Northants Fox 3 Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 The rowers and cyclists are bloody awesome! :ldn2012: And there's still some cycling events to come
Salieri Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 And there's still some cycling events to come Yup, and another rowing final just about to start......
Jimothy Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Yup, and another rowing final just about to start...... And by the looks of it, just about up start again. Looks like the seat broke in the British boat.
AoWW Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Sabotage......I'm looking at you Australia I blame RooFox.
Northants Fox 3 Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 It is by the look of it, and they now have a few minutes to fix it, and they'll be in the rerun
AoWW Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 ... and Purchase and Hunter just lose out on gold - but silver's not so bad. .
shen Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Cracking race! Unlucky First Danish Gold in these Olympics, so I'm quite happy And by the looks of it, just about up start again. Looks like the seat broke in the British boat. Apparently it wasn't material damage but a mistake by the British rower, according to the Danish coach. The French have put down a protest about it too. Would be a shame if they were disqualified, but if they tried to manipulate the rules to get a restart (a bit like what Hindes did in the velodrome I suppose) I can understand if they were demoted.

The seat came clean off, not sure how that's a mistake by the rower. The official line by the judges read out by Pinsent was that a catch on the runners of the seat got stuck and that's what knocked the seat off. Just soar grapes from the French, and I don't know what the Dane is sticking his oar in for (no pun intended) as they got the gold. The Danish coach can **** off, and that's coming from someone who's quarter Danish.
davieG Posted 4 August 2012 Author Posted 4 August 2012 Didn't the French manipulate the rules to get people into the cycling events that didn't meet the qualifying requirements, the same requirements that prevented Mark Cavendish from being in the Olympics?

From the TV pictures it was not at all clear what happened, but if the judges were satisfied so should everyone else be
shen Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Didn't the French manipulate the rules to get people into the cycling events that didn't meet the qualifying requirements, the same requirements that prevented Mark Cavendish from being in the Olympics? I have no idea. I've found OG qualification requirements quite confusing in many sports. What did the French do?

I can't say I understand how but Cavendish was explaining it and he seemed a little peeved having had to sit and watch it all from the pundits box but accepted that they'd found a loop hole we hadn't this was after the French were complaining about Hindes who did nothing illegal and also used a loophole.

Yes they did. Can't remember how exactly, but it was mentioned on the cycling coverage. Some form of loophole
