davieG Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18838540 - Full Report The population of England and Wales has reached 56.1 million, up by 3.7 million in a decade, the 2011 Census shows. It is the largest growth shown by any census since they began in 1801. The population in England was 53 million on 27 March 2011 when the Census was taken, about 400,000 more than official estimates. In Wales the population was 3.1 million. Around 55% of the 3.7m increase was attributed to net migration. It is notable that the number of people in their 20s has risen from 6.6m to 7.6m - that additional one million people are most likely to be migrant workers, he adds. Other population data showed: there were almost a million more women than men in England and Wales - 27.6 million men v 28.5 million women the median age of the population - where half the population is younger and half is older - in England and Wales was 39, with the median age for men being 38 and for women 40 there were 406,000 more under-five-year-olds than in 2001 one in six people in England and Wales in 2011 was aged 65 and over the percentage of the population aged 65 and over was the highest seen in any census - at 16.4% there were 430,000 residents aged 90 and over in 2011 compared with 340,000 in 2001 and 13,000 in 1911
ozleicester Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 sigh i was involved in doing this last year... some unusual and interesting stories.. anyway the population is 2 less since we came back to oz
acooling08 Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 We all know that by far the biggest contributor to the population rise is immigration. If our borders were 100% shut (not suggesting this btw) then I believe the population would start to stay the same and maybe even fall slightly. They say that 55% of the rise is due to migration but that doesn't include all of the children that the immigrants have (which count as British newborns). So I'd guess that the white population of Britain is remaining more or less the same, whereas ethnic mnority populations are going to continue booming (unfortunately for us all).
FoxyPV Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 So I'd guess that the white population of Britain is remaining more or less the same, whereas ethnic mnority populations are going to continue booming (unfortunately for us all). Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Lazy attempt at trolling even by your standards.
MooseBreath Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 You can probably add another six million immigrants who didn't return the form.
Guest Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 They say that 55% of the rise is due to migration but that doesn't include all of the children that the immigrants have (which count as British newborns). Would that be because those children are British citizens, and not immigrants?

Rincewind Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 i note the poulation of leicester is rising at twice the national average.. Its the unemployed here. More time on their hands.
I am Rod Hull Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 i note the poulation of leicester is rising at twice the national average.. Coincidence?
Rincewind Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 Something on Midland news that shows how easy some are influenced to turn against others not like them. A student at Nottingham University was doing research on the Quaida and downloaded a document. The police got involve and a professer at the university was wrongly quoted and statement changed to make it look as if the student was co-operating with terrorists. The police now admit they changed the statement. The professer lost his job because of it. They said the document is readily available on a USA military site. Now if that story was in a certain paper this forum would be inudated with cries of ' Muslim illegal immigrant terrorists, send them home then hang them' Or words to that effect. and no apologies when the truth was known.
Fox92 Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 Question 17 This question has been deliberately left blank, go to question 18. lol
acooling08 Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 Would that be because those children are British citizens, and not immigrants? Officially yes they are, but if you are born to immigrants, act and look like an immigrant, and feel like you are the same nationality as your parents, you aren't really British. Just to re-iterate what I said earlier, population increase is a bad thing from whatever source, white english or whatever. We already have enough pressure on public services as it is.
MooseBreath Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 It's by no means a bad thing as long as they contribute.
THEFATBASTARD Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 Coincidence? Well ha....they are very good..very nice.. they like plenty knob..

The Government is desperate for more immigration, to boost the economy, and to increase taxes to pay for public services. As an aside, if it was left to me, I would abolish borders. I'm being serious.

Guest MattP Posted 16 July 2012 Posted 16 July 2012 As an aside, if it was left to me, I would abolish borders. I'm being serious. In an ideal world we would, problem is its far from ideal and the chaos that policy would cause its quite frightening. Desperate for finincial investment and immigration that creates jobs, no point flooding a place with even more immigrants when we have 3million out of work. All you end up then is more people reliant on state support.
