Captain... Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 What are your views on the morality of spending such a large amount of your working day on foxestalk, shrapnel? Not working at the moment, I'm currently on benefits, but doing a little work on the side, cash in hand like, it's great I've paid for my ipad and Sky Sports subscription, got a big fat plasma screen too. Just a shame I'm impotent or me and the thai bride (which taxpayers paid for) would have popped out a few sprogs to increase my income so I can upgrade my car. Do you fancy a go on her? A virile man like you could probably impregnate her just by looking at her, she's a bit skinny but the best I could afford on benefits, I'll even let you do her for free the first time (seeing as your tax money helped me afford her), but it will be £30 quid for each time after if you are unsuccessful. Anyway, must pop down the old job centre, do my best to pretend I want a job, probably pick up some fags and booze on the way back, maybe some scag, it is a Friday after all.
Jon the Hat Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Not acheivable by the UK acting alone, but a bit of global unity on this, we could close down the tax havens, get Switzerland to play ball and ensure that all tax is collected fairly, once everyone everywhere is paying the full and correct amount of tax then we can incentivise certain practices with tax breaks, because we will be able to afford them. Right now a lot of big businesses are consolidating all their European financial centres into 1, normally based in Switzerland or another country with low taxes and funnelling all of the money taken in the rest of Europe through there to save millions in taxes, and in cutting staffing, closing down sales offices, distribution centres and manufacturing plants. With the technology we have now the only barriers to doing this are legal ones and they are not sufficient or water tight. I know this because I was recently involved in a project which cost about £100 million to implement, with the aim of saving a lot more than that in taxes. If it isn't Switzerland it will be somewhere else. We will never have that kind of even tax jursidiction, it is an impossibility. So companies will rightly try to reduce their tax burden within the law, and countries will compete to attract them.

Of course, until we can agree some kind of global mandate on tax, I think that it is high time we stopped being so insular and started realising we are in this together as a world, it is not us against them, all of our businesses are so intrinsically linked together, that we need a bit of global thinking to ensure a fair and just world where together we tackle global poverty, pollution, oppression, corruption, collusion and greed. Probably not going to happen in my life time, but that really should be the aims of everyone on this planet.
Daggers Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 ...there are so many people claiming benefits, wrongly, just getting off scott free. How many people? What benefits are they wrongly claiming? What's the total annual value of this? How many are prosecuted successfully? What percentage of those wrongly claiming benefits do not get prosecuted? What source are you using for these stats?

MooseBreath Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Did you put a whole pint of stupid on your cornflakes this morning? Shut up racist
Captain... Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Shut up racist Put me on ignore, please... If you are calling me a racist because I used the words Thai Bride, then you really must have washed that bowl of stupid down with a big glass of retard. Do you also think the following terms are racist: American Footballer Chinese Gymnast French Wine It is an adjective to denote nationality, you tiresome little troll, now seriously you have lost any credibility you ever had. If you had any sense you would edit those posts.

Captain... Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Perhaps more to do with the way you described the Thai bride as a prostitute, utilising a cheap racist stereotype. That's what you took from that? That I'm a racist? Not that I am a despicable human being pimping out my wife, regardless of where I bought her from? That I was exploiting another human being, and treating her like I owned her, that is misogyny and exploitation, that's not racism you daft cvnt. Apart from the fact it was clearly a load of made up bollox pandering to every thing you hate, racism is not the pimping out of one's wife. ...oh shit...I've just realised...I've struck a nerve haven't I...You have a Thai bride don't you? I'm sorry, I realise now that this could have been offensive, I genuinely didn't think, I will go back and edit my post if that would make you feel better.
MooseBreath Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Not that it matters, but no, I don't. And by the way, thanks for playing.

Guest Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Would paying the tradesperson with sex be morally wrong too? What about paying him by teaching his kids a little maths, would that be morally wrong too? They'd both be avoiding paying tax.

Captain... Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Would paying the tradesperson with sex be morally wrong too? What about paying him by teaching his kids a little maths, would that be morally wrong too? They'd both be avoiding paying tax. I'm not sure how tax works with the barter system in this country, I know in Denmark, when I worked out there on a project, they had such high income tax out there, that the company offered numerous perks, such as massages for the factory workers and hot meals every day in the office, because the cost to them was much less to provide them with a hot meal every day than to give them the money (plus tax) to buy a hot meal everyday. So in that sense they weren't paying tax on a good received in lieu of payment, so if that was to be followed then there would be no income tax to be paid for an exchange or part exchange of goods or services. I don't know if that would be the case in the UK. I know that you cannot sell produce grown in your garden or an allotment without a permit, but you can give it away free. But whether giving someone a pound of apples for free and them giving you a pound of courgettes for free in a completely separate transaction is legal or moral, I don't know. I don't think paying with sex is morally acceptable on any level, but an exchange of services, I guess it depends if it is a normal and unavoidable cost, for example you have to pay the delivery man, but you have no money so you offer him a service to that value, you are not cheating the tax man because the lost earnings on that service would be cancelled out by the cost, he would be cheating the tax man though unless he declared, or it was a normal cost. You've got me thinking on this one.
