ridiculous. They should be allowed to go wherever, whenever, with their uniforms on.

I wouldn't give anyone in a uniform special treatment, be it military or emergency services, that's just pathetic and sycophantic. But why would it be company policy for a cafe to refuse to serve anyone in one? That's just weird.

I don't buy into the flag waving crap about it being disrespectful but it is rude and stupid customer service.

Clearly none of you grew up in towns near large army bases. Soldiers fight, and idiots want to fight them.

I guess this is mainly from the days when we didn't have the current love fest with the armed forces, and also I guess when the IRA were bombing pubs with soldiers in.

I can understand why a bar would put a ban on uniforms, not only do soldiers fight, other people when drunk like to have a go at soldiers, he has admitted if he had known the circumstances he would have served them, but I'm sure he is not the only bar in the UK with a ban on uniforms.

Anyway, it is just another storm in a teacup, no real news today?

Just seems like a misunderstanding. We do not know of any past inncidents that may have caused them to have the policy. The member of staff was follering company policy. How experienced they were I don't know. They could have been fairly new so would worry about their position. A more experienced staff member may have used some inititive but with caution. Browns have apologized so maybe it will be acepted. The vast majority signing on the Facebook page do not know the true circumstances and is typical of the 'how discraceful lets sign a petition' attitude

Yes, soldiers do fight. They get trained to do so agressively and with great force, funnily enough. Some can't hold their beer and things can get out of hand, just like students. Most garrison towns have been so for years and in many cases its the garrisons and bases that drive the local economy.

To be honest, I know a bit about this place. Its door policy is well known locally, if this bloke Brown or his daughter don't like the look of you, no likey no servee. In this case, they happened to be soldiers.

Can see why you would be a bit wary, most pubs tend to kick off when the army boys come in, no angels and that's why they do what they do.

Seems a bit daft at this time of the day though.

This place is a cafe as well as a bar. They went in, in the daytime for a coffee. They're hardly going to get rowdy are they?

lol Yeah squaddies going into a pub/cafe prior to a funeral, were stopping for an expresso or a latte.

I think the establishment was wrong to turn them away, unless they already had drink in them and were acting like nobs, just like any other group of lads day or night.

Maybe they had previous? Once it had kicked off because one of them was served an orange mochacino instead of his usual frappe?

Maybe you should have read the article. They were the pallbearers, they went in while the rehearsal was going on and the owner himself said they ordered a coffee

Maybe you should have read my post and actually understood it. Did I say they were pissed or were acting like nobs? But at least you got a +1 from MattyP

wtf?

You're obsessed. Why not just click on my profile and check the +1's I've given? You can see them and you can see that the one above isn't me.

Fcuking weirdo.

That's true. It was a baseless accusation, and I will hold my hands up.

My obsession is growing hard and strong though. Every time I see your bespeckled profile pic I know I going to read something really special.

I'll ensure to do a bit of looking things up before I post.

I imagine it's not the only thing growing hard and strong when you see I've posted.

This is the part I was replying to. That doesn't take a lot of understanding does it? It makes it plainly obvious that you didn't read the article

I don't need to read articles to make opinions on things.

Must be difficult pretending to be a know-it-all, that's harder than actually knowing things.

I'll hold my hands up when I get things wrong or when I not converse on a topic, yet there's nothing you won't pretend to know everything about.

I didn't read the article, and won't go back to my post. I could have but won't. I know some squaddies, and they are hard drinking, and fast fighting individuals, it comes with the game, though I never really drew a conclusion as I hadn't read it, I supposed, and MattP knows what happens when you 'suppose' something. :P

Just keep throwing the accusations....

If I come across as thinking I know about everything I apologise, I certainly don't and never intend that to be the case, I do like to offer an opinion on things and how I see it and I'll continue to do that.

I won't converse with people anyone who think they can throw insults at people from behind a keyboard, they are the biggest cowards of the internet.
