vandamman Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Fantastic race from the Brownlee's so aggressive and dominant from the start as they have been all season, that said even without the time penalty don't think Jonny would have beaten Gomez, he seemed like a man on a mission today. Bring on Pendleton tonight!
Out Foxed Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 There're the best in the world but Alistair who won has been injured for most of the season so pretty insane that he has just won gold and Jonny had a 15 second time penalty so getting bronze was impressive as well! I cant believe how well we are doing fantastic for summer for the country if you ask me! yeah i just saw the injuries he had on the guardian live blog. pretty mental.
Guest shearfox Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Great 20 golds now and surely more to come. Only the USA and China have more who both have massively bigger populations. Fantastic games and we have totally improved remarkably since the disaster that was Atlanta...
shen Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Team Gold for GB in the Dressage. :ldn2012: I will usually defend odd Olympic sports, but Dressage is, in my opinion, the toughest one to argue for. It's horribly boring, it takes aaaaaages and it's ****ing dressage! Still, well done with yet another gold medal, GB are storming in these Olympics. On a side note, I love the irony in the criticism China get in the media (Danish at least) for getting 'easy' medals, i.e. in sports they traditionally dominate, while the US owe HALF of their gold medals and medals total to their swimming team. That is some extreme bias right there...

Fantastic games and we have totally improved remarkably since the disaster that was Atlanta... While population obviously means something, it is quite a bizarre comparison. By that logic, India, Pakistan, Brazil, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Vietnam etc should all figure quite heavily in the medal rankings. GB have the biggest delegation at the games, thus statistically also have the highest chance to win medals. Then there's comparing the funding, and not to mention the sporting traditions. Not to belittle the achievements of GB which have been truly astonishing, just trying to put things into perspective..

I agree you are very correct but I said Population because both China and USA do have massive funding available and great facilities as well. I feel the major difference is our smaller population compared to these two countries.
Guest shearfox Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Gold for Laura Trott, unbelievable how far ahead of everyone else we are at cycling.
AoWW Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Chris Hoy getting emotional during the medal ceremony. Fantastic achievement.
purpleronnie Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 I wish I was Chris Hoy You do know he's scottish don't you?

That is some extreme bias right there... I just hope they take the approach to these other sports dominated by one country they did with the cycling and limit the swimmers and the table tennis and the badminton and the gymnastics to one athlete per country per event, it is disgusting they did that to the cycling when the Chinese have dominated so many sports and the americans dominate so much in the pool. Is Sepp Blatter a member of the IOC?
Guest MattP Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Stack of medals to come in the boxing too! Can only see Joshua and Campbell picking up gold though. And big Tony got a gift in the first round. The Cuban won by a mile IMO.
AoWW Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 We stand a chance of individual medals in the Show Jumping and Dressage too.
goose2010 Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 Are you sure we won the gold in the equestrian yesterday the daily mirror seem to think the Dutch did!
Guest shearfox Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 Are you sure we won the gold in the equestrian yesterday the daily mirror seem to think the Dutch did! Wtf? no we won it, look they clearly have a bronze medal around their neck not gold medals. Just that alone should make it obvious they aren't the British team. What a major error to make... how that managed to get through the checks I will never know.
goose2010 Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 That picture is on the front page of the express as well, imagine being the guy or girl that did it! one more at the job centre I guess!
Guest shearfox Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 That picture is on the front page of the express as well, imagine being the guy or girl that did it! one more at the job centre I guess! I think the person who wrote this in the Daily Mail won't be too far behind either: "Hester, who is gay, allowed her to ride his young horse, Valegro, as a novice, planning to ride the animal himself when he reached international standard." Who is gay... why did that need to be there?
