Guest Bilo Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 OK then boys. And girls, I don't discriminate. Been out in Skeggy now for a couple of hours in the beer gardens in preparation for a full-on night out in this glorious seaside resort, and this has helped me come to a conclusion. Beer gardens. They're brilliant aren't they? They so seamlessly combine those two great loves of the British; beer and sunshine. Hangovers and sunburn. You know you love the humble beer garden at your local. The stainless steel chairs and table, the tobacco smoke drifting in the air like phosgene gas at the Somme blending beautifully with the pollution of the surrounding roads. It sounds far from idyllic, yet it is. That humble beer garden. That centre of the British summertime. We as men must salute her, like a gloriously intoxicated ship of debauched alcoholic joy. All hail the beer garden and all that vomit in her!
Webbo Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Spent a pleasant hour in the Hope and Anchor beer garden myself today. Which pub were you in Bilo?
Guest Bilo Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 The Red Lion mate. Spoons is the only place I've found that sells German weiss beer sadly. Really quite nice out the back.

Guest Bilo Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Lumley is only over the road to be fair. Cooling down a bit now, may have to retire inside. Oh and weiss bier is undoubtedly a superb choice BornBlue.
PAULCFC Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Old Horse on London Rd has a good beer garden,or White House spoons for me if its sunny.

Saxondale Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 I used to like the Kronenbourg Blanc they used to do as well, for a disappointing short period.
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 "We as men..."? They`ve got bingo on inside for the ladies.
Guest Bilo Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Franziskaner? Erdinger? Paulaner? Erdinger my son. Beautiful.
21st Century Fox Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Erdinger my son. Beautiful. Nice choice! On a side note, does anyone else remember Kronenbourg Deco? It was a bottle of Kronenbourg with a shot glass of absinthe on top. Whatever happened to that?
Webbo Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Nice choice! On a side note, does anyone else remember Kronenbourg Deco? It was a bottle of Kronenbourg with a shot glass of absinthe on top. Whatever happened to that? Good taste prevailed?
21st Century Fox Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Good taste prevailed? That may have been the only occasion good taste has prevailed in the alcohol industry then. Absinthe did make Kronenbourg almost palatable though
Saxondale Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Away from weiss, I tried that Stella Black the other week. Bloody great beer, a different level to the standard stuff.
Guest Bilo Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Doing the Buffalo now. Gotta keep my wits about me. Wish me luck.
jonthefox Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Whats the name of the pub bilo?. The reason i ask, is that i'm in costa del skeg tomorrow.
Haydos Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Beer gardens are definitely one of the best things about summer.
Jaspa Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Prefer it when its abit open, and youve got some greenery around . . . . . Of some description You get loads of inner city pubs, and even clubs turning dingy car parks into beer gardens now; it just doesn't feel the same to me
Guest Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 They`ve got bingo on inside for the ladies. *puts hands on hips, raises eyebrow, slowly begins to tap foot*
