Smudge Posted 31 July 2012 Posted 31 July 2012 The other interesting factor is that Romney hasn't chosen a running mate yet. I think he's in a delicate situation; too conservative or right wing and he'll alienate the the more centrist voters, too liberal and he'll upset the Tea Party.
Rincewind Posted 1 August 2012 Posted 1 August 2012 Not really interested but isn't this fella a republican?
Zingari Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Clint Eastwood is backing Romney . No-one can argue with him !
Jordan Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Clint Eastwood is backing Romney . No-one can argue with him ! Oh, this sucks... how the fvck am I supposed to go against Clint Eastwood?! When Clint Eastwood says, "Jump!" don't even waste your time asking, "How high?" Just jump, goddammit.
fleckneymike Posted 5 August 2012 Posted 5 August 2012 The election is not Obama's to win but rather Romney's to lose. As always the election will come down to a few key states and the independents. One would imagine Romney will select a running mate from one of those swing states i.e. Florida and Rubio (which might give him traction amongst Latinos or he'll try and out "Biden" Biden by going for Christie. It would be a terrific help if Romney could have a policy on anything as currently he's so wooly you could knit a jumper with him.

Rubio and Christie could be big helpers, but a lot of what I've been reading lately suggests that neither of those two are willing to take the running mate nod this year.
Rincewind Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 If any of the Christian right wing Fundalmental Creation nutters win America is more messed up than I thought

This should make it a proper debate over the big issues for once. Rasmusen have Romney leading but I'm not sure how Ryan will impact on Florida with his views on medicare and medicaid http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/2012-general-election-romney-vs-obama

Rasmusen have Romney leading but I'm not sure how Ryan will impact on Florida with his views on medicare and medicaid http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/2012-general-election-romney-vs-obama Ras is a GOP-leaning pollster, and the poll you cited only had Romney leading by 1 percent with a 4.5 percentage point margin of error. Nearly all recent polls have Obama with a slight lead, and this is before the Ryan nomination. If issues are going to really be brought to the forefront, Ryan is going to have to up-stage Romney because the Romney campaign has hitherto shown no substance. And when Ryan's "The Path to Prosperity" budget proposal becomes a focal point of discussion, it will make the choice clear to American voters: do we want to continue on the road to recovery, or do we want austerity and tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans without a way to pay for them? Mitt Romney should have learned from his casino-mogul sugar daddy Sheldon Adelson that it's not wise to double-down when you're drawn a five and staring at a face card, but Romney is doubling-down on Tea Party politics in the midst of an campaign that he is losing (a little more each day, it appears). Romney has now gone even farther to the right than he was in the primaries. This (along with the timing of the announcement) tells me that the Romney campaign is still worried about rallying the GOP base, let alone winning over independents, and that the anti-government fringe has grown to take over the Republican Party.
Zingari Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 Mitt Romney , what a class act http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0ik_l4aqlw&feature=player_embedded#!silly old sod , i've put this in the wrong thread !!
21st Century Fox Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 It's truly amazing what appeals to some voters.
Guest MattP Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 It's truly amazing what appeals to some voters. What a choice they have! That idiot or a man who has increased national debt by 5 trillion in one term. Almost makes us feel lucky with Cameron and Miliband

Guest MattP Posted 17 August 2012 Posted 17 August 2012 China should stop buying US debt Should really have a Chinese press conference now where Hu Jintao says "if you're doing that well can we have our money?" I'd pay to see that.

Jordan Posted 18 August 2012 Posted 18 August 2012 This video is informative whilst this one explains why all votes aren't equal Hear, hear. It's a disgrace that New York has half as many electoral votes per person than Montana has.
Knightonian Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 Still voting for the Republicans Mattp? If you want to be stupid and believe the earth is 6000 years old and that science doesn't exsist - by all means do it....
Jordan Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 The entire first night of the 2012 Republican National Convention seems to be based upon a portion of a Barack Obama quote taken entirely out of context.
Knightonian Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 I thought they just don't like him because he is black, and has a terrorist name.... (According to the right wing)
Guest MattP Posted 29 August 2012 Posted 29 August 2012 Hard choice isn't it Knight? A party that I generally agree with in terms of policy that clearly has to please a load of religious cranks or one that has added 5 trillion worth of debt onto a nation and will probably take it to a double A rated country by the end of another term. What a terrible choice. I'd probably abstain to be honest.
